bob fleming Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Yep - the board have had the balls to get rid before the fans have needed to make too much noise. Does our current board have the bottle? I don't think we're quite there yet Tugay. To my mind we're probably round about here... With big games coming up. I'll just state again that I do hope he turns it round - but have big doubts. That's not to say I'll not be right behind the team when I watch them next v Liverpool.

John Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Ince maintains he will stick to his principles and has no intention of changing Blackburn's style in order to get them out of their current rut.
roverfanuk Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 In a poll on TEAMtalk.com, Paul Ince is the favourate manager to be the next one to be sacked: TEAMtalk Poll Who do you think will be the next Premier League manager to leave their hotseat? Arsene Wenger - 10% Paul Ince - 37% Gary Megson - 6% Joe Kinnear - 12% Tony Adams - 4% Roy Keane - 5% Tony Mowbray - 8% Gianfranco Zola - 13% Steve Bruce - 2% Other - 3%
Amo Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Ince maintains he will stick to his principles and has no intention of changing Blackburn's style in order to get them out of their current rut. "The players enjoy the way we play. If you play 4-5-1 it invites pressure on you and it can work both ways." The only players who enjoy our football are the opposition.
Silencio Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Great to hear the players are coming in laughing and joking cos none of us are finding it very funny. Another load of drivel from Ince. We should be looking to change how we play because we are playing shocking stuff.
gillibrand Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I think Warnock must be on something because he thinks we will be challenging for a European spot come the end of the season.
roverfanuk Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I think Warnock must be on something because he thinks we will be challenging for a European spot come the end of the season. Either that or he is building up as Bentley did last season. Ie, "we didn't get European football to further my career as i expected so i want out"...
OscarRaven Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Is 4pts enough from the next two games to keep Ince in a job?
Billy Castell Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Close the club down. Nothing is worth this much anger and dispair, so we should just play a 1-5-4 formation and then wind the club up at the end of the season and walk away. Sell all the players etc., and put the money somewhere safe. Then in 3 years or so, when people get sick of Burnley, form Blackburn Athletic/Town/Albion and get as many local people involved in the club as possible. Try and structure it like a mini Barcelona when the new club is in the lower leagues, and use the money from selling players to create a strong youth set up so kids from all over Lancashire can come and play and get good coaching. If the new club does not reach the Premiership, so what? It'll be our club, with our kids playing for them at whatever level, and we can feel involved in the club, and not just like homeless people pressing their noses up against the windows of Harrods. I know I'll be the only one who'd be OK with this plan, but Blackburn Rovers Football Club offers me nothing but frustration and depression, and football as a whole is akin to Elvis when he was fat and overblown in Las Vegas. I apologise for getting all Ron Manager, but I just wish all the greed, hype and stress would go away. Football should to be something you can enjoy, not feel pressured and hassled by it 9 months of the year, stressing about the star player leaving every few months etc. Oh, and to get this back on track, if we lose our next game, consider me part of the Ince Out group. Or the 'football is all full of ____' group.
Paul Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Is 4pts enough from the next two games to keep Ince in a job? Yes I think so. If we get 4 points from the next two and 6 or 7 from Wigan, Stoke, Sunderland things will look very different. And who's to say if we get a win at Pompey the players won't have the confidence to move forward? The more I read on here the more I think there's an anti-Ince agenda amongst some fans and a very large group for whom Ince can't do right under any circumstances. TBH I'm surprised by the remarks being made by some folk. Recently I've reserved my comments to games I see live, it's the only real way to make a judgement. I didn't think we looked as poor against Spurs as we did against Sunderland so perhaps we are moving in the right direction. If we lose to Pompey I shall say nothing, against Liverpool I'll comment on what I see. I'm very worried by our slide down the table, I don't see any real signs it's going to improve but I can't influence any of this so I sit back and wait for the Liverpool match. I agree with many fans observations about our play, especially the lack of chances created but this has more to do with the sale of Bentley than anyhting. None of us fully appreciated the depth of his contribution - probably Ince and the board underestimated it as well. I'm not an Ince fan and I'm waiting for him to win me over (that's been my position from day one), I hope he can because I don't think Williams will ask him to leave. It's time for this sniping to stop. It will not win a single point for Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
Hughesy Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Is 4pts enough from the next two games to keep Ince in a job? Yes. That would be two good results, whichever way they come.
92er Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 But will it? JW caved in to the fans over BFS, we are on our worst run in over ten years, gates are down was it 3,000 on last year? Boo's can be heard at the ground now, how much displeasure must we show? According to a table in today's Daily Telegraph, our average attendance is down 2047.
martonrover Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Whatever your viewpoint there surely can be no dispute that Sunday's game is huge both for the Club and Ince. Win and we stay in touch with over half the clubs in the League and Ince buys more time. Lose and we become candidates to be cut adrift in the bottom 3. I still don't buy this idea that the Board have decided to stick with him. Unless there's an upturn in the next few weeks they will have to make a decision one way or the other as it will be too late to make a change by the New Year.

92er Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 A quite clearly angered Richard Dinnis was on Radio Lancs football special tonight. When he got onto the Rovers, he argued there was a real contrast between the over-performance of MH's team and the under-performance of Ince's team. He stated that Premier League players were entitled to coaching by Premier League calibre coaches and he didn't think this was happening-are the current coaches of the necessary standard? As an example, he talked about Olsson's performance on Sunday. Did the coaching staff talk him through on a one to one basis of how to deal with Lennon, or indeed Bentley; Olsson afterall is a very young, inexperienced defender who has a very limited number of Premier starts. Where was Olsson's cover? Normally MGP is very good at covering the full back but he didn't seem to be doing this on Sunday. Was he given different instructions? Similarly, he didn't get any cover from Nelsen. Why not? Winterburn. Does he want to be a defensive coach or a Sky pundit? If we need a defensive coach, we need a full-time one rather than a part time one.
Majiball Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 According to a table in today's Daily Telegraph, our average attendance is down 2047. My bad, thought it was as I had stated. I did find this though every club in the countries attendance and I mean every club We're sitting pretty at 23!!!! I was actually surprised its higher than I expected.

Billy Castell Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I think Ince needs some coaches and an assistant who have had experience in top flight coaching. I can see why Mathias came along, as he has been a close collegue of Paul's in his previous jobs, and Ray has been around for a while. However, he has never been in the Premiership. Perhaps if Ince had someone like Steve Clarke before he went to the Whammers as his assistant, things may not have been so crap. Whilst it doesn't help that the only person who didn't go with Hughes was the cleaner, and the new coaching team needed to be introduced to each other, there have been some pretty ineffective appointments. You know who I mean here.......................

MCMC1875 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Majiball - when Rovers crowd turn, they turn. Believe me. It's been years of course but the scenes at the end of Bob Saxton's reign weren't good. Can anyone remember bonfires on the Blackburn End, protesting on Nuttall St after the match (I can vaguely)? Hostile stuff. Managers since then have had it easy - for obvious reasons in most cases. I was on Nuttall St that Saturday! There were 4 or 5 of us and our picture was printed in the Evening Telegraph to prove it. Peter White wrote 'Some fans protested outside the ground after the match but their actions seemed mis-directed...'. ....It did the trick though - that was his last game!
