A case of empty vessels making the most noise.

I've been going to Rovers for over 35 years and whilst there has been some iffy chants in BBE (esp.20 years ago) The racist element is nowhere near as bad as you are making out.

Blimey Jan your post reads as if because you've got an idiot in your office - who incidentally happens to be black - you've tarred Ince with the same brush since day one.

If the numpty in your office wasn't black (or whatever), I could understand your point.

I was surprised when Jan was ranting about Ince pre-season being ‘another John Barnes’ or words to that effect.

Her comparison, not mine.

Ince is generally perceived to be a big mouthed, arrogant thug, but was a damn good hard as nails central midfielder with no little skill. Oh the irony; what we would give for an Ince Mark II in our midfield now!

If memory serves me right, John Barnes on the other hand was perceived as a genial, unassuming but eloquent (By eighties’ footballer standards at least) son of a Brigadier, who was a silky-skilled winger for Watford and Liverpool, although he rather lived on his reputation when playing for England.

The only shared characteristic I can see between either of man is that they are both black and now both are ex-black internationals that have gone on to manage (thus far unsuccessfully) British clubs.

Jan has mentioned the Barnes connection on more than one occasion when commenting about Ince.

Now she’s at it again regarding the black guy in her office.

Could it be just a slip of the keyboard?

Or is it that Jan’s libido is subconsciously scurrying round and round to such anticlimactic similar effect to Keith Andrews on roller skates is causing such apparent fixation?

Yes that's right. We are not to panic, time is needed - especially as Ince has done it the "right way" - up through the ranks.

Wouldn't want any more foreigners. Why, when you can have great British shining examples of articulate and intelligent management, like Paul and Roy.

When we are swimming in the Championship, I personally won't mind as we willl have done it the "right way".

If the "old school" get results, give me a foreign pensioner any day.

In an interview on Radio Lancs this morning, Ince was saying he was committed to the team playing football-it was the way he had played during his career and he wasn't about to change styles.

He went on say, that to be fair, we had played some pretty decent football at times, had made chances, just hadn't put them away.

He's right about the chances. Problem is that his job rests on goals being scored as much as keeping clean sheets much more than playing 'decent stuff' and while the team isn't taking their chances and shipping goals his support dries up and the team drops down the league. It really is a simple as that. His job is on the line because we're not scoring the goals. That might seem like an over-simplification but put us two or three up in the first half against Sunderland, a couple up against Hull and a few more chances taken like Benni's against Spurs and where are we in the league?

Jonathan Wilson answered in the Sunderland preview as a fan-it was also mentioned that he is a football journalist for the Financial Times.

In Saturday's paper there was a large picture of Roque next to an article entitled " Slow starters trigger tight relegation battle."

He argues that the promoted teams have done better than expected and some established teams, such as Everton and Spurs amongst others, have done worse than expected.

He says about Spurs........" as always seemed likely, (they have) a squad of rather more quality than they showed in the early weeks of the season.

Blackburn, though, are a different case. Three points from seven games is a worrying slump that tends to give credence to rumours of discontent at Paul Ince's supposedly old-fashioned training methods.

......... The only side with a worse record over the last seven games is West Ham, who lie fourth bottom and travel tomorrow to inconsistent Sunderland."

As West Ham beat Sunderland, we presumably have the worst record over the last 8 games?

Well we'd be naive to think that the club's owners over the years might not have reflected some of the backward views held by some elements of this message board, although I'm confident that today's senior officials wouldn't use some of the small minded prejudice that spills out here from time to time.

As some on here have correctly presumed, you can read into Inces' comments today that he has the Board's full backing.

The more I read his comments to the press, the more it seems he trys to back himself up every time. Whether its to do with Andrews (saying he is worth every penny), Robinson (saying he is the best goalkeeper in the league), playing football the right way (we will continue to do so as it is his principles), limited funds (mentions this every time he speaks to the press).

Personal opinion, but I just find it annoying, and as if it to say, I am doing well with what I have got.

It's as though he's trying to deceive himself John. I think it shows his inexperience at this level of management and he gone and bought the book 101 excuses.

Indeed, there's absolutely no urgency in his words, absolutely none whatsoever. It's like he doesn't even care.

Would there be urgency in Hughes' words at this stage of the season? I think Ince is merely trying to relieve pressure off the players (which is not a bad idea).

...a little bit more honesty Rev from the manager would repair the damage caused by his inexperience in communication. I would also suggest a little humble pie down his neck with the Vogel situation might also assit his current midfield issues.

On the trite side of life, if he changed the colour of his suit to say Black or Blue our luck might change !!! ;)

Rubbish, what do you want him to say publically?

"I'm not good enough and we're all doomed Captain Mainwaring. Doomed!"

Before the Spurs game he laughed at the idea that we had a chance of going down, I can't remember exactly what he said but he basically acted like it wasn't even a possibility.

That infamous opening press conference joke before - people will say we're criticising over small things but that just fits in with his attitude, most managers wouldnt say that as theyd know at a club like us there was a small chance itd come back to bite them.

All his talk is that things are going fine, theyre going okay and we just need to carry on as we are doing.

I want him to acknowledge there are several problems with the side and those things need changing. That's what most managers will do/have done in a similar position.

Yes I'm still stunned at the reaction by the vast majority to our mediocre start to the season.

Would a win at OT (extremely unlikely under any manager) change your fickle opinions?

Give the guy time!!!

Mediocre??!! Mediocre?? Are you actually having a laugh?!

Mediocre for a side which has consistently challenged for Europe would be 12th or so. NOT 19th. We have the worst form in the League, could be 4 points adrift in the relegation zone if we lose on Sunday (since the rest have winnable fixtures) with Liverpool to play next. Wakey wakey, rise and shine.

What's a win at OT got to do with it? It doesn't look like happening, and if we produce an excellent display completely out of kilter with the dross that's been served up this season and come away with a deserved win then my opinion will change a bit. Even then, one swallow doesn't make a summer and it'd still be vastly outweighed by the other performances. If we produce a terrible display and somehow fluke a victory then it won't change my opinion much.

Give the guy time! Shall we give him a season maybe, finish 19th and then see how we do next season?
