A question for you, boys and girls. If, and when, Allardyce is actually appointed as your next gaffer will you drop "Fat" from his name? Just wondered, like.

I think I've only ever called him 'Big' Sam. Using the word 'Fat' is very derogatory, even if he was our neighbours' boss.

Nah coz 'Sam Allardyce's barmy army' doesn't quite have the same ring as 'Big Fat Sam's barmy army'.

All he is going on about is how the players are playing for the manager, how there is a good spirit at the club and how even the best manager in the world could not stop the goals we are conceding. Also thanked the supporters at the end of the interview.

Ince also referred to the 5-6 games after Liverpool which are 'critical' for us (as if to say forget about Liverpool, we will get nothing in that game). Get the impression from watching that interview (and reading in between the lines) he is pretty sure he will still be manager for those 5-6 games..........

He'll be lucky. His attitude towards games against the big four does my head in. Why don't we ask the FA if we can just pass the 3 points onto them instead of actually playing the game?

The likes of Hull, Fulham, Newcastle and Stoke are proof (as we have been in previous seasons) that if you go out with the right game plan you can frustrate and take points off the big boys.

As for his constant negligence towards our plight in his comments, well we've come to expect that in the past two months. Now saying that "not even the best manager in the world could stop the goals we are conceding" is just foolish. If he could actually prize his chum Winterburn away from North London to work with the lads for a few more days then that would be a start.

This is a very tough time for managers, whether Ince or any other manager under pressure. The arrival of the transfer window gives the Board a real problem. Give Ince some much needed transfer funds or leave those funds for another manager to use - the classic back or sack conundrum. Not so easy though because all our scouting has been focused on targets who may not fit a replacement managers choice.

However there are some similarities between Paul Ince taking over from Mark Hughes and Sammy Lee taking over from Sam Allardyce. Both have stressed that they wanted to play passing football and both have struggled to get their teams to carry that tactic out successfully. Now Ince had less of a transition given that we played a fair style under Hughes but he has been crippled with injuries, particularly in the midfield and a lack of creativity in the wide areas since Bentley left.

I think Keith Andrews will be ok but he is targeted in the same way that Mark Atkins was, he gets extra because of his previous links to Ince. Grella should be a reasonable player but we don't know until he gets a run of games. Villenueva? Really wonder whether we can afford to pay the fee demanded for him to turn his loan into permanency. Paul Robinson is as good a replacement for Brad as we could have expected and then there is Robbie Fowler. What can you say? He's cheap but surely Ince must have realised how the fans felt, if he didn't before the Carling Qtr Final he does now.

On the coaching front Archie Knox has brilliant credentials, Ray Mathias was a gamble and Nigel Winterburn smacks of an old pals deal (as does Fowler for that matter).

So Ince has had a spell of awful injuries but losing Bentley was always a probability, Brad was a surprise but we got a reasonable replacement.

A generous view would be that he has been unlucky, will be better when players are back and he has signed some more to add strength.

An alternative view is that he is a poorly qualified, inexperienced manager who is struggling to get things right.

What is beyond argument is the Rovers position in the league, an appalling defensive record and a team littered with players playing below their ability.

Napoleon said don't give me a good general, give me a lucky one. Paul Ince must have run over a herd of black cats.

Good luck John Williams, I'm worried enough to contemplate getting rid of our manager and I really don't like swapping managers with a high frequency. It really increases the risks. But we need to consider gambling and that needs to be now, otherwise let Ince have the funds and lets sweat out the rest of the season.

We're all getting very worried.

For those with short memories, Jack Walker was affectionately called 'Big Fat Jack' until we were promoted. It doesn't have to be derogatory.

Does anyone else hope/think Ince will finally be given the shove he needs if/when we get thrashed by Liverpool. Or will the chairman keep the faith regardless...?

The handy thing is the Liverpool game is at Ewood. I unfortunately wont be there. But can i trust the fans will make some relevent noise should the expected thrashing happens? ^_^

Partly true.I can remember Jack addressing the crowd and specifically asking not to be called Big Fat Jack. He sad it in a jokey manner but I think it stopped on that day.

I have a horrible feeling he is gonna stick with Ince until its too late. He needs to go NOW to give us time to appoint a new gaffer before the transfer window.

I too share the same feeling! A club like us cannot afford to get relegated in the current climate!

It would be absolutely disasterous!Everything possible should be done to ensure this doesn't happen!

Ie. replacing Ince, Giving a new man cash to spend in January!etc!

This is a very tough time for managers, ... etc...

Don't disagree with you at all.

A good manager is a lucky manager. Just take a look at Ferguson but he is a very good manager indeed as well as being a lucky b'stard. Ince is neither at the moment, I'm not saying he'll never be a good manager because who knows what he'll achieve in the future but right now we need both a good one and a lucky one.

I'd still love it if he suddenly turned this season around but I don't see it happening. I see us lurching closer to the drop in every game and Ince is losing players gradually until he'll have lost the entire dressing room. That's not far away. I say that because players reactions on the pitch are those of the defeated and unhappy. Dead man walking managerially speaking (if that's even a word... ;)).

Ince is getting a lot of stick, and rightly so. But i think John Williams is getting off a bit lightly.

If he has decided to stick with him, what could he possibly see on the pitch that is encouranging him that things are getting better. How can the man not see what my blind gran can...we are getting progressively worse!!

he's lost a lot of respect from me during Ince's 'reign', and my respect for the man is getting less everyday he doesnt have the bottle to do the right thing.

You cant blame Ince for not walking, JW is the one who needs to act!

The championship is extremely tough to get back out of, some clubs take years to recover & some don't seem to.

Look at Coventry, QPR, Ipswich, Notts Forest, Southampton, Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday etc, they were all average to good sides who go down & don't return immediately.

The board should act NOW to prevent the downfall of the club, it is going to be a tough season, everybody predicted the same three to fall straight back down again, but with Hull performing way above expectations it is unlikely now.

Tottenham were in trouble, so changed the manager, look at them now. Newcastle got rid of BFS when they were in the same boat last season & survived. We are in a rut & we need a change, if we don't, we could start february rooted to the bottom with Fowler & Sheringham up front!!

Rightyo, up until before the pompey game, anger was rightly directed towards Ince, however, post-United, any negative feelings or wishes for action need to be directed at John Williams.

I'll be there on Saturday as usual, taking an LFC mate as it goes, but I hope this game brings the end of Ince's reign. However I do like Ince, just he's a bit naive and the big-time came that bit too soon.

Whatever happens though post-Ince, we as the fans of our proud club, the most successful side outside a big-city in the country, the side with the instantly recognisable Blue 'n' White Halves, we the apparently harmless and insignificant "Northern horde of uncouth garb and strange oaths", desperately need to get behind the team more than any other set of supporters in the land. We can't let Jack's dream come within the slightest remote possibility of ending. I'm not from Blackburn but I'm proud to fly the flag as an ambassador and I'll shout n scream n kick every ball from me seat in the Riverside if it means we stay up. We must shun failure and defy logic and say to those who deem us an unfashionable, unwelcome outfit, NO NAY NEVER.

Last minute goals against Everton, 'Boro, and WBA? He's had his fair share of luck this season.

The man who took that lot up the road to the brink of Champion's League football and gave them four successive top-eight finishes?

Please tell me what 'ambition' is for us then, and who you put in charge to achieve that.

No idea what your going on about

Are you suggesting I think Sam is a bad manager? What you on about?

I think Sam is a good manager

Me incharge of what?

If your suggesting we are ambitious after this summer then good for you

Please make sure your reply makes sense this time
