Im sorry brenmul, i just dont believe you... <_<

I don't believe Williams would call a random fan in to talk too during this current crisis...

Actually, you don't know much about the guy you're expressing an opinion on then (JW).

You may doubt the extent of any discussion, but the salient fact is JW has, does - and will always - be approachable enough to meet, or discuss with anyone.

The problem with the pervading air of negativity on this board is people always want to see the bad in things, and shoot down anyone/anything remotely positive.

Just my opinion. I dont believe it. It's fine if you want to believe it, go ahead.

But it doesnt add up. Im not going to say anything more about it...

I'll buy you a calculator then :D

To paraphrase AN, keep up....

I think that our best hope lies with getting Dunn, Grella and co fit and healthy and purchasing a couple of pacy wingers/strikers.

Given past indications if our Prem future lies in keeping Dunny and Grella injury free we may as well give up now. :(

roverfan, you can choose to believe it, or you can choose not to believe it such is your call.

However, believe that Mr Williams does take the time to meet supporters as I have done on a number of occasions (both with and without others on this messageboard and beyond) and perhaps been told things that would be considered sensitive.

Of course it seems the done thing would be to get on the defensive and/or slag you off. But your opinion is your own and call it as you see fit.

Can we just leave it, you nor anyone else is going to make me believe that... He might have met John Williams, but to suggest he told him stuff about the club, and then make him promise not to tell anyone else is stupid?! Also, as a club chairman, it would be very unprofessional to disclose what Ince and he have discussed in private. Such as squad lineups and plans for the future!

I have no doubt that Williams is a nice fella, and he might have met some of the clubs fans, but i just don't believe it...

If he had said he had met Williams and had a chat with him, then fine, i could have gone for that.

But the fact he has gone from saying, i wanted Ince out (catagorically) to being persuaded by Williams that Ince is the best option for the club, via being told personal information, it is just, well silly...

As i said, believe what you will... Im going to reserve my right as a individual to not believe what that chap said...

I spent 30 minutes with John Williams today as well (along with Ewood Spark from this MB). We were buying a round at the Disabled Supporters Assoc Christmas do, and he came over to talk to us.

During the conversation, he made a genuine offer to meet face to face with a handful of the most critical, vociferous people from this messageboard.

It seems to me that you're offering yourself up as the first candidate. You'll have to pay your own fare from Brighton, but IMO it's high time you put your money where your mouth is.

PM me if you want to come and speak to Mr Williams face to face. And if you don't put up, then perhaps shut up??

Im not saying that he didnt go see him, that's possible.

The only reason im doubting him is because i dont understand how any level of conversation can talk a fan out of being worried about our managers abilities when he refuses to change formations to suite the opposition...

Basically all the stuff thats been said over the last couple of weeks...

You cant deny the goals conceeded record, games lost record and our current position in the table...

Dear Brendan

Rather than respond back by e-mail in detail please give my secretary a call on to arrange a mutually convenient time for us to sit down and discuss your views over a cup of tea.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

John Williams

Chairman

I've edited the number to stop other people ringing him

Tell you that JW must have alot of time on his hands !!!!

Far from me to call you a lier but it does seem very far fetched for JW to discuss secret matters with you(any fan). Not saying you didn't meet him. Personally love to meet the guy, and ask him a couple of things.

Worrying however that we so desperatly need a buyer in order to stay in the division, not exactly inspiring for us fans. Seems like the club are willing to go down without a whimper.

Wonder what was so miraculous about Ince's interview? Does it not seem strange for a manager to go to the chairman and show him his starting 11? Wonder who he had at right-mid?

I take your point roverfan (and fraserkirky) but I'm 99.9% certain that Brenmul will be telling the absolute truth. I don't think that I am betraying any confidences when I say that a few weeks ago I had an invitation out of the blue via pm on here (indirectly) from JW's PA to contact him in order to call round for a one on one chat too. I guess events have overtaken him .... or I am down as a lost soul.... though cos I contacted them with options but he never came back to me with a confirmation of definite time and date. I'm told he does do this meet the fan type of thing quite frequently.

I guess JW has thought better of it and ducked his chance of an hour in my company as a case of the irresistable force v the immovable object. ^_^

Think there's a few points here.

OP was simply stating by meeting JW it changed his mind on a few things; perfectly reasonable, and understandble - it helps to see things from both sides and add information (sensitive or not) in a face to face discussions.

Needless to say, until one has been placed in that position, it's easier to criticise someone until you've met them, or listened to them - we can all learn a lesson here.

