I'm sick of hearing that we just need one win to turn it all around and Ince going on about how we need that bit of luck. It smacks of desperation and a lack of idea. You make your own luck and we need to start by getting organised on the pitch. Maybe a bit of tactical nouse might help!

It seems to me that Mark Hughes made up for his learning curve by being very defensive and hard to beat in the first half of each game. He and the team then made use of the first 45 minutes to assess what was required to beat a team and pass that onto the players at half time. How many comebacks did we have - particularly last season?? Ince seems to just tell the players to go out and win the first half then we run out of steam in the second. It's happened a lot so far and it shows up his lack of experience. I'm sure he'll get there eventually but it may require us to be relegated to do so.

No thanks! -_-

Everything in the football world has a leak, its just knowing those people that have access to it. Look at how much quality info Nicko has given us over the last 18 months, we have known many things way in advance, and alot of it was not just about Rovers.

Those are the only two names I have heard.

There could be others but these two fit a certain profile.

Available. Experienced. Local. Know the Premier League.

And, possibly, can work on the cheap and be willing to take a short-term contract.

If the 'short-term contract' factor is huge I think Souey is more likely to accept that than Allardyce...but that's just a guess.

Nicko, isn't it the case the single biggest factor ref Allardyce was he didn't like the terms of the contract on offer at Rovers?

Some people seem to misunderstand the difference between

1. a short-term contract

2. an incentivised contract

3. a 'rolling' contract.

I'd suggest the contract terms to Allardyce would be as proposed in the Summer (i.e. along the lines of 2 or 3) while for Souey option 1 would be wiser. If we offered Allardyce a short term contract till the end of the season he'd likely take great delight in spurning us.

The team and the manager I think he means.

I know Allardyce is local, but where is Souey residing these days?

Somewhere down the Wags triangle I think - Hale isn't it? Surprised that's another stick used to beat Ince with - he still lives over Wirral way with the Scousers whilst almost all the Rovers squad reside around Prestbury, A Edge, Bowdon, Wilmslow etc - so he must have fallen out with them, no? :o

If Ince goes and the two options are Souey and Allardyce then its obvious that:

Allardyce- Long term contract.

Souness -Short term contract, similar job to what Kinnear is doing.

Allardyce would be the first choice you would think, but if he turned it down then they go for Souness on a short term end to the season contract.

If Souey comes in on a short term contract and does well then he could boost his standing and get some interest from other clubs who want to appoint him for next season. The plus point from the board perspective is that if we can remain in the premier league then next season could be a fresh start, plus there are likely to be more managers available in the summer.

"It appears that Williams and the board are willing to give Ince more time to turn things around"

So sick of the "Know for a fact" posts... Always make's me sit and stare at my laptop, waiting for some news that never shows.

Or that the contacts have not been made or said no. You can't say "well would you mind hanging on a bit and see if we loose Saturday Graham." Can you?

Thie whole thing had GONE BEYOND FARCE AND IS READY FOR CHRISTMAS - A &!@@&% PANTOMIME!

To be fair, I don't think BFS would be Sunderlands first choice. They have a fair bit of cash and a big attendance and would be able to attract more 'glorious' and 'exciting' names. This does not mean that I don't think BFS is absolutely the right man for Rovers at this current time.

Sunderland's new owners 'main man' has stated their preferred option is an international/foreign manager, hasn't he?

I'd tend to believe the Allardyce spin machine went into full flow on his candidacy for the Sunderland job as quick as it did for the Rovers gig, once they announced City had approached for permission on Hughes (within the hour apparently).

A new manager needs to be appointed now before the Wigan game for two reasons :-

1. We get the "players playing hard for their futures under a new manager" syndrome and so have a better chance of beating Wigan in a "must win game"!

2. A new manager always needs time to assess the players already at the club before buying new players and the January transfer window is almost upon us.

The appointment also needs to be a permanent one as the board are unlikely to give money to a temporary manager - and we need fresh faces!!

A good managerial appointment might go a long way to keeping our best players but a bad one will have the opposite effect.

Ince : "After that performance there's a bit of positivity now. The players can walk a little bit higher now."

We lost another one, didnt we ?? Produced just 2 shots on goal and had only 38% of possession, right ??

If i was a player, i would not "walk a little bit higher".

So much optimism and positivity, just because we didnt suck big time ?

Whenever I think maybe Paul Ince deserves more time, a glance at the league table and exactly what is written in the second link above are the reasons why I hope we get rid as soon as possible. I can't see how he can inspire or motivate anyone when he is convinced that the fans, media, every man and dog in the country are out to get him. Extreme paranoia and then some...

I don't know why, but I'd quite like Curbishley. I can see him steadying the ship and let's not forget what he made of Charlton on a smaller budget than our own. The thought of Allardyce still sticks in my throat.
