I think Wigan away should be his last if we don't win. If we sack him too near to saturday it could be massively negative.

I think we should all face the fact that he isnt going anywhere regardless of results in the next 2-3 games.

I reckon were going to snatch a late draw against Wigan, and Ince will come out and say it was a really good result. Then the board will back him...

I don't actually think JW said those words.

The self same quote, word for word appeared in the LT in the article by Jason McAteer but apparently it was our defensive guru Nigel Winterburn wot said it.

Too much of a big statement to be given by a chairman who considered sacking him a couple of days ago. I dont buy it.

Lets put it this way. If we lose against Wigan and then we sack him, even though this sounds absurd but it might be too late, as thats a KEY GAME for us.

Lets hope we win and continue winning.

The club is a shambles right now...

Been away all day with work - reading the comments put out by JW have just made my heart sink and for me to throw my tea up all over the table...........why?.........because it has just dawned on me that we will NOT win 9 out of the remaining 22 games. I never thought about it like that and i am GUTTED!

On current form we probably could just about manage 3 wins from the remaining fixtures, which is not good enough. I am giving my opinion on the games we could realistically win and why!

1. Wigan v Rovers - WIN - This is Ince's cup final, we will surely try EVERYTHING!

2. Rovers v Stoke - WIN - They don't travel too well and i think if we got the first win against Wigan, we could get this too.

3. Sunderland v Rovers

4. Rovers v Man City

5. Fulham v Rovers

6. Rovers v Newcastle

7. Rovers v Bolton

8. Middlesbrough v Rovers - WIN - We just always seem to do well up in the North East, poor excuse but would you bet on us winning at West Ham?

9. Rovers v Aston Villa

10. Man Utd v Rovers

11. Hull v Rovers

12. Rovers v Everton

13. Arsenal v Rovers

14. Rovers v West Ham

15. Rovers v Tottenham - WIN - They dont travel ooopp north too well and we will be after getting one over DB.

16. Liverpool v Rovers

17. Stoke v Rovers

18. Rovers v Wigan - WIN - Certainly winnable.

19. Man City v Rovers

20. Rovers v Portsmouth - WIN - Getting to the crunch now and Portsmouth will be in mid table security with nothing to play for.

21. Chelsea v Rovers

22. Rovers v West Brom - WIN - Last game of the season!

That doesnt get to the magical 40 point mark. :-(

I'd venture to suggest that if we are good enough to win seven of the remaining fixtures, (34 points) we'll probably stay up because we'll probably draw some of the other fifteen fixtures as well.

That's interesting, because Sammy Lee got 14 games, they made the choice, and now Bolton are making us (Rovers) look like a second tier team...

In fact:

Sammy Lee:

Bolton Wanderers - 30 April 2007 to 17 October 2007 - Games managed 14 - Games won 3 - Games Lost 7 - Games Drawn 4 - Win % 21.43%

Paul Ince:

Blackburn Rovers - 22 June 2008 to Present - Games managed 20 - Games won 6 - Games Lost 10 - Games Drawn 4 - Win % 30%

Give him 3 more games, and im sure he will be on level par with Mr Lee...

Just to put a few other things into perspective.

Last season we conceded a total of 48 goals over the entire season - 31 this season with only 16 games gone.

It is also the worst defensive record in the league this season and if you take the two new boys out (West Brom & Stoke) then its the worst by some 6 goals.

Last Season we also lost a total of 10 games - 9 So far already this season

1 interesting point about the 9 more wins quote - a team with 12 wins has never gone down in the premier league.

Though I agree goal difference could be very important come the end of the season - I think it should be seen in perspective - as in many of these matches we have been chasing the game (e.g. Liverpool, West Ham).

We can blame an awful defence - some of the errors have been school boy - we can blame organisation (which I often have), but to be fair organisation has often gone as we have chased games. Where we have really been at a disadvantage this season is not taking our chances. How many times have we been chasing games after conceding the first goal in games which we have often been the better team up to that point. Oh for Santa to recover his goal scoring form - he loved playing Wigan last season - lets keep fingers crossed.

Just off Grapevine.

BFS wasn't interested when he heard the financial situation. Maybe 5m to spend, borrowed from next summers budget.

But BFS can manage on a shoestring, so all his minions keep saying.

This whole farce has been one sorry episode of vacillation, mischief making, false calls, spin, assumptions, criticism & wild conjecture based on 'ratty data' - and that's just the posters on this thread alone - and they're slagging the board? B):D

There's been more wriggling than a Rampant Rabbit in a nunnery.

If it wasn't for it being our club, it would be amusing. As it is, 'outsiders' must be laughing their pips off at us, based on the shenanigans on this thread. :o

Unless I'm missing something, nowt's changed since before Liverpool game - we've avoided the dreaded 'vote of confidence' (as he's still probably on a rolling one game notice), certain papers have had a good innings of it (not just the DM/People either), Sunderland's strirred the pot, but ultimately fans have just got their grollies in a twist over nothing, haven't they?

The Guardian suggests that John Williams protected Paul Ince from the Trust demanding his sacking.

That is extraordinally generous-spirited towards Paul Ince on the part of John Williams considering what has happened since Ince was appointed.

I wonder if not getting their way has caused the Trust to take their chequebook home.

I think the Board has made an enormous mistake. Today's board meeting has in effect sealed our relegation.

And yes I will be so elated to have this thrown back at me on 16 May 2009 by my devoted fans on this message board.

By the sounds of its not just Ince's future on the line its John Williams's as well... If god forbid we go down JW will be under huge pressure if the reports are true that he blocked/prevented the trust from sacking Ince.

Disgracefull. After all the messages JW has sent to fans who took time to write emails to him saying he would do what was best for the club. If he has completely ignored the fans and the board. He should be ashaimed of himself...

In fact, if this is true, allow me to be the first person to say:

PAUL INCE AND JOHN WILLIAMS OUT!!!

It's painfully obvious Williams is far more interested in proving a point, and making sure that anybody who takes over knows he is in charge. Then the wellbeing of the club! :angry2:

Just out of interest, what will your forfeit be then Philip?

I don't suppose you think there's it may have been canny politicking by JW? Trying to sift through all the stories and 'facts' bouncing around only seems to muddy the waters more, don't you think?

Way I see it, we're no further forward if we didn't read any of the newspapers than if we did? I don't think it's a case of obfuscation, just everyone's running out their own agendas? Club's trying to spin via that article in LT, the ongoing wriggle/fudge suggestions, and even BFS doing his own spinning on Bolton TV/News today too, it's almost as bad as them clowns in Millbank.

BTW, Our mutual friend PA was crossing the road in town today as I drove towards him - had great delight in having a 'Death Race 2000 moment' on our behalf ;)