Roverfan has every right to be cynical as to the extent of the debate, but I'd square that as him not being aware on JW's strength and focus in being 'fan facing'. A lot of the criticism on here of him is simply based on either negativity about the general situation the club finds itself in, or assumptions based on perception of him/his position/the 'suits' in football. I think the gravity of support & praise for JW in the last few posts illustrates that at least we have a CE & chairman who's approachable enough to listen & discuss matters, so then it's perhaps easier to understand his stance on things?

Last - and by no means least - the 'put up or shut up' retort is a great leveller, and it's where we fail poorly as Rovers fans sometimes. It's easy to become a 'keyboard warrior' but when it comes down to putting hands in pockets for the club, we've fans that always think it's either not worth the hassle, or up to some other mug to do before themselves.

It's simply easier to send negative vibes through this MB than stand up, look at oneself, ask what we can do for Rovers and then go and do it, whilst at the same addressing whatever personal issues make focussing on the negative more enjoyable than the positive.

DB - the guy (roverfanuk) has an invitation to put all his worries and criticisms to John Williams.

It's not much of a put up or shut up is it really?

Either he (or she) is having problems looking up train times, or is happy to stay purely keyboard based.

First- I have received zero such invite from Mr Williams

Second- I am 5 and a half hours away (by train) on the south coast...

Third- If he ever finds himself down south, tell him in your next board meeting that he's welcome to meet me for a cuppa tea and chat about the club... ;)

Oh right, so i should shut up and not voice my opinion on a messageboard huh? Wow, my goodness some people have big heads on here...

Travel from Brighton to have a convo with Mr Williams? Why not, it would only cost £85 to come up for a convo...

Maybe he could hold some kind of regional meeting the next time Rovers are down in London or something?

One thing i will say though is i sent Mr Williams a 2000 word email about my worries...

Do you ever go to Rovers games at Ewood?

If so see if you can combine seeing JW with the game.

It is simply an opportunity to enrich your opinion.

I have never seen a match at Ewood. Have been to Ewood and one of it's tours though.

I have however seen Rovers play at The Dell, just about most of the London stadiums that we played in in the Premier League and old Division one and Fratton Park... I'm sure i am forgetting somewhere!

Have only been able to attend one game this season due to health problems though!

Hold on......dont you say we shouldn't keep mentioning the colour of Paul Ince's skin?

!

Good call! See my comments in the Oliver Holt thread...Thenodrog can't make his mind up whether we should talk about skin colour or not, which is ironic because he keeps changing the colour of his

He must have me on ignore!

If we beat wigan, then lose to stoke what happens then in terms of Ince's future? Ince should not have been in charge against Wigan. However as much as Daniel will remind me, that im not a fan of Ince, i will be supportive of the team as i always am.

The club has made its decision. Ince stays. As earlier posts state Williams has been able to jutify this with at least one member of this board.

Basically it boils down to one thing and one thing only. Rovers are skint! and can't afford to change direction. In the past we did not need to sell to survive now it appears we do. It sounds like Cruz will be sold to the highest bidder in January and possibly Warnock. Where this leads us we will have to see. Hopefully we can pull this around.

I for one do not like it as a decision but thats the decision made and for the good of the club we've got to accept it. Divided we fall kind of scenario.

We as supporters need to get on with it and support the club whole heartedly and decsively.

What it means is the demise of a terrific squad Hughes built up on scraps. We've lost Freidal and Bentley already, Roque,Warnock and Samba will follow--all three will give us back many times what we paid. The Trustees will say "thanks alot" Ince will receive a fraction of it and will spend it on mediocre players if he has a good day. I truly despair. If they can sell the squad for 50M the Trustees have their asking price, they can give the club away then.

So according to John Williams Paul Ince is 'thorough' as a manager.

So how does he explain the following -

Not finding a position for the big summer signing Villanueva

Not being able to identify and purchase a replacement for Bentley within the first 3 months of his tenure

The ostracising and subsequent reinstatement of Vogel

The signing of Fowler

Repeatedly playing Derbyshire on the wing

Our pathetic set pieces

Our lack of fitness

The decision to play Warnock in central midfield

The huge gap between the midfield and the forwards

The huge gap between the midfield and the defence

The midfield

The decision to rest Tugay prior to 3 games in quick succession...and then not selecting him for any of them

Keith Andrews

Playing Ryan Nelsen week in week out

and that's just for starters.

Well said, but J Dog knows what he is doing and there is a manager lined up for Monday!
