As for being "completely detached from reality" - MICHAEL LAUDRUP WAS INTERVIEWED IN SUMMER 2008 AND WANTED THE JOB. How soon everyone forgets the facts to fit Sam Allardyce's prefered "small-time" attitude.

All the managers I mentioned (presuming they're still out of work) should at least be approached when Allardyce goes - WE ARE A PREMIER LEAGUE CLUB. (And I said nothing about Ancelotti and Ferguson, but why let the facts get in the way?)

were just a small TIME club

SMALL TIME

Sam needs to look were he was before we took him out of the dole queue

Sorry sam when Madrid come calling for you or any team in europe want to offer you employement then i wont mind one iota

small time go back to Limerick and take your brand of de-generate skyball with you.

For everyone who'd rather have points than style/passing. we are getting neither points nor style, if we'd have played football would we still have nil pois ?......

I've just watched and listened very closely to his interview and he DOES NOT say 'small time'. He says and I quote 'small town' but his pronunciation (being from the midlands) makes it sounds like 'tahn'. Will the vitriol about a complete misperception stop now? If you don't beleive me, play it for yourself a few times, turn your speakers up and LISTEN! Sam's interview.

Why does he now find himself out of work after getting the sack in Russia if he's that good??

michael laurdrups stats in getafe and spartac moscow are AWFUL!

You're right - Allardyce did great at Newcastle.

Goalkeepers have taken on part of the role in the modern game so can I say every team [plays with a sweeper] in a way.

That's not a "sweeper system".

Rubbish. I lived in Brum for 20 years and what he said was nothing like how 'town' is pronounced there. he said small-time

No, he definitely said town. Like Sam, I was born just outside Wolverhampton and grew up there before moving to Birmingham where I lived until I was 25 years old. The accent from Dudley and the black country in general is completely different from Birmingham. As I said, WATCH his lips and LISTEN to him again.

This is an excellent point.

Whenever Souness and Hughes encountered financial restrictions they were quick to acknowledge them while at the same time pointing out that this was a club that is "run in the right way", and that the togetherness of everyone employed at Blackburn Rovers would pull us through. Possibly even to a domestic trophy or UEFA Cup qualification.

Contrast that with Allardyce.

Defeatism in the extreme. Just moaning, whinging, self-pity and - as Eddie rightly points out - "playing the victim". It's basic football management to play hardball over transfers like Stephen Warnock's (look up "Moyes, David"), but rather than that he would prefer to just capitulate to the demands of that HUGE club Aston Villa and basically say "you can have him". This literally days after he gets the Salgado signing he cared so deeply about - despite the fact that right-back is nowhere near a priority position for the club.

Pathetic. Don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out you fat clown.

This is the same Big Sam who got us £18 million on a crocked RSC, the stance was the same then, he can go but we will get the money we want for him, lets wait and see what we get for him.

When has Sam not acknowledged the job that JW does, I have heard him praise him on numerous occasions but yes in ONE interview he doesnt so you pounce!

Apart from the downright stupid suggestions that you have made so far, which manager would be willing to work under the limitations that now exist at Rovers and can do a better job?

Agreed he states town not time, I have numerous friends from the black country and the accent has confused people.

Time.

Ok, then 1.36 into this interview Sam says 'time', have a listen here... and compare it to where he says 'town' at 1.10 in the interview above and also listen to how he says 'out' at 1.34. Out sounds like 'aaht'... I should know, I used to speak with an accent something similar to Sam but without the northern influence.

I reiterate, he says 'town' not 'time'.

After listening to the interview what upsets Sam is the timing of the approach for Warnock Just before the Sunderland game, Maybe he thought all his signings have been made Nelson and Di Santo get injured and he has to make more additions than he wants / can.

Kalinic ST 6.25m, Givet versatile defender 3.25, a ball playing CM .5m, although it is debatable which budget Givet's money came from.

Time to judge Sam and the board is next Tuesday when the window shuts.

Time to judge Sam is at the end of the season. Some people on here are as bad as Newcastle fans. It will take a long time to put right the mess that Ince left us in. We do not have the financial clout to ring the changes so we must give it time. If Sam was to be judged a failure at the end of the transfer window then what then?

2 games into the season is far to early to judge Sam, so is the end of the month. Lets get real, it is impossible to all of a sudden become a top 7 or 8 team with what Sam has got to work with. We've a decent squad with a few new faces, let them gel and give us a couple of good runs and this season can be a decent one. For gods sake don't start getting on the managers back please.

My point was that we've only just started. Can't we at least get our games played to double figures before the hue and cry ? :)

I'm as against waiting 10 games this season and I was under Ince last year.

Act swiftly, act early. While there's still time.

I hope Sam succeeds, but if we are in a mess, there is only one man to lead us to glory....

I'm sorry but this is getting ridiculous. Sutton is nowhere near the black country. I refer you to my previous post where you can LISTEN to Sam say time and then go and listen to him say town in the recent interview.

Don't base your arguments on your misperception of something Sam said when it plainly is incorrect. Sam was a yam yam, so was I. Sam still has a yam yam accent mixed with a northern accent which comes out regularly.

As a small lesson in yam yam speak

Town sounds like 'tahn'

Out sounds like 'aaht'

Time sounds like 'toim'

Oim gewin up tahn = I'm going up (sic) town.
