philipl Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Very unhappy with Ince condoning Olsson's trashing of the visitor's dressing room at Spuds as "passion".

47er Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Nice to see our captain rallying the troops - I suppose it's easier when it's someone else making the mistakes. I don't think he's got it right anyway. The whole structure of the team is wrong--------utterly weak in mid-field,no wingers,no service to the strikers, players in wrong positions, bad substitutions etc. No wonder the mistakes come. I wanted to go to ewood with an expectation of a win. Not necessarily a certainty, but the feeling that most games you had a better than even chance of winning and therefore, barring accidents, you would. It happened at spells during Hughes's reign and I wanted to get back to it. you need Sam!
tony gale's mic Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Very unhappy with Ince condoning Olsson's trashing of the visitor's dressing room at Spuds as "passion". Indeed. Passion is being down at the training ground, first thing, trying your guts out and racking your brains to rectify the mistakes you made. Not being a thug. Being a quality player who also bordered on the thug sometimes himself he probably did both in his time and can't make that distinction.

No I don't because then I simply won't go to Ewood.
philipl Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Just ploughed through the Rovers newswire stuff. I've gone from elated to depressed; it is obvious Ince should be sacked now. It is just so clear that Rovers are a club in total crisis headed by a clueless nonce. Let's see whether mighty Hull City can lure away our apparent number one transfer target to KC and the Sunshine Gang rather than have a trial at grim Ewood. Good to see the odds against Ince going quickly have halved.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I am stunned! What a fickle bunch of rubber dinghy men you all are! Stunned!
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Very unhappy with Ince condoning Olsson's trashing of the visitor's dressing room at Spuds as "passion". Yes - far better to fine, and publically humiliate the only back up "genuine" left back we have. Who , while Warnock is used as an emergency midfield player - will no doubt be needed again. One of the few things that Ince has done right - is show a bit of confidence in the youngsters - and on the whole it has showed in their performances. Ince played under Fergie for a number of years - maybe, just maybe, he has actually learnt that it isn't always best to lambast your players via the press - but to do it behind closed doors. The one thing that goes when you have a long winless run is confidence - maybe Ince is trying to keep the players chins up ? Would seem sensible to me ! You seem to have been drawn into the hysteria that has descended on this board. Players are always linked with a number of clubs - it is what agents are paid for ! BTW - how do you know he is our No 1 target - I didn't know you and Ince were on such good terms

Fergie never publicly praised his players when it came to those things though. He's often criticised them in the press anyway but even when he hasn't he's just kept mum about it. Our youngsters haven't exactly set the world on fire? In general they've been okay, but nothing to get remotely excited about.
Tris Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Very unhappy with Ince condoning Olsson's trashing of the visitor's dressing room at Spuds as "passion". Stop rocking the boat. Give a direct quote, and more to the point, concentrate on Sunday - it's a must win v Pompey.
thecomebackid Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Good breakdown on the English Manager syndrome Whilst I think Ince should go, I still think that if given a number of years plying the trade in the lower divisions he will turn out to be a good manager. I hadn't really thought about it this much before but English clubs do rush to sign the next potential superstar Manager quite regulary before their time. When you look at the most successful Managers they have generally did the hard yards for years before being given what is a dream slot as a Premier League Manager. Could we not just loan Ince out for the rest of the season? Leicester were after him weren't they? Only kidding.
mark Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 a clueless nonce. so, our boss is a nonce to boot eh phil? another useful post, well done.
dave birch Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I'm sorry guys, but Ince, is into game -1 for me. BTW, I haven't voted above, and Rev, I haven't changed my mind, are you changing yours?

Bit much calling Paul Ince a nonce - he may be a bad football manager etc. But that does not make him a child molestor, rapist, low life etc. We may not like what is happening at Rovers but no need to sink to gutter life comments.
broadsword Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Maybe he meant to type: "clueless Ince"? I see no-one's picking him up on the "clueless" part.

Clueless comes in the realms of being a bad manager. But to give Philip his due he does not normally come out with such comments about people. We all say unintentional things when angry - which is probable what he has done this time.

Until now, I thought it meant fool.

Mr Creosote Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I wasn't overly enamoured with Ince's appointment but I firmly believed that he should be given a chance especially in the face of those who, for reasons best known to themselves, steadfastly refused to do so. Obviously since then it's hardly been impressive. Firstly was his unbelievably daft remark about us not being a bottom three club YET in his press conference which clearly startled John Williams. Then there was the failure to replace David Bentley and his refusal to distance himself from rumours he was a target for Newcastle. Along with pathetic and embarassing capitulations to three of the big four, comments about other clubs, dismal performances against the likes of Boro and Sunderland and our current depressing and deeply worrying malaise means his fund of good will is now in deficit at least with me and the lads I go to the match with. It's gone last orders in The Last Chance Saloon as far as I'm concerned. He needs to go now whilst we can still save our Premiership skins. Problem is who will want the gig? They wont be queueing around the block to take over a disorganised rabble that seemingly dosn't have sufficient professional pride in themselves and owners who are equally disinterested. Depressing times and when/if Ince goes I have a feeling many of us aren't going to like the taste of the medicine administered. ( I seriously hope this post bites me on the @rse )
Jackson Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Despite having much of the Summer, for better or worse, I believe that JW may give Ince until next year to prove his worth. I think that Ince will be given a chance to bring his own players in, in January, and be allowed the opportunity to show what he can do with "his" squad.
gillibrand Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 It is a big battle to get into the Premiership, and having thrown away our Premiership existence before surely we are not going to throw it away again with Ince?

How on earth, did anyone on here deny him his chance. No-one has any influence over his transfer dealings, tactics, team selections or even his interviews. A touch of bitterness from people with opposite views methinks and a recurring theme as well.
