Sandiway Blue Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 My point was that we've only just started. Can't we at least get our games played to double figures before the hue and cry ? Well Rovers is a `Labour of Love` Sorry couldn`t resist...

thenodrog Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 11. The I Know All Group “If I have not said it it’s wrong –plain and simple (Gord that’s your group) Thanks. But If I were really like that then surely I'd have chosen 'The Prof' as my board name.
thenodrog Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 has he ever called us ROVERS Shouldn't that statement from you now read "has he ever called them ROVERS
thenodrog Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Unfortunately it's undeniable that since the Walker era both terms 'small town' and 'small time' apply to our club. And as that is the case (and very unfortunately for the anti's)Sam Allardyce is miles ahead as the best and most qualified manager for us. He's managed one 10 miles down the road very successfully for years. End of silly and petty arguments please.
T4E Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 You want locking up for that ! This is such a negative thread, here's the best view on the planet Beyonce I think It is without a doubt. Lovely job
spencey7 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 If you sign Chimbonda, Givet, N'Zonzi, Kalinic and possibly Taylor in the window - plus Hoilett's full-time wages and Di Santo's loan - it is a fair amount of dough. And also a fair amount of progress. "progress; noun. 1. Movement, as toward a goal; advance. 2. Development or growth" I don't think anyone can describe this window as progress. We're a weaker team than we were at the end of last season, with Roque and Warnock gone (our Players of the Year for the past two seasons) and cheap, unproven replacements for both. If anyone can even attempt to explain Allardyce's transfer policy I would love to hear it. So much of what has gone on this summer makes absolutely no sense: - Rothen and Capoue both brought over here - two left-midfield players (which we already have plenty of) - neither are signed. - Vieri and Ellington brought in to "hopefully" become our 5th striker, both sent packing - But we haven't looked at any other forwards. - A completely random and pointless signing in Van Heerden. I can only assume this boy was brought in to bring down the average height of the squad. - I don't doubt that Salgado has quality, but we don't need another right-back. Which IS where Allardyce would have played him (pre-Warnock departure at least), he said so himself. - Selling Gallagher - literally the only player in the entire squad who could pick a pass. - At no stage (as far as I can remember) have we even been linked with a centre-midfielder, the current dearth of which is without question the main problem in our side. This is something Allardyce should have been working on since January. Couple this with the clearly inadequte pre-season (no excuse for picking up so many injuries this early), the fact he doesn't know his best team and aimless long-ball football? The man has no idea what he's doing.
67splitscreen Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Maybe with Sam's style, hitting the strikers earlier, he wont need to get into the corners and tie himself in knots. There's less chance of putting out for a goal kick from deeper.
ebenrocks Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Ladies and Gentlement, i give you, the biggest load of s**** in the wooooorld! I don't think anyone can describe this window as progress. We're a weaker team than we were at the end of last season, with Roque and Warnock gone (our Players of the Year for the past two seasons) and cheap, unproven replacements for both. I'll start here. Firstly, Roque didnt play for ages at the end of last season, and he's still out now for man city, we got £17.5m for him which has gone on players and suring up the club. Yes he was a good player, but selling a VERY injury prone 28 year old for £17.5 million is bloody genius. Secondly, we brought in Givet as a warnock replacement (and moved warnock up to midfield). Givet is a better defender than Warnock. If anyone can even attempt to explain Allardyce's transfer policy I would love to hear it. So much of what has gone on this summer makes absolutely no sense: - Rothen and Capoue both brought over here - two left-midfield players (which we already have plenty of) - neither are signed. well if you think we already have enough left mid players then why do you care that neither of them signed? we dont have enough left mid players. We have pedersen who tends to spend 6 to 8 months of a season being AWFUL. who else do we have who can play there? maybe a couple of players who can do a job but certainly not plenty - Vieri and Ellington brought in to "hopefully" become our 5th striker, both sent packing - But we haven't looked at any other forwards. Kalinic and Hoillet? both brought/given first team contracts after looking at ellington and vieri - A completely random and pointless signing in Van Heerden. I can only assume this boy was brought in to bring down the average height of the squad. have you had a chance to see Van Heerden play properly? didnt think so. At gillingham he didnt look terrible, and anyone who can help out in midfield at the moment is a bonus - I don't doubt that Salgado has quality, but we don't need another right-back. Which IS where Allardyce would have played him (pre-Warnock departure at least), he said so himself.Sam has also said that he will do wonders for the moral and ambition of the other players, and can also do a good job at right back. the only true right back we have in at the moment is Jacobsen, all the others such as emerton and zurab can just fill