I've actually been in this position, not with ICI, but offered a job with a fabulous salary which I knew to be beyond my capabilities. I turned it down knowing I'd be found out eventually. This is where Ince is most culpable, he must have known he hadn't the experience to take the position and should have had the sense to refuse the offer.

That must be one of the daftest posts I have ever read.

Anyone offered a "fabulous" salary (including Ince) would grab it with both hands and give the job their best shot.

I got a response to my email to John Williams. I'll copy it in full. He's a man under real pressure.

Dear Janice

I've been at the club for 12 years (most of those sadly without Jack). I've always done what I believe is right for the club and will continue to do so.

Yours sincerely

John Williams

Chairman

£400,000 a year and that's the best he can do ? Pathetic.

With so many self-styled high rollers posting on here (comprising amongst them one should imagine a fair slice of the entire GDP of the UK and Malta), it really is a riddle as to why the Trustees are struggling to find wealthy backers to fund the club.

Possibly because we didn't take the jobs? ;)

Why cant people give paul ince a break, yes are start to the season has been bad but is not all down to ince, when he came he had to dal with the sale of two of our best player-friedal and bentley, without bentley we lack any creativity

He shouldn't have sold them then. The one single, biggest factor in rovers current problems, is Ince's decision to let Bentley go. It's caused us problem's not just on the right wing, but at full back and central midfield as well.

Huge, huge misjudgement and it might cost him his job.

Mathias was an option C choice. He does not have any experience at this level, and is a failed manager himself. If Ince does not have the experience to manage at this level, what does that say about a man that was unemployed until Ince took him to Macclesfield?

No he doesn't, however he has his trust and was always coming. If you where taking over the club under the remit you have choosen would you not want someone you knew and trusted especially if you felt it had come too soon, I would. However I would also see that experience of the situation is needed and that can be covered with all the other positions:

1st team coaches *2

Sports science *2

Reserve team boss *1

Part-time defencive coach *1

Almost every manager appointted ever has brought in one or two of his own, its expected. What was not expected was for all of them to be his mates.

Ince's job was allegedly subject to him attending the appropriate UEFA (?) coaches course.

Anyone know if he has actually attended?

Anyone know if it is a pass/fail course or do you just have to turn up?

Does the awarding college (?) have to validate the course in order to receive public funding?

I only ask because his tactical awareness seems to be getting worse ( see Parsonblues' Pompey match report) and his 2nd half team talks always make matters worse never improve them!

You are completely deluded if you think Bentley could have been prevented from leaving last summer and yet this argument is brought up time and time again by the Okey-cokeys (Ince out!, Ince out! ..... and shake it all about). United with all their power and kudos have only just managed to pull it off with Ronaldo. .....Rovers never stood a chance with Bentley.

and Villa still have Barry. Ince sold Bentley without ever assessing his squad first. Either someone told him, or he believed - that Bert was an adequate replacement. You may not like it, but that is the fact of the matter.

Then you must be an idiot. Wife, three kids mortgage, safe well paid job or mega salary for six months then out of work. If you think that's a daft decision I wouldn't like to hear about a sensible one.

Hate to say it but I think we missed out to Burnley on signing someone like Chris Eagles..I would like Incy to have gone for the fringe players and youngsters of the Top 4 clubs than take anyone from the lower divisions....

Watched Eagles on the TV a week or so back. No pace and lightweight.

No, you're the idiot because your probably still stuck with your safe job and your mortgage.

Better to have tried (as Ince is doing, albeit not very successfully at present) than not tried at all.

Have to disagree on this point Paul, if Ince goes at some point, he and his entourage will all get their contracts paid up in full won't they?

One slight difference Jim is that if it didn't work out for BRFCS Paul he wouldn't have had his contract paid up - he'd just be sacked and told to do one. BRFC Paul could work away tomorrow, contract paid up in full, for being a failure.

Yep that's right, except I paid off my mortgage, I'm employed, have no debt. Some idiot...... now remind me what your opinion would be of someone who took a job, he KNEW was beyond him just for the money and then expected the state to bail him / her out? Or in this case the football club to pay him off?

Ince on the other hand will get a pay out that would allow the average fan to stop work for life. Big difference Jim, very very big difference

And it depends how well failure fits on your CV. Some jobs it doesn't seem to matter but the reality for most is you'd have to take a salary cut to get back into employment. Aiming high is all well and good if there's an adequate safety net beneath you, but in today's economic climate that's often not there.

Hence why he took it win/win, well not quite but he knows he will get another lower league job given his time at Macc and MK. At the end of the day we took a chance it didn't work and its how we react now that matters most.

Latest from Sky Sports..

Here

I will swear Jim Iley said the same thing in the LET!

"Nobody can question the spirit of the team," he added. "They are willing to die for each other. My players' heads will never go down."

He's on HOW MUCH?
