tony gale's mic Posted May 16, 2009 Author Posted May 16, 2009 Zola was that low?! They were facing a relegation battle when he arrived...

thenodrog Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Brown in 4th place takes a bit of digesting considering he obviously stopped managing Hull last November.
Backroom Tom Posted May 16, 2009 Backroom Posted May 16, 2009 How Hodgson is not higher up is mystifying. He's done superb imo
philipl Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 That table really is a load of cobblers. Normally one can work out how these things are calculated but this thing defies any semblace of logic. JFK in last place in an absolute joke- I suspect they forgot Kegan started the season as NUFC manager and spent all the money.
4ever&ever Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Thank you Sam for saving our club from relegation (and an uncertain furure) with a game to go.
tony gale's mic Posted May 16, 2009 Author Posted May 16, 2009 Well done Sam. Great work. Now find a side stupid enough to offer £15m+ for Roque and start rebuilding a new dynasty at Ewood.
roversmum Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Like i said in the relegation thread we were probably safe a game or two back but to make it mathematically impossible is a great relief. Now we 100% know we are safe the rebuilding can begin for next season. Well done Sam.
Backroom Tom Posted May 16, 2009 Backroom Posted May 16, 2009 Agreed, thank you Sam, job well done, you can enjoy Match of the Day and Eurovision in the team hotel tonight. Paul Ince, you got lucky, your blip has not been as costly as it could have been.
Stuart Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Can I be the first to say... Well done Sam and thanks for keeping us up! What's that? Waggy beat me to it?
LeChuck Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Can I be the first to say... Well done Sam and thanks for keeping us up! What's that? Waggy beat me to it? I think he said it last week.
Stonesrick Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Congratulations to Sam and all the boys, targeting the winnable games proved to be the intelligent choice.
LeChuck Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Apart from Stoke away did we fail to perform in any of the pivotal games? Hull, Fulham, Spurs, Wigan, Pompey...they all felt like huge 'must win' games at the time, and that's what we did. Great stuff, and shows there must be a lot of character in the team...although it needs the right manager to bring it out of them.
brfcshabba Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 If we appoint BFS and we stay up, I'll personally kiss everyones arse! I'll pass on the offer thanks

Parsonblue Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Not to be picky, but we failed to perform against Spurs. Not to be picky, but I seem to recall we got three points out of that game. It was a must win game and we won - end of story.
Backroom DE. Posted May 16, 2009 Backroom Posted May 16, 2009 Not to be picky, but we failed to perform against Spurs. What's that quote, good teams win even when they play badly? lighten up.
tony gale's mic Posted May 16, 2009 Author Posted May 16, 2009 Since I've heard from quite a few people that JW looks at this board, and that fan reaction was one of the main reasons he didn't appoint Allardyce, I thought it'd be interesting to have a poll of peoples' opinions. I was dead against him in the summer but looking back I was wrong. Given the time I know he will save us from relegation. We were all too quick to dismiss him and didn't see the similarities between him and Hughes. Gritty character, with a reputation for getting results despite unattractive football and a few inspired signings - Okocha, Anelka...even Kevin Davies. When he left Newcastle they were still relatively safely mid table but it was only after he left that they got well into the relegation dogfight. I only hope he's not been turned off by what happened last time, but I read an interview in The Times and he is chomping at the bit to get back into football. We'd be the perfect fit for him and I'm sure he knows it. Who's with me? :D This is where I do my best impression of theno - digging up an old post to prove a point..I'll try and avoid it in future.
gazsimm Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 well done Sam for keeping us up, you have worked wonders to get the club out of the relegation zone. Keep up the good work and i am looking forward to next season hopefully with a few new signings in the summer to help us move on.
bob fleming Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Not to be picky... Not to be picky? What the hell was it then Ed? Job done. Well done Sam.
iamarover Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Sam. The Man. The Ram. The Wham Bam not thanking the Ma am. Or so they sneer. The back handed compliments that seep through the pages of the press and the liberati of the message board don't do justice to the clearing of the Inceian Stables by our Hercules. What to do with a land locked Paraguayan who has a nose bleed as he ascends the first popular wave of his life? What possible route out of Hades is there when the best midfielder is a full back supported by a veteran older than Sam's vintage Malbec? What hope for an Army assembled as the poor bloody infantry, for a cost in total lower than the Newcastle bench, the Sunderland summer, the Boro centre forward whose £12m could have secured our entire back eight? What to do? What route? What hope? He has showed us Glory. My Friends.....the Orcs are at the Gates. Their Ding Ell madness is reaching beserkian proportions. Thank the Lord for Our Big Leader. Ugly needs Horror as its shield. In Ince we did Rust. In Sam we will shine again. AEL
Eddie Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 You're very odd. You also might want to do a slight fact check on the Santa Cruz part too.
