Avram Grant, Curbs, Big Sam, Houllier, Souness and those are just the free agents?!

Don't think we could afford them all at the same time :D

Thats the trouble when some people have to many options, they can't make a choice

Whether the players are behind him or not it doesnt matter. They havent performed for him, and the blame can be shared all around.

I do feel for Ince, as the board could have gone about better. I believe he should have been removed at least a couple of matches ago, but no one can complain that he wasnt given the time. It was all over his face on Saturday, but I guess the board wanted to do it the way nicko just suggested.

Cant see anyone outside the Souness/Allardyce choices being within a shot of the job personally.

At the end of the day, the board can get slaughtered but IF/WHEN we stay hopefully, it will all be forgotten. Far more clubs have treated their managers far worse with far rasher decisions!

Well yes. Since they do have a say. And it seems like they have spoken to JW, so who knows whether they were supportive or not?

The players at Rovers are pretty important at the moment. If there is not much money to spend you will need them to be a happy bunch.

There is no doubt that they have been consulted lately - as any sane club would do.

What is said in public and what some have said in private are two different things. That happens.

Sure, some have been below-par this season. However the nucleus of them care for the club and want to do well.

You only have to look down the road to Burnley to see what a group of players can achieve when they look forward to going into work every day.

Course it does.

If he's lost the players there's no chance he'll turn it round, if he hasn't there is a slight chance although obviously he has to get other things right as well.

Too much mess has been spilled and there is no redemption for sure. Anyone who thinks its rational to go about it on a match by match basis is fooling themselves as it would be suicidal for team spirit, Ince, and the club as a whole with such a cloud hovering over.

Board could have gone about better, but bottom line is some people are feeling sentimental for Ince...Lets separate feelings with whats in our heads.

Ouch -that hurt!

Williams said: “It could have gone one of two ways on Saturday but the fans were fantastic and really got behind the team.

Interesting, at no point in that quote does Williams suggest that the fans were behind the manager as Ince claims. You can read through the whole article and will find no reference to Williams positively speaking about ince. Good of him to mention he's pleased with how the fans responded to the players.

Nicko, do you know if more then 2 managers are being considered, or are we only looking at Big Sam and Souness?

Those are the only two names I have heard.

There could be others but these two fit a certain profile.

Available. Experienced. Local. Know the Premier League.

And, possibly, can work on the cheap and be willing to take a short-term contract.

If the 'short-term contract' factor is huge I think Souey is more likely to accept that than Allardyce...but that's just a guess.

I think the board know that Saturday the fans were behind Blackburn Rovers. It would be easy for some to confuse the two, just as some people have done so on this board...We are a sensible group of fans...

Which two? Blackburn Rovers and... the board? or manager?

Because the board and manager are also entirely different.

Gérard Houllier is still currently out of a job ain't he?

Brilliant youth policy and a hell of a footballing brain... Just what Rovers need at the moment in my opinion.

(Don't know if his heart could handle the pressure though again in the Premier League)

I posted that ^ in the Sam thread but stuck it in here as well due to the spread of manager talk in all the threads about here atm.

Director of Youth Development would be a great step forward.

Are you saying we will offer Allardyce a contract until the end of the season? Thats absolutely ludicrous. It makes sense with Souness but with Allardyce, we would only be risking losing him. It makes sense for him to accept cause by "saving" us he would only raise his own stock within the game once again...

Between the fans loud support on Saturday being mistaken for unanimous approval of the manager, over support for the club to do well.

Also I find it sickening that not only did the Trustees 3 million disappear BUT ALSO the left-overs from the Bentley deal have gone, not to mention that most likely the 4 million set aside to confirm the Carlos deal, which I doubt will be an option we will take in December, well thats gone too. I guess some people need deeper pockets...

Nicko, I know you say that news of the interest in Allardyce was leaked by a source at Sunderland, but can you explain where any link to Souness has come from?

All I can recall you saying is that you ran it by the man himself and he seemed "shocked" and declined to comment. Apologies if I've missed anything else you've said.

Absolutely agree. The fans wanted the club to do well on Saturday. I just don't like how PI has converted that support to the fans are behind him. Although in fairness, I guess he has the right to after all the misinterpretations aimed at him in the last five months.

Nicko, as Souness and Allardyce seem to be the only two being considered who would have been the other club contacted last week? I understand Sunderland because of the Allardyce link but there were two were there not? Or is that not in the public domain yet?
