spencey7 Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Hello ....... Do I detect an attempted Ince cover up story emerging from the numpty corner?

joey_big_nose Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I believe the 4-2-3-1 formation using the following players (obviously allowing for fitness) Salgado - Givet - Nelsen - Chimbonda -----------Emerton -- Nzonzi ---------------- Hoilett -------Dunn -------Van Heerden --------------Kalinic----------------------- Subs: Samba, Mccarthy, Di Santo, Grella, Diouf, Brown, Pedersen This would provide the pace on the wings to break, creativity with Dunn and 2 athletic players in Nzonzi and Emerton also able to drive through the middle. Think perhaps Di Santo would be the best option for the forward role but seeing as Chelsea can't sign anyone, he's likely to bugger off in Jan - so best play our boy. Whilst the wide boys are perhaps lacking a little physically, having Chimbonda and Salgado behind makes up for that in my opinion. I would go for that, but Elrio is completely untested and doesn't really look like a left winger at all. He drifts all over the place. I hope he does come through as a player though because he is the only person we have got who could play the Dunn position if he gets injured. Anyhow, I'd play Diouf on the left and give Olsson a shot as a sub later in games. Also Grella should start ahead of NZonzi imo. He will circulate the ball round the team much better.
Blueandwhitemike Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Unbelievable how far some people go. The jury shouldn't even be sitting, never ming being out. The WHam game was a bit rubbish but I have seen plenty worse. Last season he kept us up, with games to spare, despite a bad injury list, and if we'd beaten WBA we'd have finished 12th or 13th. This season we have played 3 league games, the first 2 of which we lost, unluckily, whilst playing quite attacking, quite entertaining football. WHam was nowhere near as good to watch but even that we would have won if we had got the penalty that should have been given. I'm no big Allardyce fan, but he is a good manager with a proven track record ( whatever S7 tries to say ) and respect throughout the game. IMO there is no way we will get relegated. We have a top keeper, a very strong defence with lots of options, a workmanlike midfield with lots of running, and if DD stays fit a little bit of quality. Upfront we have decent players mixed with unknown quantities. Overall a decent side. Criticisms are good if they are constructive (boos and stupid chants aren't). Cheer up 35 games left in the league and 2 cups to try for yet.
47er Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 What are you talking about? Kalinic was effectively here, as was Di Santo, prior to Ellington's trial. Allardyce was looking at a 5th striker as he thought we needed one, but ultimately did nothing. Just like the left-midfielders. And the centre-midfielders. (Changing his mind and trying to oust Andrews at the last minute was never, ever going to work. We had an opportunity to get rid of him for good money (and to simultaneously weaken a league rival) and we missed it. Allardyce is to blame.) The fact it's taken 4 days for you to think up a response tells you everything about your post. I'd sack him in a heartbeat. And I'd pay an exorbitant amount of money to be the one to deliver the good news. We need rid of him immediately, before any more of his anti-football poison infects our club. It'll take 5-10 years to recover from Allardyce, if we ever can. Just wondering how long it would have taken to recover from Ince on that basis? A hundred years? A thousand? Never?
T4E Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Said Salgado's rentboy Is that seriously the best you can do? Mocking a Rovers fan for supporting a Rovers player? You got me Hiccup, guilty as charged.
American Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Cheer up 35 games left in the league and 2 cups to try for yet. I hope last year was an aberration because of the league position and he actually tries for the cups this year.
SouthAussieRover Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Is that seriously the best you can do? Mocking a Rovers fan for supporting a Rovers player? You got me Hiccup, guilty as charged. No I could do so much better but you aren't worth the effort. Plus I suspect you lack the intellect to decipher a better worded put down. Funny you should mention mocking though. Waggy himself has had to put up with a fair bit of mocking for his attacks on Sam Allardyce. Some posters including myself get rather tired reading these attacks by and towards Waggy.Others then suugest that Waggy be put on ignore but that is futile as others continue to quote. Perhaps you should set aside your longstanding dislike of me and the need to attack my posts with illfounded and juvenile zest and divert your attentions elsewhere. Step out of TNR's shadow and be your own man and go after those mocking Sam Allardyce or Waggy. Be a bit like the man you think Salgado is in your signature. For me Allardyce has my full support for the present time.

As for being in Gordy's shadow.............one can only dream
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Can't help but think that tomorrow is going to be a pivotal game for Mr Allardyce. A win and things should start picking up. A negative formation - bore draw/defeat and the knives will sharpen.

A negative formation - bore draw/defeat and the knives will sharpen. what knives ?.... i'd like to think sir sam has a bit more time before we mention knife sharpening look at the the ince fiasco who saved our club from certain relegation people should be less fickle and trust and support our great manager, were lucky to have him and we must always rememeber that.

Don't get me wrong - think Allardyce is probably the best bloke for the job, but like many had reservations about the football we would produce. Most fans will stomach poor football for a while - providing the results are there. If we draw lose/tomorrow then we have tricky games at Everton/Arsenal away + Villa at home, it's not inconceivable that we could be sat on 1/2 points after 7 games (remember Spurs last year). If that is the case the Burnley game will define his future at the club. Hopefully however, we will be basking in 3 points tomorrow, with much more positive feelings towards the next raft of matches.

Exactly.....some people seem to enjoy laying into him - who know who you are Best man for the/our job, simple, of course IMO.
thenodrog Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 The biter bit for the members of the AA (anti allardyce) group is that even if we are relegated we still probably have the best man for the job. Whether we can afford him might be a different matter.

ABBEY Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 you might have a drinking partner for the 2nd half waggy if its as crap as the last game.

Whether we can afford him might be a different matter. Hypothetical at the moment but for me I can stomach the poor football in return for Premiership survival (needs must at present). The question is would you put up with it in the Championship?

The question is would you put up with it in the Championship? your prepared to watch crap to stay in the premier, were 3 games in and survival should not be on anyone's lips, the problem is lardarse only knows one way to win a game,%football is the name of the game, not pretty and plenty of teams know how to play against it
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 your prepared to watch crap to stay in the premier Er..yeah. Waggy, survival until new owners are found is THE priority. Hopefully then things will improve on the pitch. Not the way I'd choose to do it, but we have little option. If we are relegated then I can't see why we wouldn't get rid of Sam and bring in someonelse with a different footballing philosophy.
