Unless it's cos a big time club comes in for him then such a scenario will see us relegated.

Not necessarily because if Allardyce has bought well a semi competent manager should be able to keep us up.

It can only be down to his love of the game that keeps him here. In his position I would have told them to stuff it by now.

I too wouldn't have blamed Sam had he walked but I think in the real world on 40k p.w. I would be tempted to sit it out for a month or two and wait for the next available opportunity to arise.

Not sure our performances last season or this have done anything to enhance Sam's CV to the outside world tbh.

what has anyone seen so far to think that allardyce wont be here come may?

he dragged us out of the gutter last season and because he hasn't got of to a flyer this season suddenly he is looking at the door?!

sometimes i wonder what goes through some fans heads!? morons!

The news on Kalinic and Di Santo broke on August 4th (although we'd actually been aware of both for quite a while).

The news of Ellington's trial broke on August 6th.

Is it at all possible that Sam wanted another striker in the squad on the cheap? Given our lack of options against West Ham in that position, it would've been nice to have another striker we could have used. Clearly Sam identified that area of the team as one that he wanted to be strengthened. Vieri was someone that could've brought experience to the team, which would've been beneficial. Ellington was Roberts' striking partner back when he was scoring goals more than once every 5 games.

Why make a big fuss over a trial?

People have been clamouring for midfielders, but in our last game there was no evidence that we were lacking in that area, but we were lacking in attack instead.

I'm sorry spencey, but you have absolutely zero credibility in criticising Sam. I don't believe you've ever even played a 90 minute game of football, so making what you would refer to as "educated" assumptions and opinions is pretty bonkers. You don't know better than someone who had played professionally for a career and has managed for years.

You've shown me no conclusive evidence that Sam is doing a bad job for us. All the evidence you've shown is subjective or completely trivial like taking Vieri and Ellington on trial.

:lol::lol::lol:

Please give me your definition of good quality football and an example of a team you would like us to see play more like.

I'd have thought taking over a club losing 8 on the run and 6 points adrift from safety and avoiding relegation with three to go must be a plus on the CV.

One solace I have is that if Sam is wanting out of Rovers, he has to project us into the top half of the table immediately and get a good Cup run if he wants clubs to look at him.

Agree with the sensible posters reference BS, he will be here for a while IMHO, and quite rightly so, he kept us up and has started his rebuild of the squad.

A few facts that should be considered?

Aren't we enjoying our longest run in the top flight since the 1930's at the moment?

Are we saddled with £100's of Millions of debt?

Are our Season tickets really expensive, even for the seats where the players look like match stick men?

Are we a massive big city club with no other "Distractions" in the local area?

Come on gents, get a grip, we have to cut the suit we can afford and wear it for longer, life in a blue and white boob tube I'm afraid.

We'll be alright, we always are and at the moment we need stability and we need BS, he's very passionate about his job and therefore our club and therefore us, give him some time FFS.

One thing I'm not too keen on with Allardyce is this 'categorising of games eg must win, don't lose, forget it. Given our abject performances against the top 4, what happens if we lose a couple of the 'must wins' etc' and have to pick up points against the big boys? IMO every game should be viewed as must win/don't lose otherwise it can't send out a great message to the players.

People go on about that but when he was at Bolton I remember him frequently beating Arsenal, and often getting results/victories against United and Liverpool. I suspect the entire approach is a mental thing aimed at relaxing his players, you don't go to Old Trafford and win without a strict and disiplined game plan, as well as a good mental attitude.

These results happened too often at Bolton to be fluke.

This is what I find surprising amongst many of the posters on here.

Mark Hughes managed Rovers from Sept 2004 to June 2008. During that time we played West Ham three times at home. Lost in 2007/2008, lost in 2006/2007 and have to go back to 2005/2006 to the last time we beat them at Ewood. I don't recall the manager being told he'd lost the plot so unequivocally by the fans in 2007/2008, or 2006/2007. Or is my memory wrong?

West Ham are not some newly promoted cr*p team. They have spent massive amounts of money over the last 3 seasons - amounts we would be delighted with on here. Okay, they are a selling club now but they are not Portsmouth.

But without a doubt West Ham are a team that we should be beating at home, if we're to stand any chance of staying clear of relegation this season.

I'd amend that slightly to "Without doubt West Ham are a team we should be going all out to try to beat at home if we're to stand any chance of staying clear of relegation this season."

An interesting last week for Allardyce.

Begins by publicly running down the club with his small time/town jibe and sulking like a toddler who can't have a lollipop.

Follows up by taking credit for filling our coffers despite not having signed any of the players sold, JW doing the negotiating on fees and they all wanted to leave anyway!

Plays the most negative I have ever seen a Rovers team set up

We sit in the bottom 3

And finishes off by telling the fans that he knows best.

Marvelous stuff!

Sam's standing in my mind is sinking like a stone.

I can't believe people didn't see this coming. I took a punt (terrible judgement) on Ince because I knew what Allardyce offered. It's not pretty (on so many levels).

This is why people wanted Ince to succeed, because there was a chance that it could be brilliant.

I believe there are certain fans here with a prejudice towards Big Sam, either for his Bolton ties or his methodical approach to the game. Do I think Big Sam is perfect? Nope. Do I think he should have done everything to sign a decent playmaker? Yup. But I still have faith in him at the helm and believe we'll have a decent season - compared to last year's calamity, at least.

True, as you would expect with the results we have had.

But a few wins and he will be back up there with them. Next five games are crucial, none more so than Burnley. If we only pick up a couple of points and we lose to Burnley then the supporters will fall out with him. He won't be sacked till Christmas, but it will be epically difficult for him to recover. I think Sam will produce results though starting at Wolves. He knows he has to, we have played reasonably well every game, being largely the better team each time if not that ambitious. He will also have a virtually full squad to chose from.

It comes down to taking our chances.

I'm behind Sam, I think he has been mislead by the board over the sumer and was under the impression he would have a bit more to spend.

The transfer window is over now. Emerton, Dunn and Salgado are close to fitness, Hoilett is coming through. It's so important Sam now gets back to being positive and finds a settled side.

Some of the things been said about him at the moment are way over the top. Give him time and give the young players in the squad a chance...

Doesn't matter. We could win every game up to and including the dingles and there are people on here who will still be calling for his head. You can't have a rational debate with that

Who has called for Sam's head?
