Left-wing nonsense from Oliver Holt.

Ince is feeling the heat because he's taken a top seven side into the relegation zone (after joking that he would). No more, no less. I'd say Holt is being racist himself in using Ince's ethnicity to cover over that.

That really worries me. I just dont see how a couple of young Egyptian lads are what we need to get us out of this mess. To me the back four should always consist of Warnock, Ooijer and Nelsen. Simpson needs to be sent back to Utd and replaced with a no-nonsence, experienced DEFENDER to fill the right back berth.

Villanueva needs to be sent back. Our midfield needs an experienced "muck and bullets" midfielder to supplement the energy of Emerton or Andrews.

Pedersen has had his chance. I'm not convinced by Treacey but his crosses at least generally reach the 18 yard box. We need a right winger to supplement Treacey and both need to be told to get wide and load the boxes with crosses.

Finally Santa Cruz should have his aerial and all round ability complemented by the speed and finishing prowess of Derbyshire.

These should be givens injury and suspension permitting.

Nothing fancy, not rocket science.

How about a cheeky bid for a right back who has recently lost his first team place to a younger rival and is a pal of the boss. Gary Neville anyone? How about a return for Lee Carsley?

Agree entirely about Pedersen - just not good enough.

Disagree about Nelsen though - he needs to be dropped as he's been a liability this season. Zurab and Ooijer are both better and one or the other should partner Samba.

Andrews is simply not good enough, and last weekend's midfield of him and Moko is easily the worst I've seen in 26 years if watching Rovers. However, Villanueva has shown enough to suggest he's worth keeping. Isn't Grella supposed to be the 'muck and bullets' midfielder, at least in Ince's eyes?

Disagree entirely about Derbyshire - nowhere near good enough and too lightweight for the Prem. He's had more than his fair share of chances to impress when starting games and has failed to do so every time.

You say Derbs has had his fair share of chances to impress, I have to disagree with that

When did he last start a game in his favoured position??

He's been lumped out on the wing all season, he's not a winger, he's a striker. Give him a run of games up front and judge him on that.

It isn't good. There are genuine questions about Ince's ability, not his colour. His colour has nothing to do with it.

No. in most if not all people's cases it doesn't. I don't think Ince looks like he's going to turn our club's fortunes around and if i were racist i would be out of my job instantly. It's disgraceful he even dares to suggest it.

That is the most stupid article I've seen. It' pretty obvious why fans are worried, you only have to look at the league table <_< .

Ah, but "Sensible rovers fans are worried because they see their team playing poor football and in the bottom 3" doesn't quite have the ring of "Blackburn fans turn on manager because they're racist" does it?

I don't think that JW will have the minerals to get rid of Ince before Christmas. Just hope that Ince is backed finacially in January. Think we should have a bit of a clear out personally and think that Ince may well ahve the guts to do so.

Out in Jan or before that: INCE

Delusional mate, i wouldnt trust Ince with the keys to my car not to mind a few millions.

Ince has no guts, just trying to be friendly and saying the performance against spurs was super! If he was anyway gutty he would have said they played utter tripe!

We were already half way down when Kidd arrived. Your mate Ince has single handedly took us to where we are now and will single handedly take us down if JW doesn't get the guts to admit that appointing Ince has to be one of the biggest ball ups he could have made...

As much as I now want Ince out, the players on the field have also to shoulder some / a lot of the blame for Rovers league position. Rovers have had chances to score goals and not taken the chances. Ince cannot be blamed for that - sadly.

The Rovers board does not have the courage to sack Ince - or also knowledge who to appoint in his place. Maybe there was such a frenzy against BFS that today the board feel that they only have a choice between Ince or BFS. If Rovers sacked Ince and appointed BFS there would be mixed emotions even on this messageboard.

That Oliver Holt thing is just a disgrace.

A truly shameful piece of "journalism".

I just rung up the Daily Mirror with regards to this article, and spoke to a chap called Ben Rankin who is their Deputy Editor. I pointed out how bias and how unevenly balanced that article was.

For example, putting the clubs poor form down to one player being sold, in David Bentley, and him being our "best player". I pointed out that both i, and the vast majority of the fans were in the belief that Roque Santa Cruz was the better and more valuable player.

I also pointed out, that the person who didnt replace David Bentley was Paul Ince, not racism, just common sense. I went on to explain that his excuse of not knowing who best to replace him with, was a very poor excuse, as any manager getting into Premier League management, should have a knowledge of capable footballers who could work in the Premier League, not to mention fellow achievable players in that league playing for other clubs. Also, taking into consideration, Ince's 20 years in top flight football.

He then asked how much Bentley was sold for to make a point. Which i replied, £17 million, and then he asked how much i thought Roque would be worth, to which i replied, around the £20 million mark, or more depending on whether Manchester City kept plugging away.

He then went into this awkward ramble about how the article written by Mr Holt was just a column, and that it was primarly "his opinion". I then pointed out, that in todays current climate, suggesting that a club is racist because of its disappointment of a managers performance in getting its team to be half as successfull as the previous season, was very "lazy journalism" and quite frankly, a very worrying accusation to make of a club based in a town with a such varied cultural population. I asked him, if the World had really got so pathetic that lies about racism, were perfectly acceptable to be published for millions of people to read on a International website... To which he gave me a sports director or some such's email address, as Mr Holts email address was not available as yet. Presumably to get me off the phone, as he wasn't expecting anybody to call to dispute the article...

