May have been mentioned, but Sam's quote on the official site.

“There were a lot of players that haven’t lived up to their own reputations and that is a bit disappointing after two good performances against West Ham and Wolves”

He classes the West Ham performance as good? Concerning.

JHC, if he thinks that was a 'good' performance we're well and truly f***ed.

Let's face it, there are certain vultures on this forum who were just waiting in anticipation for Sam to slip up so they could swoop in for the kill. For Eddie to say he would prefer Ince is charge is hysterical and downright inexplicable. I can only assume it's some sensationalist cry for attention.

No one is pleased with yesterday's result, but at least Sam has thrown the gauntlet to the fringe players against Forest to earn a place in the side.

Sam is living off his reputation from 2 clubs ago.

But Roberts isn't Davies, Salgado isn't Campo, MGP isn't whoever took their throws, Andrews and Grella aren't Nolan and that Greek bloke, Kalinic isn't Anelka etc etc. He's had 2 transfer windows so, like it or not, he owns this team and its performances.

9 months into his reign and we're in the bottom 3, the defence is a shambles, Roberts up front on his own and his key signings are so far away from being ready (if ever) it's not true - when does he think the season starts, November?

Without his rapidly fading reputation, this would be classed as disastrous.

I also fear that he has thrown the gauntlet down to Forrest to come and attack us like maniacs.

I am a supporter of Allardyce, but what the $%&@ was that yesterday?

I thought we looked like a Div 1 team trying to play against a Premier team in the FA Cup.

We will not be relegated I am sure, but Jesus it may be close if yesterday is something to build on. Either the players didn't give a damn or Allardyce had the tactical awareness of my cat.

Pre Everton it was looking OK - 1 bad performance and all the drama queens come out again!

Looking OK, for what?

Champs league (1.95 pts/game)?

Europe (1.56 pts/game)?

Mit table (1.3 pts/game)?

or relegation ~1.02 pts/game?

Lets see before yesterday: Pld 4, Pts 4 so everything was looking ok for a relegation battle?

In the bottom 3, nine places and 5pts behind Burnley, relegation pts game ratio and 3 of the top 4 away coming up.

If being worried makes me a drama queen fine #

The formation worked well enough against Wolves, and so there was little reason to change a winning side. However, his biggest blunder was the debut of Salgado and not changing things around when it was clearly ineffective and we were only 1-0 down.

Sam has won the benefit of the doubt after clearing up Ince's mess, but if things haven't picked up around the end of November serious questions will be asked.

Have to say I'm not a big fan of this philosophy. Every team you play is going to be different. It requires a bit of tactical thinking IMO, not just sticking with what worked last time.

Can anyone seriously imagine our current team picking up the required points to stay up? It may work in certain games or under certain circumstances, but not all.

I would go a step forward, not many at all.

So to practical matters then. If you accept that we are unlikely to get more than 6 points more by early November at what point do you wield the axe and sack Allardyce? And who do you get to replace him?

 we'll get 3 from the dingles were's the others coming from :o

The last question is the important one. Who else would come in and do any better with absolutely no money to spend as anything we might have left would go in compensation?

im struggling to find the words to describe rovers' away form since allardyce has taken over.

ive had the misfortune of being at almost all of his away games and.... with the exception of fulham and sunderland games.... we have been woeful and embarrassing!

of course luck, poor finishing and a lack of resilience are factors, but it's time for the manager to take some the responsibility and question his own tactics and lack of inventive game plans.

it's either 6 or 7 away defeats on the bounce... and to say that's not acceptable and worrying is an understatement. :o

Not the answer to the question. Who else would come in and do better with NO Money to spend. Yes, the board sacked Ince and I'm not for one minute suggesting that allardyce is untouchable, but getting rid of Ince took a large sum of money which we could have used for players or to lessen our debt. we don't want to go down that route again unless it's absolutely inevitable.

It's 7 and I agree it is unacceptable. I mentioned yesterday that an Allardyce team is meant to be built upon being hard to beat. We're pushovers away from home right now and the run will no doubt stretch to ten after visiting Chelsea, United and Arsenal. At least if we reach 11 I read today that we will equal a club record dating back to the 60's <_< .

Maybe that's what Tugay is waiting for.

But how long until the whole of Blackburn turn against him???

I dislike SA and have never rated him as a manager since he left Bolton. I did not want him appointed last summer and did not want him appointed when Ince was sack. Somebody put it very well earlier when they said that he is living off past reputation that is very rapidly diminishing. However what concerns me the most is the glaring errors that we (the non-experts) have picked up on comfortably before Sam.

