broadsword Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Given how the first team played sunday, I'm not surprised someone who;s bveen out of football for 3 years doesn't look out of place training with them.
bob fleming Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Teletext! " Jansen is training with the first team and doesn't look out of place" - Ince --- OOooooonnnnnnoooooooooo! You're guaranteed a good quote a day from the manager.

One thing though it would be the highlight of the season to see Matty score at the BBE. Can you imagine the reaction?

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 One thing though it would be the highlight of the season to see Matty score at the BBE. Can you imagine the reaction? Prophetic. I seem to remember he scored against Pompy (guess who is next) on his return/Hughes first game. Deja Vu? I hope so.
Athlete Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 You're guaranteed a good quote a day from the manager. someone said Ince's putting in an appearance at the next comedy club night at king georges hall cos most things what come out his gob are a joke !
The Harwood Yankee Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Another Ince comedy classic was in the interview after the Spurs game: Interviewer: 'How do you think you'll turn things round?' Ince: 'By playing like we did today.' Er, Paul - you just lost one-nil against the team below you playing like that!!

67splitscreen Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Seem's the penny has dropped with Nelson at least. Nelson demands
John Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 There is no clear line of thought process in anything Ince has done since he arrived here. We can hope he learns from his mistakes but the clock is ticking.
Billy Castell Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Ince was a big risk that could have ended up being brilliant. Sadly it has so far been a near-complete disaster, and unless by some miracle we gain something like 50 points in our remaining games Ince has to go.
tonygreenbank Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Vert good article. Interesting to read that Ince has been playing golf rather than doing his coaching badges. If that is the case then it is a breach of contract, because I believe Rovers wrote into Ince's contract that he had to do his badges. As to wether that is sufficient to sack him in itself, I do not know. If it is then it should save Rovers money in the compensation bill I am pretty certain that this refers to his time at MKDons. It was mentioned at the time of his appointment. The journalist has simply put the spin he wants to convey. Sports journalists now no longer just want to write a match report; they feel the need to pontificate on all sorts of issues to be taken seriously. Just reading the ITV teletext pages today we have claims for Keane to go and also Moyes " he`s taken us as far as he can". I remember once Houlier saying that message boards and phone-ins by fans should be curtailed as they make a manager`s job more difficult. I have to agree with him. I have great sympathy with managers as they have a very difficult job to do. I know thet get well remunerated but the criticism they take is very demanding. I would never criticise a manager`s performance as I have not done the job. I am quite happy to let the board assess his performance as they are in possession of the facts. We supporters just dont know what goes on from day to day. This constant making fun of Ince and his dress sense, his language and demeanor does not sit well with me.

T4E Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Seem's the penny has dropped with Nelson at least. Nelson demands Nice to see our captain rallying the troops - I suppose it's easier when it's someone else making the mistakes.
thenodrog Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 You're missing the point of the piece in that English football has this strange notion that top players will automatically become top managers and are given big managerial jobs too early in their careers for which they have no experience and for which their only qualification is that they were a big name in their playing days. Ince wasn't ready to manage Rovers (and neither was Hughes IMO albeit that particular gamble paid off) and should never have been considered for the job. The age old term in business for that recurring phenomenon is called 'Promotion to incompetence'. There is simply no reason to suggest that the best players make the best managers. I suggest that theory is currently being borne out by our cricket and rugby teams too.
Alex Rover Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 One thing though it would be the highlight of the season to see Matty score at the BBE. Can you imagine the reaction? After being 0-5 down and grabbing a last minute consolation
robbojohnno Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 He has to go at the latest after the Pompey game, it will be the first game I miss this season as I just cant afford to spend £65 on that long a day watching that guy let us down again.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 One thing though it would be the highlight of the season to see Matty score at the BBE. Can you imagine the reaction? At this rate Paul there'll be bugger all there to see it happen!
tonygreenbank Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 The salient fact is we are next to bottom of the premiership! But, Yoda, only 6 points from Europe! The table can fluctuate so quickly. It depends how positive you are! Rovers will I`m sure be around the lower reaches of the league all season as we undergo great changes at the club. Various players are coming for trial; some positive comments about the Norwegian today and others who will hopefully bring us success.
T4E Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 But, Yoda, only 6 points from Europe! These sorts of comments are such nonsense. First of all, the European places start at 5th, which we are 10 points off. If one of the top 5 wins a cup, it'll go to 6th, which we're 9 points off. There's a slight chance they'll go down to 7th, but it's by no means guaranteed. That aside, we'd have to win two games and hope every team between 18th and 7th doesn't pick up a point in the meantime - a mathematical impossibility.

John Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 as we undergo great changes at the club. What 'great' changes are these??
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 The great change in Leagues of course!