Let me state for the record. The Daily Mirror is a excellent newspaper, with a very varied evenly balanced report of footballing news. But this article is trully unacceptable.

Also, just to add, that if anybody wants to put some time aside, and dispute this article, feel free to write to: [email protected] ;)

Just to add further, Holt has got his own article on Wiki. Apparently, he is not well known for making friends: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Holt

He joined the Daily Mirror in 2002 as the Chief Sports Writer, where he has covered many notable sports events.

In February 2007, Holt criticised Reading Football Club, prompting a backlash from many Reading F.C. fans, who even went as far as changing his Wikipedia entry numerous times. Oliver responded by saying that he'd like his Wikipedia article renamed "The Madejski Page". He appeared on BBC Radio Berkshire on 23 February 2007 to explain his dislike for the club, later referring in his column to the presenter Tim Dellor as 'a cheerleader masquerading as a journalist'. In the same column, he sarcastically suggested that the town of Reading should be renamed Madejskiville and the county of Berkshire renamed Madejskia, due to the fact that Reading F.C.'s board named the club's stadium after the man who funded it, John Madejski, the club chairman. He also claimed to have received death threats from Reading fans.

Holt continued to criticise Reading FC when appearing on BBC Radio 5 Live show, Sport on Five, on the 17th February 2008. He took issue with Reading FC's policy towards the FA Cup with particular reference to Steve Coppell's and Dave Kitson's comments.

It's completely irrelevant.

At the time I thought it was quite witty and lightened the mood of the Press Conference.

It's all about the performances and results. If we were flying high in the table no-one would have given that throwaway comment a second thought.

AT LEAST HE HAS KEPT TO HIS WORD

Agree with all of that. I think the reality will be that the Club will probably stick with Ince and I am not enthused by any of these triallists coming in at all.

AND YOUR HAPPY WITH ANDREWS ?

Come Rev wake up and smell the coffee

Disgraceful article by Holt. Race has absolutely nothing to do with it, this is a results based business it’s as simple as that.

So if we got relegated for the first time in 10 years, and dare sack Paul Ince, we are racist!:rolleyes: Oh dear god, whats happened to this country...?

His picture: http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m3/feb2007/...AB9235DB378.jpg

Why do you think it is that Paul Ince is being written off as a manager only a few games into his first job in the Premier League?

Because were bottom of the league with nearly half the season gone? Damn Bolton for sacking Sammy Lee! They must hate Liverpudlians!

Why do you think nobody's cutting him the same kind of slack we cut Roy Keane, even though Keane's spent 10 times as much money?

Oh right, so its a recognised fact now is it, that you have to spend as much as Sunderland and the likes to do well. Their i was thinking we hadnt changed that much squad wise since last season, and were still at the bottom of the table? Has nothing to do with Bentley leaving, Ince had the money to spend. Why didnt he?

Why do you think Ince is characterised as a novice when he stands up for his team while other bosses doing the same are praised for their passion?

1- Because this is his first season in management in the Premier League? 2- Because the vast majority of his post match reviews are so inaccurate. For example, he said the other day Olsson's red card was harsh. When the vast majority of us (the fans) and the media by the way! Said it was justified? Does that mean the media is racist Holt? 3- How many players have been played out of position this season, regardless of injury! Their were better options. Or do we dare not disagree with his team lineups for fear of being called a racist?

Why do you think nobody's mentioning the fact that when he took over at Blackburn, he had to cope with the sale of his best player?

As i already said, he could have NOT sold him, and waited till January to sell him, till he had a knowledge of who best to replace him, but 'he' chose to sell him...

Oh and FYI (Holt) Bentley was never our best player?

Why do you think that, given his budget restrictions, few people are suggesting he's not made such a bad start?

Because were bottom of the league with half the season gone. Oh yeah, well done Ince!

Or do we put it down to the lack of money he has available, when he has already said he had money to spend but didnt know who to spend it on, due to not having enough time to scout when he hasn't been in the job long?

But hey, lets just put it this way, the club doesnt spend, must mean the money isnt available so the club must be racist. It's not like Hughes didn't sign any successfull players? It's not like Ince had the money from Bentley's sale to spend...?

There is so much frustration around that it is a shame to waste energy on idiots like Holt taking advantage of Rovers present position and exploiting it for quite shameful reasons of his own. He is vermin of no conscience so to get upset at his remarks is a waste of time.

I like most of you don't care what colour Ince may or may not be. That is not the issue. Our current position, tactics, player usage and the body language of Ince and the team lets us know we have a serious problem.

Living abroad I have been fortunate enough to see every Rovers game live on TV the season and for past seasons - I get to Ewood at least once a season and this year saw us v Arsenal.

Like many of you I have followed Rovers for many years and always will. This current team/formation/attitude is the worst I have ever seen.

The Title year was great but so were the early 60's and seeing Garner etc etc. Currently it is not enjoyable to watch Rovers - we look incompetent. Why is that when there are quality players in the team. I think we know the answer.

Ince as a player was above average but as a team manager and man manager he is simply not good enough. If he stays we will go down.

Williams must take action now or it will be down we go to maybe years of oblivion.

I am assuming that Williams and the Board actually watch games - you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that we are playing rubbish.
