[Archived] Sam Allardyce

Recommended Posts

Think Allardyce is finished now, a washed out middle aged midlander just awaiting that final knockout punch to end his career.

Shame, but buying three right backs in the summer he brought about his own demise.

cheerio Sam you wont be missed.

I have defended Sam in the past but after hearing his interview with espn before the game it sounded like we lost the before a ball was kicked.

I think I am a patient fan, probably over patient at times but I was completely deflated last night. What worries me is that was probably our strongest side (except for Andrews) and City didn't even get out of first gear and they stuffed us.

We had a 15 minute spell where we played well but that was when we were losing 3-0. The players knew they were going to lose so they probably relaxed a bit and started playing decent stuff.

I'm not expecting us to beat city but at least give them a game, maybe there are to many players at the club who are looking for a move but it is up to Sam to either drop them or get them motivated again.

I don't think Sam will get sacked, I don't think we can afford to sack him so I'm hoping we have hit the bottom and the rollocking that the players got last night will spur them on to a better performance on Thursday and more importantly Sunday.

I've just listened to his after match speech and I just don't get it?

He says we lost because we didn't defend as a team, but all we did was defend.

We don't have a clue what to do when we get the ball its embarassing to watch and I've seen 8 year olds with better movement.

If we could keep the ball and work it around the pitch we wouldn't spend the whole game behind the ball trying to defend.

We had more attempts on goal - it was more the nature of our attempts that told the true story though - was the main line I liked from ESPN last night.

You have to admit that he's right - we didnt defend - Id say 3 of those 4 goals should of been stopped by decent defending. There was probably only the 4th that was 'very good'.

The 1st was a mix up with Keeper & Julie who was supposed to stick to his post, the 2nd anyone of 5 should of snapped Richards, the third was weak by Givet & then NZonzi missed the ball, which broke to Tevez.

Does anyone feel there could be a chance Sam could be moved 'upstairs' with McDonald taking over?

It could be cost effective and give Mcdonald a chance to show what he's about, he did well at Carlisle as a number 1 and they played decent football too!1

My issue has and always will be possesion we are always about 40%, we will not win games. i would argue that if you have the ball and keep it you don't have to defend as much. Its obvious to me we cannot do what Sam wants and he doesn't seem to be able come up with a new plan.

You can look at the individual mistakes, but for me its past that point now. Collectively its not working at present and it doesn't look like changing because Sam has now employed these tactics at 3 clubs to date. This was always going to happen IE the fans not tolerating the football on show. The fact people are calling for his head dispite the fact we are doing better just shows the levels of frustration amougst the supporters at present. Its going to come to a head and something will have to be done, because at present change is a long way from Ewood.

I said it before he came and I've said it all along & before, Sam's success was down to his 32 man team at Bolton, unless we are willing to allow him more back-room support it will carry on as is.

Not going to happen, do you believe Sam would take the step? I don't.

Sam needs more support, more coaches, more science. Suggesting sacking is stupid we simply cannot afford it and we're not 5 points adrift. We as a club need to take a long hard look at all policies at the club because they are what has gotten us into this mess. We need to re-look at the money because if that team is what £40,000,000 a year gets you then I dispair. The structure and focus of our club is all wrong and it needs to change, its meant to be keeping us in this league and yes it will short term (which it has) but alas we where intending on staying here a long time and only planned short term.

I think we had more overall attempts than City Maj - something like 12 shots compared to City's 11 or the like. But as Hughesy said it's the nature of these 'attempts' such as Nzonzi and MGP doing their best to hit some poor sod up in row Z that's the issue. City meanwhile may have only had 11 but they were mostly goal scoring chances - think Tevez' missed header, Robinho's run and shot etc. We probably only had 2 or 3 on target.

This is what concerns me also. Allardyce talks like we create gilt edged chance after chance but the truth is very few (I'm thinking Kalinic and Di Santo over recent months) have actually been straightforward goalscoring chances.

Sort it out NOW Sam because if we don't have the points on the board before the last 6 games then we are down!

At best we will get 2 wins from the last 6 games!!

Oh my. I think our fate could be decided either way by the end of February. Most of our winnable games occur until then.

As I said in my other post, I'm losing patience with Sam. I supported his appointment and was grateful for the job he did last year, and sympathetic of the job at hand he has here. But what I won't tolerate is when he arbitrarily shoots himself and the club in the foot with his broken tactics and confusing team selections. Anyone could see that Di Santo was struggling on his own, but instead of giving Kalinic a chance to play off him, he hauls Di Santo off at HT (when we're already 2-0 down) and sends Kalinic scavenging for scraps.

I think once attendances start to fall (don't know if they have yet or not?) the axe will start to be sharpened

The majority are tied down with season tickets so the difference isn't that noticeable.

Just look at the ticket sales for a SEMI FINAL though, obviously our only chance of glory this season and the sales are abysmal. I think this speaks volumes about the current mood at Ewood, particularly towards BFS.

Nothing to do with the blackburn public being tight arses and it being on TV?? Abit like City fans last night!

That just adds to it.

If we were playing well I have no doubts that sales would be a lot better than they are. We could have done with at least a half decent performance last night to inspire people to go on Thursday night. The crap that was served up is more likely to leave people wanting to RETURN tickets rather than buy them!

:rover: never been a fan of lardarse his team selections get worse every week, why we play di santo when we have a player on the bench who he paid 6 million for is beyond me,di santo offers no goal threat.hiollet on the bench again, the only rovers player who is willing to take a man on.we need a creative midfielder, but lardarse just buries his head in the sand.the club should be looking into ways of getting rid, never mind we can't afford to pay him up,we could just pay him monthly till some other idiots appiont him :brfc:

Waggy it looks like Mathewman is the one who wanted him, so it should be him alone who pays Allardyce off.

Allardyce must go. No debate. At least most fans finally realise this now. The cup run is masking his failure. Out now, before we're in the Championship - a distinct possibility. The next four home games are the only chance we have to get out of this mess. At the moment, I just can't see us getting enough points.

We want our Rovers back.
