martonrover Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Anyone offered would take it. We are not in a Derby position for God's sake. We are a couple of points off safety and with a half decent second half to the season we will finish around 10-12. We are a couple of points off safety as we stand. That may not be the case when the Board finally come to their senses.I wish I could share your optimism as I think it will be tough going for whoever takes over.

John Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Who the hell keeps voting to back Ince? Oh, add Darren Lewis to that as well.

JC4LAB Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Doubt BFS would want to come to us having embarassed him by turning him down in Summer...If Keano walks leaving Sunderland to be looking for someone ,we'll have some stiff competition looking for a good name..Think Ince should only go if be fails to make sensible buys in January and we actually do go down....
Jan Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Just emailed my mate about the Liverpool game, and mentioned Christians and lions. Her reply "ooh, I'd pay cold, hard cash to see P Ince v a rabid lion. And she's normally a very quiet lady!
Roaming Rover Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 It is depressing I backed Ince and thought he would do a good job. I thought if he could get through the first season he would push on from there. I was wrong. Whether this is down to his choice of backroom staff or what is open for debate but at the end of the day, it's down to him they are here. Ok he has had injuries and so moved Emerton and Warnock into midfield, which IMO all this has done is weaken our defence. So rather than have a decent defence and attack and poor / average midfield we have a shocking defence and midfield. our defence needs some pace so stick Emerton and Warnock at full back. Andre is not fast enough for full back and Olsson, although he's looked decent needs to be dropped for Warnock. To me a defence of Emerton Samba Andre Warnock looks 100 times better than what we have now. Liverpool anything we get from that is a bonus, but we can not afford to lose against Wigan, Stoke and Sunderland as we will be miles off the pace then. Even a couple of 0-0 draws would have done to show things are turning round but ever game we concede more goals and make more mistakes.
Bobby G Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Big Sam would come right now but if it was between Sunderland and us, then thats a whole different ball game, although theyve spent 80 million pounds on utter rubbish who arent worth even one-third of what they paid for.
Majiball Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 The reason I asked the question was because of the ruling about having them before you're allowed to be a Premier League manager. As long as he's signed up for the course it will be OK. The FA have a habit of being flexible over badges as long as you are signed up on the course it would appear to be enough for them. I know people employed at centres of excellence where you must be level 2 who are level 1 but signed up for the course and they are allowed to coach. The same rule will apply here. The FA have set precedence, they cannot escape it. having your badges shows your serious about it all, I don't disagree, but its far from a guarantee far from it. I think most would agree that even since its inception in was it 2000, nothing has changed content wise. The FA are so slow to take up new ideas its ridiculous, Christ they still advocate guided discovery, you'll find most top clubs now endorse something called situational learning IE game situations at all times the session teaches the point. Sessions should cover cognitive, perceptual and motor skills at all times. Small sided games and so on change the game to teach the point. Man utds whole academy/training is based on this thinking now, Arsenal as well, amongst others.
G Somerset Rover Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Big Sam would come right now but if it was between Sunderland and us, then thats a whole different ball game, although theyve spent 80 million pounds on utter rubbish who arent worth even one-third of what they paid for. I'm pretty sure Big Sam would favour Lancashire to the North East. Incidently I had a dream that Ince got sacked before the Liverpool game and got immediately replaced by Big Sam.
Bennisfromheaven Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Its funny how 6 months can change opinion, I was not overjoyed with Inces appointment but was optimistic, hoped for the best & a little excited! But it has become more & more apparent that Ince is not up to the job. Having not seen yesterdays game I am not able to comment but i did think, before the game, that it was there for the taking IF the manager gets his tactics right i.e. shackle their danger men & this was obviously going to be Tevez. I was completely against the appointment of Alardyce in the summer & if it were the summer again I would still be against him taking charge as we had options that would take us in a different direction. But i think he is probably the only manager available that can save us. I have left it until now to vote but i am sorry to say I am leaning to the 'SACK' side as i have not seen any encouraging signs from game to game. .....This may all change after a 5-0 win over liverpool but i somehow doubt it!