in there. Every position should have competition, and cover and i'd far rather we had a player like Salgado in as cover than let Zurab take over again (im sure we all remember Man City last season) - Selling Gallagher - literally the only player in the entire squad who could pick a pass.Oh yeah, coz he made such a wonderful impression on our squad. Gallagher would never have been quality enough to make regular first team appearences and i for one and glad that he has the chance to play week in week out in a league he's more suited to. Yes he could pick out a pass, but the vast majority of the rest of his game made him a liabillity - At no stage (as far as I can remember) have we even been linked with a centre-midfielder, the current dearth of which is without question the main problem in our side. This is something Allardyce should have been working on since January.N'zonzi has been brought in, and looks like real talent, Van Heerden is as yet unproven but still is useful as backup in case of yet more injuries. Its looking likely that Dunn will be back soon (and can hopefully stay injury free), Salgado can play there. Its not fantastic but its also not as terrible as everyone is making out. Yes we need a playmaker, but we've done pretty well on the money we have Couple this with the clearly inadequte pre-season (no excuse for picking up so many injuries this early), the fact he doesn't know his best team and aimless long-ball football? 1.who cares about pre-season? when has it ever made a difference to anything? 2. What team would you pick then mate? he puts out the best team he has avaliable due to injuries, plus, sam knows how the lads have been training and can judge their fitness and abillity far better than any of us can. 3. you want us to go back to playing the type of football Ince had us playing? you're mad. Like it or not we're not arsenal and our players dont have the abillity to be skilling it up all over the shop. Our players are tall and the long ball approach really troubles other sides defences The man has no idea what he's doing. you're an idiot Well. im glad we've cleared that one up.
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 "progress; noun. 1. Movement, as toward a goal; advance. 2. We're a weaker team than we were at the end of last season, with Roque and Warnock gone (our Players of the Year for the past two seasons) and cheap, unproven replacements for both. Warnock will be a loss but Roque won't, a player who is constantly injured, he hasnt even played for City yet. If anyone can even attempt to explain Allardyce's transfer policy I would love to hear it. So much of what has gone on this summer makes absolutely no sense: Rothen and Capoue both brought over here - two left-midfield players (which we already have plenty of) - neither are signed. They wern't good enough , do you suggest we sign players on a wim. - Vieri and Ellington brought in to "hopefully" become our 5th striker, both sent packing - But we haven't looked at any other forwards. See Above - A completely random and pointless signing in Van Heerden. I can only assume this boy was brought in to bring down the average height of the squad. Not seem him play yet so can't comment I don't doubt that Salgado has quality, but we don't need another right-back. Which IS where Allardyce would have played him (pre-Warnock departure at least), he said so himself. Well Warnock is going so that could change - Selling Gallagher - literally the only player in the entire squad who could pick a pass. A player who has been sent out on loan by the 3 previous managers, says a lot for his ability at this level. - At no stage (as far as I can remember) have we even been linked with a centre-midfielder, the current dearth of which is without question the main problem in our side. This is something Allardyce should have been working on since January. We have plenty of players who can play in that position but signing another one doesn't guarantee that they are going to stay as fit as the ones we have now, we don't have the resources to carry the amount of midfielders that Spurs have. Couple this with the clearly inadequte pre-season (no excuse for picking up so many injuries this early), the fact he doesn't know his best team and aimless long-ball football? It's a physical game you pick up injuries at any time The man has no idea what he's doing. No of course he doesn't, I mean he pulled us out of a mess and is now putting together a team on a budget, let's not judge after a couple of legue games although you have seemed to made your mind up already.

Big Fat Sam Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 God damm darling get down the gym and get rid of that giant ass.
modes98 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 "progress; noun. 1. Movement, as toward a goal; advance. 2. Couple this with the clearly inadequte pre-season (no excuse for picking up so many injuries this early), the fact he doesn't know his best team and aimless long-ball football? Goal: Finish higher than last season Development/Growth: A younger squad with plenty of potential mixed in with experience Gallagher: Never going to be up to the standard needed. 3 managers have all thought the same thing now. Long Ball Football: Where? We are passing it around quite well out to the wings and getting crosses in. Liverpool and Man Utd play much more "long ball football" than us.
thenodrog Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Selling Gallagher - literally the only player in the entire squad who could pick a pass. Indeed his pass to Jon Stead foir the goal v Man Utd was sublime............. but rem it was about 4 years ago and he's done sweet FA since! Your arguments are becoming more and more ridiculous. Don't stop though .... rem laughter is supposed to be the best medicine.
