gumboots Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 That's not like you to be funny GB......... Oh I can be but mostly I just let my husband, who is a natural clown, do the funny bits, so i forget how to.

Al Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 How long would the new guy get in charge? 12 games? Say it is Big Sam and we were still in the bottom three in 12 games time what do we do then? 12 games is what you proposed, not me. Now you have changed your mind. If you make a suggestion stick by it.
cn_barlow Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 i dont know if this has been mentioned but i am very concerned with these rumours about Gueret. If he signs him then that is it in my opinion, he is obviously trying to bring in familiar faces who arent going to turn on him, even though they are nowhere near good enough!

Don't think there's anyone here who can see the point in this signing if it happens, just like we couldn't see the point in fowler. But then if Ince gets rid of fowler, he'll need another comfort blanket and perhaps this is it.
CrazyIvan Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 12 games is what you proposed, not me. Now you have changed your mind. If you make a suggestion stick by it. After 12 games we weren't in the bottom three and 45 minutes into the next game we were heading for mid-table. 45 minutes later we are in the bottom three. So after 12 games we were relatively ok and it's after the 13th game that people are calling for his head. Can you see where I'm going with this? Applying the rule that we should see how he is doing after 12 games doesn't mean we can't see how he's doing after 13 or 15 or 20 or even 38. I think he should be given at least three more games.
1864roverite Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Say Gerald Ashby and I'll go googling! just shows you have no or littl eknowledge where Rovers v manure are concerned. the aforemention prat was guilty of the biggest Premiership injustice EVER
dr_awol Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I think you are deluded if you think a top European manager will want to come to Blackburn, we have not got loads of cash and Blackburn is not exactly London is it, Big Sam is the man who could get us to a comfortable position, but I must admit it is a laugh watching Inces antics. PS most Northern Europeans speak English its the Southern Europeans that will be difficult dident say a top European manger, im not thinking we snap up barsa or real's manager. i said top 6 league manager, someone whos doing a good job, with a team prob much like us.

But many of the clubs in European leagues aren't as good as Rovers. Take the French league for example. The standard of french football is pretty poor outside the top 2 or 3 clubs. Obviously you're not thinking Barca or real or whoever, but then who are you thinking because I wouldn't see many of them doing that good a job here.
CrazyIvan Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 just shows you have no or littl eknowledge where Rovers v manure are concerned. the aforemention prat was guilty of the biggest Premiership injustice EVER Not really, I wasn't there and I didn't remember the referee. I couldn't tell you the referee who gave us the pen at Old Trafford in 2004 that was missed by Dunn until I looked it up and I was there! It was Andy D'Urso...

IF is a big word but when Ince was appointed there was no if it was how long, I'm suprised we are still in touch!

We don't have time to give him more games and it is you who is trying to move the goalposts. Stop squirming and admit it. What are these goalposts then? 12 games into the season and the jury is most definitely out. Who said I would call for Ince's head after 12 games if I thought he was godawful? I didn't. As for squirming, not a chance. I stand by what I've said. Ince has to turn it around otherwise I WILL call for his head.
broadsword Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 but the question is ... WHEN would you call for his head? I'm expecting a draw at spurs, with Bromwich not winning at Stoke, so i doubt we'd be bottom of the league come sunday night (famous last words), we then have Pompey away (maybe a draw?), Liverpool at home (we'll get stuffed) and Wigan away (a win at a stretch?) By the time wigan comes round we must surely know which way to jump. At the moment I can't see us getting more than 3 points from teh next 4 games. I hope I'm wrong.

Hughesy Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Why a straight choice beetween Big Sam or Dowie ? Are we in such a weak position ? I think not. There are hundreds of managers in Europe, and all you can think about are the two Mongs. 2 ?????, both local, both out of work and both free and both previously wanted the job. Work it out Maureen! Its almost certain one of them would get it. The club couldnt risk it on another 'Ince' type like Martinez/ D Ferguson and not much around Europe available.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I think you might be referring to the 2-2 draw with Swindon in 1993-94 when Cantona got sent off for stamping on John Moncur. I remember him stamping on a Norwich player, it was live game on T.V. He also perpetrated the worst " tackle " I've ever seen when he was playing in the French league. He ran at the guy from behind and launched himself horizontally feet first into the other players back just under his armpit ! Unbelievably violemt assault, the guy's a nut case.

The ????? were unsuitable 6 months ago and still are. I don't keep tabs on available Euro managers but lets get out there and do some old fashioned poaching. The Premierships very attractive. Forget the ????,please.
T4E Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Could we tempt Martin Jol back to the Premiership? We missed a trick with him.
1864roverite Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Aside of all the bitching. I personally think if Paul Ince gets it right on Sunday and then away at Pompy then he will still find himself on a sticky wicket because of the fact that we cannot or havent addressed our home form. What he doesnt need is the resurgent Liverpool team rolling into Ewood backed up by 7500 thieves, because in all liklihood they will steal points against us (as well as a few cars no doubt). Should we fail with any points out of the next available 9, then when we play Wigan and Stoke, the pressure will be so intense that I think it will become infectious on the whole club, but most importantly the fans at the matches. Rovers have to be looking at the New Year with a minimum of 20 points on the board before the FA Cup 3rd round becuase after that it becomes so much harder to get the points. I just dont see the New Year impetus for Rovers like we have seen over recent years when we have gone on a run and bagged say 20 plus points from 30 on offer. I am pretty sad to see no comments from John WIlliams about our predicament and position, which remain perilous. I genuinely want the guy to come good, but, with the current level of player fitness, the current backroom staff, I fail to see a way out of our current position. I know its tight but points have to be won and quickly. If Ince wins us over great, if the failure is prolific, and by that I mean lose the next 3 games or fail to take at least 7 points from the next 15 the club have no option but to sack him or to take such action to replace the other backroom staff. Yes it is a hard call but sacking managers is always a tough decision to make, it just has to be done at the right moment and that moment is imminent.

Claytons Left Boot Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Do you get a second chance if you take the cheap option i.e. darwen and fail. can you then do the expensive continental jump? Yes, certainly gummy! I wouldn't really suggest the first option though. Whilst you would get good views of the quaint market town of Darwen, nestling amongst moorland and its townfolk as pure as the driven snow, unfortunately, if you jumped off facing east, you would get views of Pendle and Burnley territory. You would't want that. Option two is better. Good height and a view of the sea. However the town is full of chavs and smells a bit. Remote possibility of large sand castle being built on the beach to cushion your fall. Would then have to witness both demise of Ince and reign of BFS. Don't do it. Third option - now we're talking! Tower so high it's certain death. Beautiful city, lovely culture, nice food and wines. Moulin Rouge. Good view of the Seine on the way down and from such a height that you would get at least eight renditions of "Rovers 'til I die" before you did so. Recommended!

Face the facts - Ince is out of his depth and Rovers' future is very bleak and will continue to be so if he remains in charge. He needs to be sacked before he inflicts further damage.
CrazyIvan Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You are an apologist for an abject failure. Oh am I? I'm sick of this. I say anything positive and I get people calling me a paullette and jumping on anything I say. It's pointless.