Going to into a new season without a left back?! Playing 4-5-1 a formation that never works at blackburn (yes we beat an appalling wolves team, but I reckon we would have done playing 1-6-3 ). Playing Salgado away at Everton-what about Emerton? Leaving it far too late to make changes to the team/setup. These are not difficult spots-this isnt me playing too much football manager and asking 'how come we havent sold Roberts for 10m and brought in Defoe and Bent to replace him?' Its basic common sense!

Yes its only 5 games in, but we will be 2nd bottom by the end of October and we look like a total shambles!

Prior to the weekend I meant - We had 4pts, a good performance against Wolves and despite the low points - played well at Sunderland and against City....or did you forget that?

Yes we are 3rd bottom/ or joint 3rd bottom with 2 others depending on how you look at it.

Thanks for the personal insult too.........

We did have Warnock, at the start of the new season. He is a left back. I know Givet has been outstanding at centre back, but he needs to move to LB, as Chimbonda looks uncomfortable. Chimbonda or Nelsen to partner Samba

Considering what I can see, I would go for the following being our aparent current 1st choice team (considering only those we have seen so far):

Robbo

Jacobsen Samba Givet Chimbonda

Grella Nzonzi

Diouf Dunn Pedersen

Roberts

If I were to pick a squad for the Nott's game:

Brown

Jones Nelsen Givet Salgado

Hoilett Emerton Reid Van Heerden

McCarthy Kalinic

For the Villa game, MY choice currently would be:

Robbo

Jacobsen Samba Chimbonda Givet

Hoilett Emerton Dunn Diouf

McCarthy Kalinic

My 1st team choice is based merely on my own opinion. We need to get Roberts and Andrews out of the squad. Grella and Pedersen are good, BUT are VERY inconsistent and should be benched for a while. We need to give others a chance and I see that 442 as being fairly formidable.

Be careful you’ll have the pro-Sam alliance after you.

He’s the best thing that’s happened to this club in a long time

The clock is ticking Mr Allardyce.

Its bloomin annoying..

Since Big Sam has taken over, I have been to the following away games

Sunderland 0-0

Sunderland 0-0

Boro 0-0

Stoke 0-1

City 1-3

United 1-2

Sunderland 1-2

Everton 0-3

No excitement, some horror shows and a lot of wasted money. Doesn't even take into account Ince reign... I don't think we have won in my last 13 or 14 away games.

On a college student budget, a lot of my money is being wasted on poor performances. I love Rovers too much not to go, but I am beginning to grow weary of our collapses or lack of adventure away from home.

Five points behind Burnley, and extremely concerned we will lose to them. People seem to be acting confident, but surely people must be worrying? If the league table doesn't lie, they're currently five points better than us, after an arguably more difficult start. If Sam loses or doesn't beat Burnley (depends on the Villa result, Arsenal is wiped off (sure Sam will see that as a game that doesn't matter anyway ;) )) then I think he's going to lose the Rovers fans.

Very worried that Sam doesn't know how to address this worrying start to the season, as people on here said getting off the ground running was vital, due to our horrible October fixtures. Well, we are barely walking. :brfc:

The 'stand up and be counted' match for players and the manager has to be next Saturday. Not Tuesday, that's a 'stand up and book your place' for the players and, while it's a potential banana skin, it's not one that will decide anybody's future.

What is more likely is that I can see a fair amount of fans turning against Sam on Saturday if things don't go well. I'm a Sam supporter right now but he is making some interesting choices and his 'I'm the expert' comment could well come back and bite him badly. It was ill-informed and arrogant and another performance like Sunday could see some people making a song out of it and he'd deserve it. It's not make or break time yet but it is about the supporters turning against him and it could take a long time for him to win them back. I still think he is the man for the job but he needs to get the players playing, the performances and (more importantly) the results in the bag before making any more comments about being the expert. When we're safe from relegation, have despatched Burnley and we're sitting safe in mid-table (my expectation this season) then he can say he's the expert and he was right.

Some very similar sounds starting to come out from both sides of the fence as we had last season, fact is it's a worse start and also it's gone backwards from the first five of Sam's tenure, far from satisfactory.

Last season five games in.

F6 A 11 7 points

Sams first five from Dec

F8 A 2 9 points

This season.

F4 A 10 4 points

We leaked goals last season under the previous tenure roughly @ 1.83/1, Sam shut up shop but we scored goals @ 4/1 a tremendous turn round. We are now at a ratio 2.5 /1.

The major difference apart from players is the system.

Sam is a self proclaimed statistician, I'd say he needs to start reading them and heeding what they tell him.

Sort it out.
