You still watching the 'Summer of Sam' Spencey7?

[Dog is barking and the Son of Sam is sobbing and trembling]

Son of Sam: How did you get in here? Leave me alone! What do you want?

Harvey the Black Dog: I want you to go out and kill. Kill.

Son of Sam: No -

Harvey the Black Dog: Kill!

[the Son of Sam is still trembling]

Harvey the Black Dog: KILL!

Son of Sam: [murmurs something inaudible] I will kill. I will... I'll do anything you say. I'll do anything you say! Yes, master! I will kill! I WILL KILL!

I think the team selection was right today but have to say Sam got lucky, it was clear to anyone Grella should have been off for Emo at half time as he was on a booking early.

I have to agree on that front. I would have taken Grella off earlier. However Sam doesn't seem to want to play Emerton in the middle? I would partner him with NZonzi next game but Sam doesn't seem up for it.

I will be fuming if Andrews comes back in, which he almost certainly will.

So should we also have taken Dunny and Diouf cos they were booked too? Grella and N'Zonzi were keeping Villa's central midfield under control so why change things?

Grella plays in a role where he is always likely to pick up a booking though. I have to say his first booking was well worth it, took one for the team there.

Also the answer to your second point is clear, the reason to change things was demonstrated in the 68th minute.

Waggy

you and your strop missed a cracking game to day.

The only hoofball team on show was the opposition mate.

2-1 to Sam and the boys

read it and weep.

Lets not get carried away here, we had luck on our side today.

We played football as you say, but this 1 up front isn't going to wash, what is the manager thinking?

I hear he puts games into categories A,B and C, playing the percentages again, but Villa must have been a B, hence still 1 up front, but who falls into a C when we'll see 4-4-2 :o

Still credit where credits due, it worked today and that’s a great win, but how far have we fallen to look at beating Villa at home in terms of a great win…….but that’s not Allardyces fault.

Lets hope Reid does enough in training!

I accept your point Gav but I dont think we have fallen by thinking its a success at Ewood by beating Villa.

Villa have progressed massivley, both off and on the field, and IMO have become one of the big 7 through the progressive management of MON and his staff. Look at the playing staff they have compared to yesteryear.

A solidly built team that can challenge the top 4 is what they have.

Rovers have seen Villa slam us 3 games on the bounce at Ewood, today we bucked the trend and took the points.

In comparison to last year, we whooped Everton away and got beaten at home by Villa, this year its the opposite that has happened.

I wonder if this year we can buck the trend of not taking points from the big 4, home and away :o

We should just enjoy the win, bottom line :tu:

This fixation with formation is strange to say the least. Dunn is in the best form of his career since the first time he was here and the 4-5-1 provides him with the ball, in space, in dangerous areas. It wasn't in the least bit negative today. Why can't people see that? I can only put it down to having an "agenda"? Or am I wrong?

was you watching a different game course we were lucky to get the win god only knows where the next points will come from WAKE UP

Every team gets lucky sometimes.Nobody says anything when "big" teams get dodgy wins - they say it's because they know how to win and grind out results, regardless of how they are playing. Having said that I thought we were pretty good today once samba equalised. Before that, we struggled. One team got better throughout the match and the other faded. The result was unexpected - I avoided posting on here because I really am the worst of pessimists, so I don't have to eat humble pie, - and I'm delighted that I was wrong.

I don't know about anyone else, but my biggest problem with the 4-5-1 was Roberts being a lone frontman. He's one of the least gifted finishers in the professional game, so pinning so much on him was a bad move. Even his much lauded ability to unsettle defenders hasn't been on show of late, meaning that he wasn't creating a great deal of space for anyone breaking from midfield.

Today, with Di Santo up front there was a bit more about us. If there is to be a return for Roberts then he needs a partner to play off and to make room for, because even with Dunn and Diouf making runs we have too much of a gap between attack and midfield for Roberts' work-rate to be effective in a 4-5-1.

My other personal gripe with the 4-5-1 is that barring a miracle (i.e. all our midfielders being fit) it forces us to start with Andrews, Grella or both, and I can't stand either because they aren't good enough.

I dont understand your point we were the better team for the majority of the game and we had 10 men and villa are a top 6 team, our next points will come from hard work as it did today.

Rovers had always had a good work ethic which has won us many matches, we tend to lack a bit of quality which di santo and dunn provided today, if we can play like we did today for the majority of the season i dont see us struggling to take points off teams.
