As for you banging on and on about people not wanting to meet him to discuss there worries - what is the point??

Perhaps the point is JW is doing all he can. Talk to one fan and it trickles down to another 10 - 20, each of those passes on a bit of information to another 10 or so. It's about being in touch with the fans, something I think the club has let itself down on this season.

Well he went to Pompey in a secondary role and he had to spend time out of the market to get his Chelsea severance so he must be aware he's not exactly current news at the moment.

There is only Sunderland and Rovers realistically at the moment so that is what he must be pitching for.

Anyway let's hope the Rovers absolutely stuff Wigan to begin to start putting all our minds at rest about Ince.

What is going on at Ewood still doesn't make sense for me but I am suspending disbelief....

Paul Ince is the most "thorough" boss our chairman has dealt with so far? That says a lot when he can't win a game for toffee.

I think waggy is just trolling the board now, knowing his blind bias towards Ince will rattle a few people and at the same time he can pat himself on the back for being a "true blue" or some ###### like that.

I also wish he'd differentiate between off & of. :)

:rover: offf you go sonny,i'm trolling because i back ince,i do'nt cliam to be a true blue, used to be but not now :xmas::brfc:

:rover: whilst your bragging how about your welcome to sparkysaint mark hughes :xmas::brfc:

Good spot waggy. :P I wondered when somone would come up with that. I have never denied my reservations about Hughes as Rover's manager at the start of his tenure but I'm sure that you can tell from the tone and content of all 3 posted comments (on Hughes, Ince and Maclaren...... please check) that I was not totally opposed to Hughes other than strong concern that Craig Short had stated a day or two earlier in the LET that Hughes was the player's choice, and had urged the board to appoint him. Thankfully my understanding is that once named as manager Mark Hughes immediately distanced himself from personal contact with his former team mates.

Ince's latest comments

"We can beat anyone on our day, but that hasn't happened for the last 9 or 10 games"...no Paul excluding the Cup it hasn't, but I can most definitely tell you that it's 10 not 9.

Also good to see him playing down our games against the top 4 yet again. I may have read his comments wrong, but by "looking beyond" the Manchester Utd and Liverpool games this suggests to me that he didn't think we had a hope in hell of getting anything.

He also says it's important to get a draw or a win against Wigan. I'd suggest 3 points is a MUST.

Edit: Thinking about Ince's "draw or win" remark has really worried me. If JW and the board have told him that a draw is more than acceptable this weekend then we really are in for it. Whilst we do need to stop the rot one point will do us no good right now.

i'm quite bemused by the comments of players coming out to support ince. they make statements about the fact that they should be held accountable too and they they are solidly behind their manager.

stops. thinks. oh, now they are behind him. where have they been for the last 2 months? and if they have been solidly behind him all this time and that is the way they play for him well they need to be held accountable and so does he!!!

again these comments merely demonstrate how paul ince has failed at this level of management. relegation is a huge price to pay.

The players are saying that because they are making individual mistakes which are resulting in leaked goals. I cannot wait to see Grella and Dunn as our two midfield player with MGP on the left and Emerton down the right, with Simpson at right back and Warnock at left back. I think central midfield is an area which has been very poor for two months (due largely to injuries) and the sooner we have a settled side the quicker we will get points.

I think it is a positive when EVERY player near a mic is resoundly behind the manager, as long as they now show the same commitment as they did against Liverpool- first half, we should see a victory!

Afraid I'm in Phils camp on this one. Footballing history is littered with unproven ex-players turned managers (Blackpool ). Most worrying by far is that he is supposedly the players choice!

I obviousy wish him well though and I hope that I am proven well wrong. In fact nothing would give me greater pleasure because if he fails then our days in the Prem will be consigned to the hstory books. Much will depend on his choice of assistants.......(ST anybody?)

But I just have to wonder exactly how many on here from the pro Hughes corner would have wanted him if he had never played for BRFC?

