RevidgeBlue Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 SOURNESS; no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no god help us sack John Williams if this is true Exactly right. Souness brought the club to the very brink of disaster last time round, falling out with numerous players, unfathomable tactics, and transfer dealings which were questionable (and that's a very diplomatic way of putting it). Why don't we bring in Craig Allardyce as his Director of Football as well while we're at it?. Don't worry about your 17m for Roque - Graeme can just give him away, Andy Cole style, for free! If he is even under consideration it shows the plot has been completely lost in the Boardroom. Souness shouldn't be let within a mile of our beloved Club again. If JW actually wants Souness back his position is untenable as well imo. If Souness did come back, I think that might be it for me after 38 years of watching the club.

thenodrog Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Allegedly the story is that Board decided to fire Ince on Thursday but decided to leave it until after the Liverpool match. They decided to sack him after the players gave JW chapter and verse after the United game leaving JW with zero choice. JW called Bolton to check on BFS's current thinking today- that has reached the dailies. He compounded it by ringing SUNDERLAND and asking if they are going for BFS and telling them that Souness/Tugay is Rovers' fall back if they take BFS. It is going to be a very long 24 hours. Do me a favour Kamy, I'm not having that at all. That would be incredibly stupid by JW. 1. Anybody with any gumption would contact Allardyce or his agent directly and not directly ask bloody Sunderland what they were up to. 2. No businessman worth his salt would inform a rival of some 'back up plan'. 3. What have Bolton got to do with all this? 4. There's a strong whiff of corruption / dodgy deals surrounding the Souness years imo with the deals around Grabbi, Baggio, Ferguson, Amoruso all a taj suspicious.
Shaddy Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 If Souness did come back, I think that might be it for me after 38 years of watching the club. Bye, bye. So long.
BRFC1995 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Right now i don't care too much who gets it we just need a change and a fresh start 15 games into a season because at the minute the status quo is taking us down and shipping more goals than i can remember. I wanted souness canned for the last 6 months of his tenure, yorke was a truly awful signing from him but he'll always be forgiven for signing Tugay. The last 6 months we had 2 strikers lazier than benni who did'nt get along with the manager and matty out the game so there may have been good reasons other than tactics why things were going south then, at the very least we were'nt shipping 3+goals week in and week out. On a kinnear type basis if we don't get sam and the likes of advocaat are'nt interested as i'm sure thier not, i'd have souey back in a heartbeat as i don't think any badges ince gets are going to stop him being clueless, play players in preferred positions and work formations around what you have rather than bodging line ups and bitching about a lack of cash that you knew you did'nt have when you took the job. As a side note Tugay as assisstant manager would just be special.
roverfanuk Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Bye, bye. So long. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Personally, i dont agree with all the 'going with the past', everyone apparently goes with. We need to remember how much money Souness wasted in Yorke, Davies, Fergy etc... We cant afford mistakes now... I would prefer BFS then Souness, but i would ultimately prefer someone else!
RevidgeBlue Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I'm kind of surprised at how unprofessional this process of dismissing Ince might turn out to be. JW phoning Bolton to see what Allardyce is thinking? Sunderland being asked if they are going to make a move for Allardyce? Speculation that Ince might not be even managing the Liverpool game tomorrow? The only thing I can think of is the players must have said something pretty shocking to JW after the United game and JW has decided to move fast on this one. I can see us getting some flack over this if it pans out like some in the media suggest. That's fair comment. Ince does his best to protect the players and create a siege mentality for the game later today asking us all to pull in the same direction - then stories break in the Press that the Board have actually decided to sack him and are sounding out replacements! You couldn't make it up. The Board have actually backed themselves into a corner whereby unless they completely quash the rumours and give Ince unqualified backing for the forseeable future, they look totally unprofessional.

