CrazyIvan Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 RSC and BennyM can't really be compared as they are totally different types of player. Both have exceptional talent and both have weaknesses too. RSC's abilities are probably better suited to our style of direct play. Sounds just like 'wot I said'. We agree on something else Gordon! The idea that Benni is better or worse than RSC is like comparing apples and pears. The only similarity is that they are footballers who play up front. Their games are different, the way they play is different and the way they are used is different. Statistically, Benni has had much the better career. Of that there is no doubt. If you asked me who would I rather have up front (on a day where both are fully fit and fired up) I'd choose RSC but then if you play to Benni's strengths he's a world-beater. RSC has more about his game than Benni overall but his career just doesn't compare AT THIS POINT. Give it 6 years and it might but that depends hugely on if he ever gets fit again! PM me for a teeny pic of Big Sam at the press conference

philipl Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Ten out of ten to Sam for how he handled yesterday's press conference. The man done good, brilliant in fact.
Hughesy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 so there better players than rsc Benni is yes - check his history compared to RSC I was talking overall - not just present - it seemed to spark an arguement - League Career Benni - Played 271 - Scored 110 - 2.46 games per goal Roque - Played 235 - Scored 67 - 3.5 games per goal Benni has been a much better player than RSC throughout his career. Anyone who argues otherwise is plain wrong. Amen
Gav Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Ten out of ten to Sam for how he handled yesterday's press conference. The man done good, brilliant in fact. Brilliant? Come on philipl how can you say he's doing brilliant from his press conferences? Just for the record I've been very impressed with his transfer dealings so far, not so much the players he's bought in as we can't judge them yet, but more about the way he's gone about things. The Salgado swoop has impressed me no end, from seemingly pulling the his name out of thin air, to laying down the law on the transfer money, that has been impressive, lets hop he can close the deal this weekend. As for the football side of things we’ll be in a better position to judge that tomorrow, but from what I’ve seen so far we’re going to struggle, time will tell.
thenodrog Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Brilliant? Come on philipl how can you say he's doing brilliant from his press conferences? Easy Gav. Try comparing him with this................ http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?s=&...st&p=629639

rovers1995 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 My brother-in-law refused to sing Sam Allardyce's name last season as he was unsure about him. Then in the friendly against Hibernian at Ewood, he suddenly started singing 'Big Sam's Blue and White Army.' RESULT. If Sam can win him over, he can win anyone over.

Lurid Coat Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 New first team coach. Sounds good . Steve kean to make mark Interesting, he sounds like a decent coach. Really liked this quote in the article: "Kean’s Rovers opportunity came in the wake of Karl Robinson’s somewhat bizarre decision to join Paul Ince at MK Dons and it is a chance the Scot is determined not to throw away. "

tcj_jones Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Not that this really has anything to do with what's been discussed, but the turnover of staff of late suddenly reminded me of one of Ray Matthias's post match comments towards the beginning of the Ince reign where he described Steven Warnock and Vince Grella as being 'the best CM partnership in the Premier League'. Thank God we are rid of that muppet!
waggy Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 does sam not realise we need a ball playing midfielder, wasting money in wages on a 33 yr old full back when the team is desperate for a midfielder
Billy Castell Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Know any going on a free then Waggy? Maybe you should enlighten us all.
waggy Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Know any going on a free then Waggy? Maybe you should enlighten us all. not my job to know, but i'm sure there will be plenty about, think scholes could be available soon
Billy Castell Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 How convenient. Free wheeling with the critcism and yet barren and vacant when offering alternative choices. And Scholes is about 40 years old, so if he was to sign no doubt your comments will be along the lines of "Why are we wasting money on a pensioner, lardarse is a plank etc." For the record I'd not pick Scholes as he isn't anywhere near the player he was.

thenodrog Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 not my job to know, but i'm sure there will be plenty about, think scholes could be available soon waggy.......... Before the accident last year when you obviously landed on your head, didn't you used to be the bloke that constantly advocated playing kids from the academy at every opportunity?
waggy Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 waggy.......... Before the accident last year when you obviously landed on your head, didn't you used to be the bloke that constantly advocated playing kids from the academy at every opportunity? sure was
Billy Castell Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 It depends on their physical condition of course. Scholes is slightly older, and is looking long in the tooth, whereas Salgardo has still have some petrol in the tank by the sounds of things. Anyway, I was not one of the ones cumming in their pants over this signing.
Kelbo Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Anyone heard anything about Sam getting ###### up at Turd Moor on Wednesday evening??? I am told he was wobbling all over the place!!