You're nearly as good as nicko at wriggling, but not quite up to his standard, this is almost exactly what you said about Ince. Seems to me these posts must take some composing in order to set yourself up for being in the right whatever the outcome.

well thanks imy9 but i am more skeptical of these players. we've all seen the the relegation bailout of 10 years ago and we know that these players will all take good care of themselves should we be so unfortunate to go down.

what concerns me is that they only now step up. dunny is a local hero and it would hurt him to be relegated. i'm concerned that they, in part, fear a new management team because they might be the ones axed to make room for new arrivals come the january transfer window.

THIS IS A ABSOLUTE QUALITY ARTICLE TAKEN FROM WISH FM IN WIGAN AND EMAILED TO ME AT WORK :

WIGAN chairman Dave Whelan believes Rovers may be faced with no alternative but to sack manager Paul Ince – unless results change – after describing the potential effects of Premier League relegation as ‘devastating’.

The former Blackburn defender insists tomorrow’s Lancashire derby at the JJB Stadium is crucial for both sides as the fight for survival continues, admitting there is enormous pressure on any top flight chief to preserve their club’s status.

Whelan, who made almost 100 appearances in a 10-year spell at Ewood Park, knows the dreaded drop would be a disaster for anyone and fears time is running out for his old club to start their great escape.

He was forced into a similar decision at Wigan this time last season, when he dismissed Chris Hutchings after just six months in charge, and believes opposite number John Williams will be feeling the increasing pressure.

Rovers go into tomorrow’s derby second from bottom in the Premier League, after a 10-match winless streak, but Ince retains the backing of his board and players after only taking charge this summer.

Whelan, though, warns a continuation of their slump in the next couple of weeks has to put Ince’s position in immediate danger, something he describes as a harsh reality of a money-orientated Premier League.

He said: “Blackburn are in the same situation as I was in this time last year, and I decided I had to make a change and sack the manager even though he had only been there for a short time.

“I know the feeling, it is awful when you have to do it but although it is not a nice thing at all sometimes you are left with little choice because of the importance of staying up.

“A decision was needed. There becomes a deadline when you are in the bottom two, when after a certain date it is very hard to climb out of it. Blackburn Rovers are in a similar boat.

“As a chairman you really feel these pressures, they are enormous.”

Whelan’s decision last season to appoint Steve Bruce as Hutchings’ successor saw Wigan climb away to Premier League safety but he admits that pivotal moment could have gone either way.

He insists he is rooting for a Rovers’ recovery in the second half of the season, as long as it is not at the expense of his own club, admitting the prospect of Championship football is not a pretty one for any Premier League chairman.

“There is massive pressure on chairmen to succeed nowadays,” said Whelan. “The Premier League is the best league in the world and to lose that status would be devastating for anyone.

“For the majority of clubs now the priority every year is survival. There is awful lot of money at stake now and that is very important to clubs like us, Blackburn and Bolton.

“Saturday is a huge game for both of us. Hopefully Blackburn bring a lot of fans and help to make it a great atmosphere

I don't know if anyone caught it, but Darren Lewis (The Mirror journo who told us to hurry up and appoint Ince) was on SSN this morning. He ended his segment by promoting his paper's piece about Ince. Lewis blasted the short termism of football, and said Ince has been let down by a lack of money and injuries to his squad. He also said players like Cruz, Pedersen, and McCarthy haven't been playing as well as they did last year. Basically any straw he could grasp at to protect his little buddy. And when the SSN presenter said that the player's form could be down to Ince, he might as well have said 'no u.'

Nope... I just don't cloud issues by letting my heart rule my head as you Paul and many on here all too frequently seem to do. I was concerned that it might be too cushty an arrangement but the man sidestepped that issue himself, otherwise I cannot see much to criticise with what I said about Hughes at the time. Can you?

I think we all know that the deed would have been done weeks ago if Jack Walker was alive. He and Whelan held autonomous positions and had no need to let boardroom politics interfere or cloud their judgement..... It's why both made fabulous fortunes. "No business runs well when run by commitee" is a truism that the trustees may need to become aware of quickly...... or live to regret.
