More awful decisions made today by Allardyce. Deary me. I had a lot of faith in the manager before this season but he's made some terrible gaffes that seemingly 95% of people watching the games can see don't work but he perseveres with.

Puts Zurab out on loan then moans that he's having a defensive crisis before the game.

Can't blame the team they haven't picked themselves, or the formation, or made the subs.

Sam is doing well. The defeat to Arsenal hurts, especially after such a great start, but its not like we didn't know it was coming. Of the games we've played, onlt the West Ham and Everton performances dissappointed me. Other than that, we've been playing like a top half squad.

I do question Sam's some of choices (except Dunn, he needed to come. Frustration was obvious and disaster was looming). Andrews? McCarthy? Pederson? Pedersen and McCarthy have no fire, and Andrews is no where near the ability to match Arsenal. Hull, Wolves, etc. he's fine but against the top half, forget it.

See where we are at the end of May- we cannot keep having these hysterics after each game.

We played an excellent Villa side and won, we play a world class outfit in Arsenal without 3 key defensive players and give them a real fight for 60 minutes, what do fans want? Dunn is rested now for Burnley game, Nelson and Samba as well as Grella will be back for the biggest game of the season- have faith.

havnt posted in a bit but all the ones against big sam are really getting on my nerves. win and you dont here a wisper but as soon as we lose they are on his back big time. come on i mean who really thought we would get a result today. at least we have had a go and on another day might have got a point or a win. just that when we went for it we got caught on the break. do we really want to be like chelsea etc were we sack our manager every 5 minutes. i want stability at this club but some so called fans are complete muppets.

Premier League football.

Honestly some folks' memories are so bad, last season is already a total blur to them.

Oh c'mon. We survived because there were 3 horrendous teams worse than us. It was a decent job but not a "miracle". A good number of other managers could have gotten us out of the bottom 3 too. We couldn't have gotten much worse anyway.

Really ? Of the managers that were available, who else would have saved us ?

In view the paucity of talent available and low morale within the club when he arrived Allardyce could be proud of the fact and Rovers fans should be eternally grateful that he saved the club from relegation.

Did I mention sacking him? No, I was suggesting he was making the same mistakes game after game. That's a bit different. Other managers have 'got it wrong' in the past but Sam seems to be overlooking key problems time and time again. If it was lack of money or injuries, that's understandable, but some of his problems are of his own doing. The team seem to be playing not only against the opposition but against the formation and tactics. That's where a lot of people are fearful for their teams position. It's not just today's game that bodes ill for the future but the way Sam's set his stall out.

For your info, after the Wolves win and after the Villa win although happy with the victories I was still confused by the managers decisions pre-match and in-game. Down to 10 men and bring Andrews on? Not going to 4-4-2 against an absolutely toothless Wolves side? To say these decisions aren't in any way questionable is to stick your head in the sand. I'm not saying Allardyce out, but I think you'd be brain-dead to sit at Ewood and not be baffled at some of the team selections when they are read out. At most of the games this season there's been a collective pre-match head shake as far as my eyes can see.

I do hope he turns it around but to do that he's going to have to stop making the same mistakes game after game.

An ever increasing number of concerned voices on this thread questioning the manager and his tactics. I don’t think he could be blamed for that rubbish today, but he’ll be judged in the games against the so called lesser sides, starting 2 weeks today.

I don't know what planet Mr E is on.

The three horrendously bad clubs that got relegated are all weaker now than when they were in the Prem but are in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the second level league just now.

There were 5 points to be made up on getting to safety and we did it with six points and three games to spare.

We were hardly under-performing/under-achieving under-Ince. We were a complete and utter shambles that needed a huge amount of sorting.

I doubt anyone could take issue with Sam's interview after the Arsenal defeat but no doubt some will find something to carp about. I keep stressing I was not particularly pro-Sam at any stage before he came to Rovers but the guy has done a damned good job. We were spoilt by Hughes who rarely put a foot wrong- Sam has had his blips and bloopers with us but he did an excellent job last season in keeping us up, better in the transfer market this summer than I feared and I am not concerned for our Prem League place this season either.

At least we gave it a really good go against Arsenal for 50 odd minutes which is 50 minutes more than we gave a good go against the top 4 last season- in either Ince or Sam's time with us.

i wasnt picking on you in general i was having a go at everyone who moans at sam when we get beat. i have a season ticket and go to a fair few away games . didnt go today as they were working on the tube and wasnt risking paying good money and missing the game. any way we have been pritty unlucky in games and could have had more points than we have got. city at home, they got lucky on 2 counter attacks and if we had put our chances away would have been different. sunderland away i went to and we bettered them. just unfortunate we lost. west ham home didnt play well but could have nicked the points. all im saying is we arnt far away from having a desent team and a few results in our favor will change peoples opinion. alright andrews shouldnt have played today but we had grella suspended and 2 centre backs out injured so i dont think he could have chosen the team any differently. the only thing i will complain about is playing 4-4-2 at home but while 4-5-1 gets results i wont complain so much.

