unluckymorton Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 been offered a ticket for saturday, but whilst he's pulling the strings i will be watching in my local You've 'been offered' a ticket? It's not that difficult to get hold of one if you really want one. You really are showing your colours now, Sam won't be there, get down there and support the lads for once.
DanLad Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 been offered a ticket for saturday, but whilst he's pulling the strings i will be watching in my local 2 up top, no Andrews, no MGP... I'm not sure if Sam is pulling the strings!
gazsimm Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 2 up top, no Andrews, no MGP... I'm not sure if Sam is pulling the strings! shush, don't till waggy that, he will be pulling his own strings if he finds that out!!!
unluckymorton Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 shush, don't till waggy that, he will be pulling his own strings if he finds that out!!! Providing he sticks to pulling his string in his local and not on the BBE that's fine by me.
Rover95 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Could people stop quoting him (Waggy) please? I have him on ignore as he irritates the hell of me but keep seeing his posts when people quote him. Its very annoying
Hughesy Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 been offered a ticket for saturday, but whilst he's pulling the strings i will be watching in my local Loser. Sam's not their so you have no excuses now....or do you?!
Blue n White Rover Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Loser. Sam's not their so you have no excuses now....or do you?! Why give a toss whether he wants to come or not? It's his choice, no matter what we say will change his opinion so no need to waste time on the matter. We've actually done better since he's not been coming to the ground. So let's leave it at that shall we.
Amo Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I only hear white noise everytime Waggy posts now. It's a revelation!
thenodrog Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Anybody know how Sam is? Hope he's alright Isn't his op scheduled for Friday?
mellison24 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 My bad! Let's hope he gets through it OK. I just wonder if people will start putting 2 and 2 together if our results go well over the next month and start looking at the absence of Sam as the start of us playing better passing football. The second half on Sunday was the first time I've really seen us dominate for a consistent amount of time this season. It may just be me, but why do people STILL criticise Sam in terms of the long-ball so much? We have used it sparingly this season and have played some VERY good stuff (with Sam only missing one match in the process). I think it would be fairer to say that this is a result of the absences of Pedersen and Andrews (who I DO actually like before anyone jumps on me). Not having them as an option means mre possession (through lack of their wayward passes) and therefore not having to clear the ball so much (which is misconstrued as long-ball). I point to one of many pieces of evidence of the long-ball being effect when used correctly: Dunn's 60yard pass to Roberts after barging a Bolton player off the ball. I think that is the most satisfying 'non-goal-related' move I've seen in any of our games this year.

Agreed, I've said it previously... we've actually played some nice stuff this season, both along the ground and with a more direct, long ball approach. It hasn't been all that awful and I'm surprised at the people saying Bolton was one of our best performances in a while, when really it was full of mistakes compared to some of the previous games where we looked a lot more solid. I wonder if you view games differently depending on whether you have your optimistic or pessimistic spectacles on...

I wonder if you view games differently depending on whether you have your optimistic or pessimistic spectacles on... I think it depends on the feeling you have throughout the game. It never felt like we were going to lose and that creates a feelgood factor that helps people overlook the faults. Also all the quality play in the game came from us, despite the fact that we also made a lot of errors.
ABBEY Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Mikery you bugger belief...you slag me for popping about the 1st half v pomps and then you whinge about the piggy game.it was most heart, passion and proper footy we done in years.

I'm not sure how me having said we had a decent game, but were misplacing a lot of passes and have room for improvement compares with some of the things you've said. I made my comments AFTER the game, not halfway through it.
sparkspakespoke Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Wasn't decent at bolton ....WAS FANTASTIC. Wasnt fantastic because of the standard of our play though, that was just decent against a very poor side.
unluckymorton Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Wasnt fantastic because of the standard of our play though, that was just decent against a very poor side. Any win is fantastic for us. Especially an away local derby. Lets work on getting points on the board and worry about pretty football when we're in a comfortable enough position to do so.

Don't agree - I thought best bit of footie we have played was second half against Villa. Bolton was extremely good though. In all honesty we are not performing far off from our best under Hughes when the mood takes us. Problem is we concede easy goals and are terrible away to the big teams.

I think if we had a keeper like Brad our defence would be solid and that would give the midfield a lot more confidence.
T4E Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I think if we had a keeper like Brad our defence would be solid and that would give the midfield a lot more confidence. I wish Brad was still here as much as the next guy, but there's absolutely no way any criticism can be levelled at Paul Robinson. He's superb.
PAFELL Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I think if we had a keeper like Brad our defence would be solid and that would give the midfield a lot more confidence. Lets be honest though the back four have seen a few changes - both Warnock and Oojar no longer at Rovers - yes I know Warnock was played in the midfield a few games. Either way there are still new full backs who have to learn to gel with Nelson and Samba. I don't think Sam has even settled on his best full backs yet, chimbonda, Olson, Salgado, Jacobson - even Emerton if required. As a team they have to start believing in themselves. Confidence though was battered against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man u - because Sam chose to try to defend than have ago at either of them - though for awhile it can be said they had ago at an excellent Arsenal team that day, and paid a heavy price. Sadly progress is often slow - we want it now - but that is not reality.

T4E Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 We'll never have a keeper as good as Brad again. At one point during his time with us there wasn't another GK in the World I'd have taken before him. However, if we always have keepers as good as Paul Robinson we wont be going too far wrong. It's like saying Bellamy wasn't good enough because he wasn't as good as Shearer.
