Top continental managers. I doubt it. there were some half way decent ones interested in the summer but top ? Who?????????????

It is no secret that Ten Cate and Laudrup either applied or were approached by the club over the summer, whilst the likes of Advocaat were linked in addition to names none of us ever knew about. At the end of the day the club decided to go for an up and coming manager in the form of Ince, who was undoubtedly the cheaper option out of any of the candidates.

Whether the club have the ambition or financial ability to go for a top, well respected coach if Ince does ever leave is another matter completely. I guess my point is that our table position and lack of ability to back a boss in the transfer market shouldn't stop us from getting a a healthy list of top employed and out of work candidates together in the event that Ince does leave.

We'll probably get Albania's most respected coach.

Or promote Matthias or Knox :o .

I really do think though that we'll get a point on Sunday, it's just the elusive victory that everybody connected to the club needs right now. You get the feeling that just one league win in our next few games could really turn it around for Ince, but will it happen?

Therein lies the problem.

how was he going to improve on an £18 million player bryan?

he was on a hiding to nothing.

he tried to sign 2 replacements for him and missed out. would a better manager have got them? who knows?

i rather think its our negotiation skills that messed up, not ince.

And Pennant's decision to stay at Liverpool rather than come to Rovers. Doesn't matter how well you negotiate - if a player prefers to sit on the bench at a higher profile team rather than play for us there's not a lot we can do. No way were we going to offer him the wages he probably thinks he deserves.

I wasn't necessarily blaming Ince.

But, for whatever reason, we could not get adequate replacements in, well, at least an adequate replacement for Bentley.

Note, I said adequate replacement, I didn't say a player who was an improvement!

agreed that was a major issue.

he went for the guys he wanted and when it didn't come off, he was probably left with a choice. Go for a third choice, or wait until Jan window and work with what he's got.

lets see how he uses jan, now that he's had the time to work with the squad and work out what he needs.

I know this is a fairly pointless question, but if we'd carried on playing in the 2nd half like we did in the first on Saturday - how many people would be so critical?

It's for this reason, that I say back Ince. He is showing that he can get the team playing incredibly well and creating loads of chances. 6 clear cut in the first half v 1 against?

Did you really think we played incredibly well?

As I've said before and no-one so far has disagreed, we only created one clear chance from open play in the entire game. That's not very good is it?

Early in the season the paulettes were saying 'don't judge him now, judge him after 12 games' He's had 13 now and is still a disaster.

Waiting another few games makes it even more likely that the season will not be saved. The January transfer window is moving ever closer and a new manager needs time to assess his squad before that happens. We need to sack Ince and his cronies NOW to give the new man a chance.

Ince has had his chance (the 12 games that were asked for) and has failed miserably.

I was saying don't judge him now, judge him after so many games. I'm thinking that a few more games is actually fair because of the injury situation. Does that make me a paulette?

What is a paulette anyway?

There are some serious misperceptions going about that need correcting.

1) Ince is no cheap option. At £1.5m per year, name me more than 30 managers earning more than he is anywhere in the world.

2) The 25% decline in the £ against the Euro makes Rovers' wage much less attractive but we are still a player for getting top continental coaches.

3) Rovers are very highly regarded as an extremely well-run established top end Premier League football club.

4) My big issue with Ince is that in the same way as if you tortured a Rovers fan to get him to say what he truly thinks about Charlton Athletic, deep deep down Ince does not see Rovers as a top Premier League football club but something he can joke with James Richardson about as being too small and not worthy for him. That attitude has come through all too clearly in the way he conducted himself when he arrived at Rovers.

Where did you hear this with James Richardson.

After 2 years at the helm, how did Hughes manage to end up in the relegation zone in December?

Explain this please.

Judge Ince after the last game of the season. (Unless we are adrift at the bottom by February)

When Richardson interviewed him as he was leaving Inter.

He was totally dismissive about Rovers despite the fact Hodgson/Walker were about to offer £6m for him.

He made it completely clear he would never go to Rovers as the club was far too small for him.

Yes it went spectacularly wrong in the 2nd, but I'd argue there is something to really work with there.

If the whole game had been bad and players not trying from start to finish, or players not creating anything at all - i'd be as critical as the next man. But I believe Ince has earned the right to put things right.

I know we are in the bottom 3, but the league is different this year - FACT. 6 points separate 3/4 of the league. Most of all have strengthened their squads - not lost their 2 best players.

Come on Incey - Let's put it right on Sunday.

Sums up my thoughts exactly, I've voted back him

If Ince was to get the sack in the next few weeks then its a straight choice between Big Sam & Dowie. Neither of which I want.

I hope the lads win on sunday or at least draw and win against Pompey.

I also think the vote is abit unfair as it was when people were angry, like its been said people dont mention something if its positive, only when they see a negative. Only 58% (including some very angry people) said to sack.

How about a new poll 'Back until Xmas','Back for another 3 games and re-assess', 'Sack Now'. I think that vote would show different results.

Sorry, but say Paul Ince and that snearing interview is the first thing that comes to mind.

Say Gerald Ashby and the sending off of Henning Berg immediately comes to mind.

Say Eric Cantona and its the kung fu kick at Palace.

Football is about irrational emotions- its the only way you get so many millions of bums on seats every season. If you take the emotion away and replace with cold rationale- forget it!

Funny how that works... Say Paul Ince to me and I see a head bandaged England player.

Say Eric Cantona and I still picture his scoring an impudent goal and then standing there with his arms out. Arrogant and annoying but impressive.

Say Gerald Ashby and I'll go googling!

How about a new vote entitled Turkeys voting for Christmas, I think it about sums up quite a few on this board! :P
