tcj_jones Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I don't think it's been quoted anywhere has it? It was all over Sky Sports News last night with big old headlines along the line of 'Sam Allardyce labels Blackburn Rovers "small time club"'.

booth Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Nicko also agree's he said time, he said it was regrettable. Nicko also said that Burnley were 'superb' in his write up about them at the weekend which suggests he saw a different game to the one I did. Remember that although he's a nice chap for coming on here and feeding us little nuggets, he is a journalist and so sometimes suffers from journalitis. But I can't tell whether he says a Small Town or Small Time. It actually sounds like he mispronounces "town" and it sounds like "time". Small Tine club? He definitely doesn't say time because if you look at his lips he doesn't mouth an 'm', his lips don't purse at the end of the word. His teeth are together which suggests that he's saying an 'n'. I think he mispronounces it myself.

When was this? It's disappeared pretty rapidly then which would suggest someone has spoken to them... T4E Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I do apologise for being "obtuse", could you please clarify "acting swiftly" then? We need to sign some midfield reinforcement. We've needed to all Summer. We're now a week from the close of the window and we haven't done anything about it. We cannot wait until January.

Why would you watch dingles if you didn't have to ?....... the mind boggles!
tcj_jones Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 When was this? It's disappeared pretty rapidly then which would suggest someone has spoken to them... They were running the story all last night. I hope you're right though. Unfortunately, with the amount of noise my laptop makes and with the rubbish speakers it has, I can't hear Allardyce clearly enough to be certain what he says. My first impression last night was that he said 'small TIME club', reinforced by all the headlines and the presenters quoting it as such.
CrazyIvan Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 has he ever called us ROVERS Yes, he constantly calls us Blackburn Rovers or more often 'we'.
waggy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, he constantly calls us Blackburn Rovers or more often 'we'. GO FOR A HEARING TEST SON,WE ARE BLACKBURN

My first impression last night was that he said 'small TIME club', reinforced by all the headlines and the presenters quoting it as such. I promise you, he said 'town'. I'd stake my life on it. The yam yam accent is confusing as hell for those who haven't heard it. Beleive me, I went from being a yam yam at age 12 to the USA and nobody could understand a word I said for the first month or so until I spoke more clearly. I also don't think Sam would be stupid enough to say that even if he thought it. GO FOR A HEARING TEST SON,WE ARE BLACKBURN Waggy, you need to click on some of his interviews and listen then!
AggyBlue Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 It actually sounds like he mispronounces "town" and it sounds like "time". Freudian slip perhaps.
T4E Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Waggy, you need to click on some of his interviews and listen then! Give it up mate. Having read the logic in your posts and watched again, it's pretty obvious that you're right and he said "town". The only people still arguing the point are the ones that have an agenda. You wont win.
booth Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Why would you watch dingles if you didn't have to ?....... the mind boggles! Erm... 1) Because I can. 2) Curiosity. 3) I have quite a few dingle supporting colleagues so it's good to know if they're talking bullsh** or not as a few of them are always on the wind-up. 4) Ammunition (refer back to 3)

Big Fat Sam Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 We need to sign some midfield reinforcement. We've needed to all Summer. We're now a week from the close of the window and we haven't done anything about it. We cannot wait until January. We've needed it since Savage went. My worry is this we are getting a lot of injuries already even in pre-season they where taking knocks and the such. But yet we are suppossed to rely on three players who are notoriously always injured. We where told this was the plan to introduce ways of reducing injuries, so why are we still getting them left right and center?? We have to resolve the injury problems at our club, quickly.

Big Fat Sam Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Cheers, I can't be arsed arguing with either of them now. I think I'll just ignore them both.... I've watched it a few times now and if I'm being honest it sounds more like tyne then either town or time.
AggyBlue Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I've watched it a few times now and if I'm being honest it sounds more like tyne then either town or time. He changed his mind halfway through the word. Let's move on eh
