rover6 Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I think Spurs will win because they have in-form wingers and we have dubious full-backs. I hope that I'm wrong.

MarkBRFC Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Nice one Mark - The Park it is. How close t't ground is it? 10 minutes walk, if that. It's a really good pub.
RoverRich Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I reckon we should adopt a shoot on sight policy if Gomes stays in goal We can have Pedersen, Carlos, Tugay etc firing them in and getting Santa and Derbs to chase them in ready for when Gomes gifts us one Sorry if I have missed this but where is Warnock? Is he suspended or injured? And anyone know if Emerton is back yet?
Plastic Head Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I reckon we should adopt a shoot on sight policy if Gomes stays in goal We can have Pedersen, Carlos, Tugay etc firing them in and getting Santa and Derbs to chase them in ready for when Gomes gifts us one Sorry if I have missed this but where is Warnock? Is he suspended or injured? And anyone know if Emerton is back yet? Problem is we can't hit the target when we do shoot. Warnock sussed and Emerton not yet ready. We will concede the customary 2 goals and manage only nil at the other end. Keep your phone on next week Sam......
Majiball Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 balls to performance lads remember JUST WIN ..I DONT CARE HOW JUST WIN To quote a footballing man "good performances breed good results". Most on here have not really mentioned the score with Sunderland (although it was not as expected) but rather the performance and for this game only a 90 minute one will do.
CrazyIvan Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I'll take a scabby one nil! There's a school of thought that winning breeds confidence as well.
tony gale's mic Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Lawro predicts a 2-0 Spurs win and for once I'm going with his prediction. Another vapid performance, punctuated by a brief 10 minute spell where we look like a football team and a couple of shots on goal which will make certain members of this board crow on about how it's a sign that things are going to get better.
G Somerset Rover Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Emerton out again. Bad news that Emo's out for this one, I was thinking he'd be back. Our decision to not sign a right midfielder is firmly coming back to bite us on the arse - looking at the squad Ince has for Sunday only Judge can naturally play there.
Majiball Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 So who's going to play RW derb's or Andrews??? Give the kid Judge a chance!!!!! However I have heard on the grape vine that Brown played a starring role there in training, could we be about to see Brown MKII, LOL.
T4E Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I'll take a scabby one nil! There's a school of thought that winning breeds confidence as well. Exactly - if ever quality of football was unimportant it's now. We have to get back to first season Hughes. Nasty, horrible, scrappy and picking up points. If Ince gets us a win against a resurgent Spurs on their turf, he'll have done very well, and will have earned his stay of execution, no matter how it happens.
John Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Spurs fans saying easy win for them. Would love to get at least a point out of this, but regardless of our form this could be a difficult game.
Hughesy Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Never forgiven spurs for beating us a couple of seasons ago when we battered them on their own pitch but they got alot of luck and won 3-2. Hope we can beat them. 1-0 or 2-1 Rovers, Robbo to be the star in goals.
Presty On Tour Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 I really cant see us getting anything out of this game. Robinson will want to show them what they have lost and could be a match winner. What most concerns me is our weakness in midfield due to injuries and suspension, Dunn, Grella, Reid, Warnock and Emerton all ruled out.
Billy Castell Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 3-0 to the Volvos, and no doubt Bentley will play a blinder.
RoverRich Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Shows what BBC know - they have Warnock in our squad for the spurs game with not a mention of him missing this one through suspension. I think it is about time Judge had his turn on the right wing. I know he is young and inexperienced but what else do we have. We found out Treacy was useful by giving him a chance so lets do the same for Judge. Other than him it will be out of Pedersen (Treacy on left) or Derbyshire (who it probably will be). Surely Andrews has to play through the middle so can't be dumped out there and Ince has realised that Carlos is not the best winger. I would go for: Robinson Ooijer Nelsen Samba Olsson Judge Andrews Tugay Pedersen Santa Cruz McCarthy/Villanueva On Rovers website says McCarthy could come back into contention but then he is not listed as in the squad so not sure for that final striking position, could be anyone but I would like to see Santa and McCarthy given a chance together. If our midfield doesn't do well then it could make Bentley's head even bigger seeing how we are struggling without him on the right for us. Ince should get the players up for this one to get back at the scumbag who treated us like dirt and moved on to a 'bigger club' who are one of only two teams below us. Robinson will want to have a stormer as well and I can see a few Spurs fans wanting him back instead of Gomes after his performance. Spurs may just think they are going to take this but I have a strange feeling that, at last, a win is coming our way. 2-1 Rovers scrape it. Please Rovers, it has been too long since we have experienced that winning feeling, come on!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Robinson Simpson--Samba--Nelsen--Warnock Judge/Haworth--Andrews--Tugay--Pedersen Santa--McCarthy Or more likely: Robinson Ooijer--Samba--Nelsen--Olsson Derbyshire--Andrews--Warnock--Pedersen Carlos Santa
rover6 Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Santa at the base of the Christmas tree and Robinson the glorious cherub balance on the top. I like the second formation, Antidingle !
1864roverite Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 If Rovers play that formation Spurs will tear through us. 4-4-2 is the way to beat Spurs
Amo Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Warnock's suspended, ADB. Looks like Emerton's out too, so I can't be bothered to call a team.
philipl Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Warnock's suspended, ADB. Looks like Emerton's out too, so I can't be bothered to call a team. Well call it a disorganised shambles then. (that's a joke crazy imy)
philipl Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 There are more bon mots in Harry Hotspur's questions for me on the Rovers game in his blog.
JAL Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 If Rovers play that formation Spurs will tear through us. 4-4-2 is the way to beat Spurs It simply has to be 4-4-2 ! But who plays wide right for me we need plenty of runners in the team to support the front two, that would possibly mean playing either MGP and Treacy on he right dont know who but it cant be Andrews or Derbyshire after their last performances. Would be very suprised if Simpson started as he provides little quality to the attack so could be interesting from Paul Ince, if Ince goes for the one upfront then i'll despair for me the only square pag playing in around hole for this game would be MGP or Treacy playing wide right surely if things arent going right they can swap roles during the course of the game. Jenas is the one in the middle who needs taking out, preferably early doors, if not then at least shackling but who does that job is upto Ince and his numpties to figure. Can Olson or whoever plays left back turn Bentley around and pin him back should be an interesting feature of the game that Rovers should be aiming to achieve. Now we will see what they are made of and what their collective resolve is this game should tells us alot. Come on Rovers have no fear the victory is there to be had!
Amo Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 There are more bon mots in Harry Hotspur's questions for me on the Rovers game in his blog. Nice one. Enjoyed reading it.
philipl Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 Harry Redknapp interview ahead of the Rovers game. Gomes plays for Spurs- that is going to be an interesting one to see if Ince sets up the Rovers to attack his weaknesses intelligently or if we simply rebuild the lads confidence for him.
Mc Love Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 I simply cant see Rovers winning this to be honest, which is fair bad.