No worries mate, I just replied because you quoted me. I agree that we aren't far off having a decent team. Actually I believe we already have a decent team, they are just being played all wrong. I actually think Sam's a decent manager but at the moment he's undergoing some kind of mid-life-managerial crisis

That said like someone else said on another thread, I'm not the expert :D

The guy kept us up so he deserves time to get it right.

:rover: well your boyfriend nicko wrote he was on that amount, how would we get out of paying him a two year contract :brfcsmilie:

Pathetic! Do clubs and players never go their seperate ways? Do players never leave for other clubs etc?! Seriously I wonder some times......

Seriously mate - I agree 100% with you. The hysterics are unbelievable. 1 week we play Villa and win (sam doesnt get any credit, next week we play Arsenal - do well for 57 mins and then suprise suprise its all his fault...

Why is it that should we win the players get the credit and that sam was lucky...yet should we lose its all his fault??

Oh c'mon. We survived because there were 3 horrendous teams worse than us. It was a decent job but not a "miracle". A good number of other managers could have gotten us out of the bottom 3 too. We couldn't have gotten much worse anyway.

Seriously wake up. Which other managers was that? Shearer? Ince?

We conceded 6 goals against the best passing side in Europe, playing without THREE of our key defensive players, it was going to be a struggle but I will ask the same question again, when was the last time a Rovers side came this close to beating a top 4 side?

Faith is what we need and I predict a 6-0 hammering of Burnley :rover:

If we don't beat Burnley I will lose faith in the man. If we lose I will want him gone.

Obviously it would be unfair and a bit crazy, but we can never lose to that rabble :brfc:

Agree with you--it would be unfair and crazy. So why do it? And I too am sick of people who are quiet after a game like last week's against Villa but pipe up whenever we lose. We had a make-shift defence out against the best passing side in the premiership. But we had a go,didn't score last season did we?

In fairness to the 'expert' jibes appearing in this thread, the majority of us fans always assume we know the best line-up and the ideal positions for our players without any credentials to back it up. Sam is the manager, and until our downfall looks imminent, he is the man in charge.

Ey i didn't knock the team too much today, the defending was third rate but pleased we gave it a go.

Losing to Burnley would be a disaster for obvious reasons, and also it would mean 0 points in October.... we'd be cut adrift

Sacking the manager wouldn't improve that situation though would it? After all he's faced it many times before. Who has better experience of managing a liitle club in a big league with no money? We all knew when the fixture list came out that October would be hard. But in the end we all play the same 19 clubs. so lets have some longer perspective.

Today was a another sad show of the gulf of class between the top and bottom of this league. Arsenal bring on Walcott, Bendtner and Ramsey. We bring on MGP, McDonalds and Hoilett. There's nothing Sam can do to change that - can't help but think the players have either ignored or forgotten some things he'd have told them. I very much doubt he wanted the squad to give Arsenal so much time on the ball. With the type of players they have, you cannot let them run about the edge of the area like we did. Most players shooting from that distance would blast it off target, Arsenal's players generally hit the target, hence they must be closed down.

Hopefully a good thrashing of the dingles will boost morale for the club and support before another difficult couple of fixtures.

Centre half is probably the key position on the pitch. The previous three managers always managed to have sufficient, experienced cover in that position - be that Todd, Ooijer, early days of Samba, Zurab ... even Mokoena, Amoruso and Henchoz going back a bit.

So I don't get how we went into this match today with the current manager proclaiming to the nation on Sky Sports before the match that "with our injuries today we have to set up the team to protect our back 4"

He has blown the majority of the available wages on defenders - Givet, Jacobsen, Salgado, Chimbonda - and his back 4 today contained 3 of his own signings, and a youth product. (Even in these desperate times, no sign of Salgado).

With more common sense during the transfer window, Salgado and Chimbonda would be nowhere near Blackburn, and the back 4 could have been Emerton - Zurab - Givet - Warnock. Even the antique Ooijer would have been preferable to the makeshift mess on display at the Emirates.

Or the wasted wages on Salgado would have gone on protecting the more important central area. 17 year old Jones was the cover on the bench today. I seriously hope Zurab has a recall option - for the "expert's" sake.
