modes98 Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 If we lose the Wigan game and some of the sides above us win, a real gap will start to form. That is exactly why the change is needed now. I don't see any point in delaying the process as it is becoming painful, but the timing is not down to me. Indeed. If the decision is coming, just accept the media flack which will always come and get the process started. Do you know if the players are behind Ince as he's claiming? Right behind him with their knives drawn!

nicko Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Nicko, I know you say that news of the interest in Allardyce was leaked by a source at Sunderland, but can you explain where any link to Souness has come from? All I can recall you saying is that you ran it by the man himself and he seemed "shocked" and declined to comment. Apologies if I've missed anything else you've said. To repeat...the call from Rovers to Sunderland also included the 'revelation' that the alternative to Sam was Souey plus Tugay. This was passed on by Sunderland to a north east reporter, on to the Mirror desk in London among others, and then I was asked to check it out. I rang Souey, normally an open gent, and he was very uncomfortable with it and did not want to talk about it. He had just been contacted with the Daily Mail with the exact same inquiry and info...and knew where it had come from. As you will recall the Mail ran the tale, the Times and Inde had the info - probably from the same reporter in the north east - and I did it in the Mirror. The reporter who got the first tip is a good pro and I know he has that contact that was mentioned in the 'loop' of information. Nicko, as Souness and Allardyce seem to be the only two being considered who would have been the other club contacted last week? I understand Sunderland because of the Allardyce link but there were two were there not? Or is that not in the public domain yet? It's not and it won't be.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 And, possibly, can work on the cheap and be willing to take a short-term contract. Work on the cheap? Guess that rules out Souness. Short term contract? Guess that rules out Allardyce. If those are the two main criteria, we are stuffed.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 You said that Rovers have rung other clubs for background info? One is Sunderland, no confusion there. I would guess Bolton, Gartside in particular (didn't he recommend Coyle to the Dingles too?) and Newcastle? EDIT: You replied before I posted. Fair enough if you can't say, just trying to discount the possibility it was a manager currently in employment, which it seems it wasn't.
G Somerset Rover Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Nicko do you still stand by your time frame that Ince will be gone by tomorrow at the latest? I can't see us getting an immediate replacement in by then, unless of course we've been interviewing over the weekend?
ABBEY Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 makes me laugh when i read the fans where behind ince! THEY WERNT!!!! PAUL INCES B AND W ARMY WAS REPLACED BY ABOUT 90% OF FANS WITH UNCLE JACKS BLUE AND WHITE ARMY!!!!!!

philipl Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 The official web site messageboard is down with the message "Server problems, please bear with me." Of course American thinks this is a fantasy, Exiled in Toronto knows that server has a deeply rude and perverted meaning and Revidge Blue wants to know from Nicko if he really is getting his information from the salesman who supplied the server, whether the players are in favour of having a server or not and if the server went down before or after John Williams rang the other Board Members yesterday afternoon. The latter is a legitimate question....

I can't see us getting an immediate replacement in by then, unless of course we've been interviewing over the weekend? Yes. I'll take the stick if that time frame is incorrect...quite happy to do so. Once you know which one you want that part is a quick process. I don't know how fast your people work, but it doesn't strike me as being too difficult. The longer you wait now, the worse it gets. The [black] Cat is out of the bag...
my_name_is_Earl Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Where were you with your banner Abs? Didn't see a single murmur. I think the problem with any protest on Saturday was that those fans, including myself felt that supporting the club was more important than trying to get the manager sacked. Above all, all of us who want Ince out want the club to be successful and our support is therefore crucial to that.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 The [black] Cat is out of the bag... Surprisingly unsubtle hint there. Now who is it who lives near Sam's house? Get a telescope set up.
Iceman Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Ince still not gone yet. Hmm whats going on here.

ABBEY Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Where were you with your banner Abs? Didn't see a single murmur. Didnt have time to make one due to serious problems with my ex making my life hell.......you didnt hear a murmur ? you must have had ear plugs in becuase as soon as the second goal went in there was quite a lot of "murmerings"...am i wrong about paul inces b and w army or not ..I KNOW WHAT EVERYONE IN THE BBE WAS CHANTING.
nicko Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 very good. Thanks for the reply. So you seem to think that Big Sam would be interested if as we imagine he has been approached? Sam wants back into work. I believe he would prefer Sunderland if he had the choice because ot the size of the club and possible money to spend. However any good manager would fancy a crack at Rovers right now. Sam certainly has the bottle for it. I'm not sure his style would suit the current crop of players, but he would get them organised. Souey does have a certain something about him that gives people a lift. For those who recall his last days that may sound strange. For those who recall your club was in a coma before he came it is worth reminding them.
Bobby G Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Maybe he means Allardyce ISNT going to be Sunderlands first choice...

Er no, I'm sure I didn't hear anything. Or see anything. I heard one sole person singing "You don't know what you're doing" for all of 5 seconds. Wasn't you was it?
alexanders Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Surprisingly unsubtle hint there. Now who is it who lives near Sam's house? Get a telescope set up. From 1864 Roverite last night: .>>>>>>>>>>BREAKING NEWS>>>>>>>>>> Big Sam just been dropped off in a black Range Rover at his home address, has been out since early morning. Quite clearly been in a meeting, wearing black suit, blue and white tie and carrying his brief case, also with a second chap, identity unknown aged around 55yrs. Mrs A nowhere to be seen.
roverfanuk Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 The official web site messageboard is down with the message "Server problems, please bear with me." It's back up. Pop goes that theory!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Blue and white tie? Club shop didn't half get a shift on kitting him out did they? Has he got the cufflinks yet?

my_name_is_Earl Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Maybe he means Allardyce ISNT going to be Sunderlands first choice... To be fair, I don't think BFS would be Sunderlands first choice. They have a fair bit of cash and a big attendance and would be able to attract more 'glorious' and 'exciting' names. This does not mean that I don't think BFS is absolutely the right man for Rovers at this current time.
The Prof. Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 I just hope any new prospective manager has the gumption and sense to ask for cash for players (not in the Souness or Allardyce jnr. sense) before he comes. The club has put itself over a barrel here in some ways.

But I reckon our style would work, what with Nelsen's constant hoofs up the field and our apparent interest in Janko we'd be sorted..maybe even put in a cheeky bid for Diouf. In all seriousness I'd be all for Big Sam and hope that behind the scenes he is being lined up.