He did pick up some bargains as well....friedal, Tugay, Berg to name three
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Everybody is entitled to their opinion. QFT I personally don't want Allardyce at the club and I am not sure Souness is a good choice. Thats my opinion, couldn't care less if anyone agrees or disagrees with it.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Bye, bye. So long. I wondered who'd be the first to say that. Bit rich coming from someone who lives on the other side of the world and has probably never been near Ewood Park though.
thenodrog Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 The Board have actually backed themselves into a corner whereby unless they completely quash the rumours and give Ince unqualified backing for the forseeable future, they look totally unprofessional. Just like most boards of directors in football.
47er Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Exactly right. Grabbi Graeme Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Ince is now on borrowed time and the vendetta thing only pushes him further out of the door, as for Rev although I don't know you I'm sure that your many years supporting the club you love, you wont turn your back on them and as for who is next I would take Souness on board as he came to us previously when we were at a low point and took us up, I would bring him back till end of season and see what happens from there. Who knows we might get Brad back
BRFC1995 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 pros of souey: Pedersen, emerton, neill, tugay, friedel, fergerson(technically great signing made up when we signed him can't hold it against the manager that he turned out to be homesick brat),Sticking 7 past west ham, finishing 6th and winning a cup. cons;numerous, grabbi, amo, yorke, gresko so-so;reid,cole(who was'nt excited when he signed), Considering our finances it'd be a good thing with souey on the basis that his best moments cost very little and his worst mistakes the kind of money we can only dream of now,
47er Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 If thats the way it turns out to be. I will be utterly disgusted. Bentley's money, Hughes money and the transfer budget we were meant to have minus Grella etc fee's... Where is it? Surely we should have around £12 million left? Under Sounesses' training regime I wonder if we would ever see Grella again (not to mention Dunny!). This old idea that someone can manage by the sheer force of personality is from the Ark. Hughes proved that.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Grrrrrrrrrrrrr......................... Cooled down a bit now. I wonder if there is any chance at all the story is a complete fabrication? Paul Agnew is certainly going to have to earn his corn putting a positive spin on all this lot.
Brownie Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Souness did waste money but not Davies. He did pick up some bargains as well....friedal, Tugay, Berg to name three Berg was Dalglish, you should have gone for Friedel Tugay and Neill ! On a sidenote, who would Souness' coach be ? Tugay can assistant manage but surely not coach.
TugaysMarlboro Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Don't want Souness purely for the training regime. Right now we could do with David Dunn, and with Souness at the helm that isn't going to happen.
Grabbi Graeme Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Saunders is now at Wrexham I dont think he will be back
BRFC1995 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Blackburn striker Robbie Fowler has turned down a move to League Two side Grimsby and will stay at Ewood Park to try to earn a permanent deal. (Daily Star) One person more deluded than ince at the club then, and at the same time keeps a bad smell hanging around inces tenure.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 cons;numerous, grabbi, amo, yorke, gresko There's a few more you can add to that, Matteo, De Pedro, Sukur, Baggio, Jordi letting Berg go, and paying to bring in Hulk Hogan to replace him, letting Cole go for nothing and bringing Dickov in to replace him. Emerton was hopeless whilst Souness was here, ditto MGP. He only made three really successful signings in his time here Friedel, Tugay and Neill and of course two of those he'd worked with previously.
Presty On Tour Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I can see the logic in bringing Souness back but don't they say never go back? A managers 2nd spell with a club always ends in disaster. Also, we or some might be getting ahead of ourselves here, Ince is still the official Rovers manager. If and when Ince goes, there are other potential candidates other than bfs and souey. Kevin Keegan Gordon Strachan Dick Advocat Alan Shearer King Kenny Roberto Martinez Avram Grant Juande Ramos Frank Rijkaard Roberto Mancini

roverfanuk Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Kevin Keegan - Will be emmediately Newcastle target when/if they find a new buyer Gordon Strachan - Would be very suprised if he was interested... I wish!? Contracted at club could be a problem... Dick Advocat - Again contracted at a very rich club. Does want to manage in the Premier League. I wish! Alan Shearer - No thanks! King Kenny - Never going to happen! Roberto Martinez - Would have been better if we had gone for him at the start of the season. No chance we would risk it now! Avram Grant - Would be my No.1 realistic choice at the moment. Free agent. Proven management material, and experienced... Juande Ramos - No thanks. His Spannish style of footie isnt suited to England, not to mention his high contractual demands i bet! Frank Rijkaard - If their was any chance we could get him i would be flabergasted. Would be excellent though! Free agent. Roberto Mancini - Would be a risk in my eyes. At Samp he suffered: 27 games played... 6 won, 16 lost and 5 drawn, that's worse then Ince...
Brownie Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Surely you don't think they'd even slightly be interested? Apart from Martinez, would any of that list be interested ? Wonder if Souey will be wine tasting with his pals up at Brockhall again in a few weeks ?! Just rang Lucas, he's coming back as club captain !

Probably not, but i'm sure you can see my point on the two I highlighted. Sadly we're a small, northern England mill town - not a thriving, bubbling European city....or London.
