gumboots Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 No, I think the criticism of Ince is entirely valid considering our current predicament. But hey, we all know you just want a pat on the back for being such a trooper. Depends on what you're criticising. Some has been bordering on unacceptable as in the references to his intelligence levels. Criticism of his tactics etc whilst i wouldn't do it myself because my tactical knowledge is minimal, is perfectly acceptable.

Amo Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Depends on what you're criticising. Some has been bordering on unacceptable as in the references to his intelligence levels. Criticism of his tactics etc whilst i wouldn't do it myself because my tactical knowledge is minimal, is perfectly acceptable. Some people think Ince hasn't got the smarts for this level of football, which I find entirely justified -- not just because of tactics, but for his transfer dealings, and his opinion of the club. He seems to often put his foot in it during interviews, which as an ambassador of the club, makes us look silly.
den Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 thats were your arguement falls down den,you mention HUGHES,who jumped ship, now if i was BENTARSE i would have thought whats good for the goose is good for david Totally irrelevant Waggy. Ince is strong enough to face that weak argument down isn't he?
waggy Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Totally irrelevant Waggy. Ince is strong enough to face that weak argument down isn't he? how can it be totally irrelvant when you use it for a reason bentarse should have stayed
den Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 i thought ince came over quite well on tv last night, looks like most off his detracctors thought so as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!so they bring up the BENTARSE situation.thought den was never going to post about him again BTW, you've got a bloomin' good memory when it serves a purpose. Pity you forgot to finish the list of positives from PI's reign so far. Think we got as far as "3. plays the kids". how can it be totally irrelvant when you use it for a reason bentarse should have stayed Because whatever happened with Hughes leaving the club, had no bearing on Ince's decision to sell Bentley. Anyway - finitto, finit, over.
Al Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I just cannot understand how anyone can argue that Ince had no choice but to sell Bentley. He was on a three year contract. That is not up for discussion. It is a fact. Therefore Ince could have kept him if he wanted. What is up for discussion is how the player would have reacted, but it doesn't take a genius to work out that it was not in his interests to sit and sulk. He'd have been forgotten in three years time. He would have had to play well or say bye bye to his career, not to mention his England place, which he appears to have screwed up anyway!
Iceman Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Is ince gone yet? Its nearly wednesdad, and my patience is nearly up.
Mr Creosote Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 The Bentley debate has rummbled on and on and I know some are heartilly sick of it. To them I appologise for perpetuating the topic but it is just plain daft to blame Ince for Bentley wanting out. He decided he was going before Ince took over. Players and their agents decide where they play these not smaller clubs and certainly not smaller club managers. Next you'll be saying he was under contract! There are plenty of legitimate reasons for castigating Ince, why not stick to those?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Paul Ince commenting on tomorrow night....'WE MUST EMBRACE THE OCCASSION' Does this prick think we are some small time outfit who plays Utd once in a blue moon? does he think we should be 'grateful' for this match and 'humble'. FFS PLEASE GO INCE.
The Prof. Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Paul Ince commenting on tomorrow night....'WE MUST EMBRACE THE OCCASSION' Does this prick think we are some small time outfit who plays UtD once in a blue moon? does he think we should be 'grateful' for this match and 'humble'. PLEASE GO INCE. That is just too much - We are a small but hugely proud club who take every opportunity to rough up and duff up our betters. We should not be turning up doffing our flat caps and feeling grateful to be sharing a pitch with our betters. Why do I not feel Ince's team talk will contain the immortal words. "Get amongst the overpaid, over rated scum and kick the living $£!^~ out of them. Win at all cost or don't come back in here.""
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Exactly mate, its bloody awful and embarrassing to listen to.....take a look at the official site.
Billy Castell Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Dear Sir/Madam, This e-mail has been sent to register my dispair at how the season has been going under our current manager, and how I believe, with a heavy heart that he is not up to the task of guiding us to safety, let alone European qualification. I was broadly in favour of the appointment of Mr. Ince as it was an intruiging appointment. He seemed to do very well at Macclesfield and Milton Keynes, and looked to have a bright future. It was a risky appointment but one that seemed to have the potential of paying off hansomely. I am all in favour of a Premiership club giving chances to managers who work their way up through the domestic leagues like Martin O'Neill. However, current results have been so dire I believe that Paul Ince and his coaching team are simply not up to the task of managing this club. Whilst we have had a great deal of change with Mark Hughes and many coaches leaving, those who have replaced them seem incapable of putting out a team that can fight and win, despite the squad being largely the same. A team that finished in the top 10 surely cannot be relegation fodder all of a sudden? Fan morale is at rock bottom as you may have noticed, and that can damage the atmosphere at any ground, not to mention ticket sales. To me it feels like we are slipping into seeing relegation as inevitable, and that the club, through a combination of bad management and coaching as well as an apparent lack of investment in the quality of playing staff is doomed. And all this at a time when Burnley are getting their act together and not employing some mini owning psychopath. To conclude this long winded plea, I ask the board to do the decent thing and relieve Mr. Ince of his present role ASAP, and to give more funds to the next manager as whatever compensation you will owe Paul Ince will be nothing when compared to the drop in revenue when we are relegated. Yours Sincerely, Billy Castell I got a response to this e-mail Dear Billy Thank you for your e-mail. We are naturally all worried about the situation. The spirit in the dressing room is good but we need to get results. TheBoard as always will act in what they consider to be the best interests of the club. Yours sincerely John Williams Chairman Not sure it came from Mr. Williams himself, unless he likes being called Lyndsey whilst at work but at least it got a response of some sort.
den Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Not sure it came from Mr. Williams himself, unless he likes being called Lyndsey whilst at work but at least it got a response of some sort. Lyndsey Talbot is his secretary, but the email will be JW's own words. He's never been one to hide from the fans.
