Sam is expecting to lose Di Santo in January. It´s obvious we need a striker to replace him. Wonder if there will be Warnock money available or would it be a loan move. Benjani will be linked to us that´s for sure. It´s actually the only name coming in mind.

Um, we literally, absolutely, have no money. No chance. Either Kalinic or Hoilett need to be ready. Or McCarthy find some form. As a long shot we can play Diouf up front. But unless we sell someone we won't be buying anyone.

If we are desperate it will be another loan from somewhere else.

Anyhoo, it looks like we will only regularly be using one striker so you could argue it we will be fine provided those we do have perform.

Really? He had scored 28 in 40 games for Milan the season before he signed for Chelsea at the age of 29. How did you know his best days were behind him?

Fact, not fiction Waggles.

Shevchenko was bobbins in the prem, and they kept playing him until he drained every last bit of confidence.

Anyone reading what Sam said about giving them time to adjust must surely agree - only a numpty wouldnt see sense in what he was saying!!!

Is the game played the same way in the prem as it is in Spain? No, its much faster and less technical.

He needs to adjust to the pace of the game. Personally I diont think Salgado will be good enough - im simply agreeing with what said about some players needing time.

:rover: now then thats a big difference from when we were signing him, face it lardarse has wasted £4 million on a has been, and £6 million on a nobody :brfcsmilie:

I expect Kalinic to take over from Di Santo once he leaves. It was obvious Kalinic wouldn't be ready to play straight away, but will be first choice in a 4-5-1 by next year.

Even a 34 year old needs time, it's impossible to reasonably criticise a player after 1 or 2 games. I'll be less impressed if Salgado has another game or 2 like he did against Everton.

Kalinic is 21 - Id say he has time yet. I didnt expect him to walk in and be the next big superstar straight away. Give him 6-12 months. I think Di Santo was brought in as a stop gap to allow him time. However Sam may now want to keep Di Santo if at all possible

As for £4m? I think Salgado was free. Never mind - keep up waggles...

Agree that it seems a waste if he really is on 40k a week. I hope it's nearer 20k personally.

I do agree that Salgado could be a complete waste of money. However Waggy you would have to say yourself that Givet, Diouf, Di Santo. NZonzi and Jackobsen all look like outstanding pieces of business?

Even Hughes signed a few turkeys (Rigters, Vogel, Mokoena). Souness signed loads wasting a lot more money than Sam could do!

On balance I think it is hard to attack Sam's transfer record at the moment. Your going to need to find a new hobby horse.

I seem to remember Tugay not being that great when he first signed, he slowly turned into a hero. Granted Salgado doesn't have the few years to turn into a cult figure for us but I'm sure he'll improve.

I think Sam has carried out some decent transactions. Ideally we'd have kept Santa Cruz if he'd wanted to stay, but other than that we've done pretty well out of the summers business.

Can you prove he's on 40k a week? And if he's rubbish - nothing to say he will stay for 2 seasons.

Allardyce said that he wasn't interested in signing Van Nistelrooy as our "big name" replacement as he "wasn't going to be fit until September".

So now we're into October. And our Roque replacement isn't ready.

For some reason I imagine Wooggy to be a sad, sad case. I bet he's overweight on Dingle pies, sad and alone. But it's okay.. I'm sure if we finished in the top 6 he'll be the first to say that we could be breaking the big 4.

yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn, your a goon and a fad. at least the clubs supporters that you follow think this way about you, imagine how bumley think of you

Van Nistelrooy wouldn't be able to train with us properly until September. Kalinic was fit, but Sam is trying to bring him in slowly, get him match ready and prepare him for a better standard of a league. He's also about 10 years younger?

It's the same story about Salgado. Are you seriously going to start complaining about player fitness when we have the WHOLE squad fit, and have had it for a number of weeks now, which is a first inI don't know how long...
