Sorry I've worded that wrong. I'd like to hear as oppossed to the players being blamed and singled out why not use the term "we" they are a team. I could just as easily ask, why didn't you tell them not too push forward?. Sam can say the players went chasing the game trying to score three, but he could just have easily said we went chasing the game but it didn't work out. If he feels the players made the wrong moves then why not keep that where it belongs in the dressing room and away from the public world.

Just as I would never publically tell someone off at work, I think Sam should do the same. If the person/persons involved are at fault do it privately. Wenger is a master at this he never blames his players in the press, he will say I never saw it or something akin to that. Wengers players in the main show him some serious loyalty and I know he would be a better boss for me than the one who does it so all can see.

I agree, I thought it was very poor on Sam's part to come out and start ripping into the players for not following his tactics that already had us 2-0 down and looking utterly hopeless anyway.

Well, we tried to attack against Arsenal and got bawled over. We tried to shut up shop against Chelsea and got obliterated as well. I'm not sure what other tactic Sam could use. Clearly the players don't have the necessary mental toughness that's required to protect a lead or defend a clean sheet. It's either that or Sam's half time talks are god awful.

How many times have you heard a manager say 'i got the tactics wrong today?'. Maybe a Keegan would say that but few others would.

Keggy Keegle could say that in all honesty after virtually every game, bless him.

Or it could be the players are getting totally confused and mystified by the decisions he makes.

Defend and try and nick something away - with only x1 striker especially when you don't have the providers to support the striker .. doh!!

Shut up shop at home when totally in control ... for a full half ...doh!!

Play all negative at home against a team that was in a spin after an event filled week in the cup

Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't football all about being confident and going out to win (like any sport) - wasn't it San that wanted homefans on all side of the ground at Ewood.

We are supposed to be an established Premier League team for FFS - what's the point of trying to get established players used to winning or exciting youner players with potential if we are just going to snub the natural scenario to go out and do' your stuff'.

There are times in a match when things need to be done, but not for full games or even half a game.

Misleading? Id love to know how many players we had on that day that believed we could outscore Chelsea at the Bridge...I think you will find the answer and correctly would be 0.

Surely that's like not chatting up the best looking girl in the club because you think she'll knock you back?

Clearly there needs to be a balance. Under Sam Bolton were able to play for a draw they had the mentality and the skill set. We don't, our players are used to playing, competing and winning (the Ince debacle aside of course).

All out defence doesn't work we got hammered, we gave the ball away by punting it long to a poor Jason Roberts and a quality Chelsea defence just swept up and started their next attack. Direct football against good central defenders doesn't work - Football Basics!

We aren't going to beat the top four every time retaining possession and playing football on the floor but we can compete and least we won't get battered.

Sam is wrong. He doesn't have any other ideas the team will HAVE to play HIS way, but he will need to swap a lot more players before we truly play the Bolton way.

Sparky always found a way of beating Bolton and occasionally Man Utd!

Im liking what im hearing from Sam on the rovers site.

He is basically saying we havent closed teams down enough, and not been in their face enough and that has to start from now....Looks to me like he is becoming more happy with his squad and believes with a fully fit squad (more or less) than we challenge the big boys again and make them feel like they have been in a game.

Here's hoping! :tu:

My 7 year old cousin mentioned about a month ago that none of the Rovers players mark players properly and we should tackle more. Glad Sam has seen it now!

It is slightly re-assuring that he knows we're not closing down enough, I was beginning to fear that was his tactic. Whether he can get us to do it or not remains to be seen, but at least he knows we need to.

Repeating points I have made before, but ideally he would want a more tenacious midfield.

Nolan was key for him at Bolton and a major part of their success, just have to wait a bit, as getting the players you want can be difficult, especially with no money...

Probably correct but Sam did sign Jay Jay Okacha to play the role Dunn is presently playing and has always taken a chance with 'Freebies' like he did with Kevin Davies, so if a player comes alsong who would add to the squad then he'll probably take it.

Sam is of the opinion that modern football ". . . has become a game for pansies to be honest with you."

http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1769_5662929,00.html

It's changed from his day thats for sure. Due mainly to the pitches it has become much quicker without doubt (the amateur game will be no different) with first touch paramount. As a result of that and the modern instructions to referees committed tackling is becoming increasingly difficult. Yellows and reds are given out like confetti even when it is obvious that there has been no intent to injure. Fat too many players now exploit the situation by diving, screaming and writhing about in order to get opponents booked and sent off. The cheats are profitting massively and that is the biggest issue that the authorities must come to terms with rather than fair but hard tackling.

SAM...THATS NOW 10 IN A ROW..COULD YOU PLEASE DEFINE THE WORD EXPERT AND WHAT YOU EXPERTISE IS IN ,BECAUSE IT ISNT ON WINNING MATCHES. 1 SHOT ALL GAME EVEN MY PUPPY COULD PICK A TEAM WITH HER TAIL TO GET THE SAME RESULT.

IF WE LOSE TO BOLTON IT EQUALS THE CLUB RECORD.

I expect there'll be the usual accusations of knee-jerking from the Sam fan club.

Many fans said to give him a couple of transfer windows and 10 games this season, so how is he doing after 11 months in charge?

We're 1 place of the drop and below all three teams that came up; 2nd worst goal diff in the league; 10 consecutive away defeats; his marque signings aren't even good enough to start; he hasn't fixed the midfield; shows no ambition whatsoever in games; makes poor substitutions and has totally lost his reputation for being tight at the back and giving the big boys a bloody nose.

Does anyone really believe the season is going to plan?