Billy Castell Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Ah that explains it Den. I always thought John Williams was that sort of bloke. Fair play to him for a more personal response.
roverfanuk Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 We Must Embrace The Occasion Personally, i think we should be embracing every single match we get 3 points in the league from, but hey, im one of those optimistic guys that dislikes relegation 6-7 months after finishing in the top half of the table with virtually the same squad! If i have to see Paul Ince's stupid grin one more time during the crisis, im going to loose it! http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1474467,00.html INCE OUT!
Amo Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Oh, come on. We all know we're just lucky to be playing a team like Man Yoo. You know, teams like us, we can't, you know, compete with them because, you know, we don't 'av the financial clout. I mean, you just gotta look at their team sheet, you know, they're worlds away from what we've got down 'ere.
Billy Castell Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It may be the tiredness today, but I'd even be OK with Terry Vegetables taking over for the rest of the season. And you may know how much of an over rated tool I think he is.
The Prof. Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Personally, i think we should be embracing every single match we get 3 points in the league from, but hey, im one of those optimistic guys that dislikes relegation 6-7 months after finishing in the top half of the table with virtually the same squad! The official site is a disgrace - He should feel proud to go to Blyth Spartans as Blackburn Rovers manager and, and and...oh never mind!
Roost Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Blackburn boss Paul Ince has savaged the critics he feels are trying to tear the club apart. Just a few months into his tenure at Ewood Park, Ince is under fire after a wretched run of nine Premier League games without a win, with Rovers one place off the foot of the table. The only glimmer of light was a Carling Cup win at Sunderland last month to set up Wednesday's quarter-final with former club Manchester United at Old Trafford. Ince maintains he has the full support of chairman John Williams, and that the players are unified and determined to fight their way out of trouble. He also insists he is thick-skinned enough to withstand the flak flying his way, even if he believes much of it is venomous and uncalled for. "There are people trying to tear this club apart and it's bang out of order," Ince said. "People want us to fail, to not do well, to not succeed, and to not stay up. "But that gives me and my players the strength to prove people wrong, and now we have to start doing that. "We have to remain strong, and hopefully we'll keep it strong." Ince believes the situation needs to be put into perspective, adding: "When you aren't doing well there's going to be negativity. "But you have to realise we're only four points behind Manchester City, and they've spent £50million. "Tottenham and Newcastle are down there, as are Sunderland who have spent £80million, so let's get the facts right first." Ince, like any new manager trying to make his mark, is demanding time to build his own squad. It has become commonplace for managers to hold up Sir Alex Ferguson as a role model for what can be achieved if given such time. Ince's view is more credible than most as he was in his first season at United when Ferguson came close to being sacked "He is the greatest manager of all time and I learned a lot from him," Ince added. "But you go back to 1990 and he was probably 20 minutes away from the sack until Mark Robins scored that winner against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup. "It would have been easy to sack him if they had lost, but look at him now. He is the greatest manager we've ever had. "Everybody clamours for a British manager these days, but we all need time. "I think I saw something from Sparky (Mark Hughes) today saying he needs time. You do need time to build things. "That's what annoys me because people do try to tear up clubs and young managers so early in their careers, but you can't have it both ways." At least Ince feels blessed with a strong chairman at his side and strong players willing to stand up for one another. "After the defeat at Portsmouth at the weekend we all had a chat," Ince revealed. "A few of the lads stood up, people like Roque (Santa Cruz), and they all said how important it is to keep working, to keep spirits and morale up and not to listen to all the negativity. "The lads know it's going to be a battle, but they said 'Listen, we're all in it together, let's work hard, be positive and we can get through this situation we're in.' Hmmmmmm............................................
broadsword Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 If we actually won a few games then the negativity would stop. That's the best way to shut moaning beggars like me up. Shut the back door, score a few. suddenly everything's looking rosey again.
The Prof. Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Ince has a point. However Just looked at the last two news items on the official Rovers site and the photograph. Something has changed at the club. He's being made to look and sound like a defferential halfwit. I wonder if the club are getting ready to make a move - you'd think the press officer would protect him from himself from making these comments.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 "There are people trying to tear this club apart and it's bang out of order," Ince said. I'm sure you include yourself in that comment Ince? Get us the results we all crave and turn this dire situation around... then we're ALL happy and 'on side' He has obviously been told to go on the offensive by the PR people down at Ewood.
