gazsimm Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Big Sam needs to be approched now, lucky for us sunderland have not cmon in for him yet. Lets hope Williams is on the phone to him today
mark1875 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 he wasnt this morning lol - bfs was on goals on sunday plugging himself for the black cats job
LWX Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 NO TO FAT SAM Bring back Souey. It's a tough one... Neither are ideal, but then again neither is our current situation. Under pressure I'd say Souey.... Oh god, I can't believe I said it
gumboots Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I doubt he's daft enough to rule out well paid employment at the top level because of a facebook page. He could easily have ruled himself out or suggested the chance had gone on Goals On Sunday this morning - he didn't. Very diplomatic as most managers are when the vacancy isn't available yet but there was certainly a suggestion there that he would be interested. Anyone Rovers fan that would actually vocally object to him coming in now must be a complete tool in my opinion. OK then I am one. I want rid of Ince but I don't want Allardyce. I wish I knew who I did want because I can't see Souness being any good either
gazsimm Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 NO TO FAT SAM Bring back Souey. Sam or souey i think will help Rovers get us out this mess, i just hope the board bring either of them this week, other then wait and the let the mess deepen and get worse for Rovers.
AJW Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 souey would be great!!..................as long as he never went on the training pitch and never spoke to the players or talk about the players or had any contact with the players especially david dunn
PAFELL Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 OK then I am one. I want rid of Ince but I don't want Allardyce. I wish I knew who I did want because I can't see Souness being any good either I suppose we should start making a list of possibles with prem experience - in case the club does read this message board. We maybe able to give them an idea of who to go for. Available are (not in order) BFS Souness Curbishley Keegan
DanLad Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 There's only Sam. Souness would be a disaster. Does nobody remember how much he had lost the plot at the end of his stint here?
yellowsubmarine Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Sam prefers Sunderland than us now. It's so gloomy at the moment.
Stuart Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Those people shouting for Souness to be brought back. Didn't Dunn leave the club solely down to the way Souness treated him and other players. Considering how talismanic Dunn could be for us in the coming months, could he get over this and work for Souness. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then but I just wonder...

Yep I think that was the main reason. I also seem to remember Cole reporting Souness to the PFA for "victimisation". The first incident of it's kind!
Mr. E Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Souey mucked things up at the end, but people forget that Bolton were quite dreadful under Fat Sam for many periods too. But the difference is Bolton played some of the most boring football in the premiership, while under Souey, at least in his first seasons, we played our best this decade - and that with mostly championship players.
j166429 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Sam dismisses Rovers link He does say the following though - "There's nothing in it at the moment."

So?
John Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I thought he looked a bit uneasy when talking about it. As stated, he also said nothing in it at the moment (so hardly ruling anything out).
DanLad Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 He does say the following though - "There's nothing in it at the moment." Ince is still in the job, hence why he says it's speculation...

How many live Bolton games did you get to during Sam's time there? Apart from our local derby games with them? People keep mentioning the terrible football played by Allardyce's sides but I've not heard any Bolton fans complain about him. Hell, I'd settle for a few boring games right now if they were Rovers victories!
martonrover Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 If/when Ince is sacked I can't believe that Allardyce wouldn't at least agree to talk to us.If Sunderland wanted him that would then give them the hurry up, a bit like the Hughes situation with Chelsea/City during the Summer.
Hasta Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 People keep mentioning the terrible football played by Allardyce's sides but I've not heard any Bolton fans complain about him. Hell, I'd settle for a few boring games right now if they were Rovers victories! I would be quite happy to see Allardyce in at Ewood as soon as possible. However, I work with a few Bolton fans. They were hapy when they were winning but they said it was awful to watch when they were going through bad spell. Believe me, some complained.
thenodrog Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 There's only Sam. Souness would be a disaster. Does nobody remember how much he had lost the plot at the end of his stint here? Hmmm I'll tell you what I do remember........ 1. He stubbornly insisted on playing players out of position. Remind us of anyone else? 2. He got us out of the 2nd Div BUT We'd have been relegated for sure if he had not gone when he did. 3. Dodgy deals. Grabbi and the Italian job and Ferguson the Scottish sting. 4. An attitude to european competition that was at odds to our own fans and football fans of just about every other team that I have spoken to. On the other hand... 5. Brad and Tugay. 6. Cardiff. I would be quite happy to see Allardyce in at Ewood as soon as possible. However, I work with a few Bolton fans. They were hapy when they were winning but they said it was awful to watch when they were going through bad spell. Believe me, some complained. Hells teeth Hasta! Arsenal fans have been on Wengers case when they've dropped points this season!
Amo Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 RE: players out of position - Why do you think Souness lost the plot like he did? When you consider the teams that he built during his time here. Players like Dunn, Duff, Berkovic, Tugay, Jansen, Cole, Sukur etc. Then we ended up with Dominic Matteo and Gresko playing midfield, and Paul Dickov as our number one striker. It just feels really strange how he completely lost the plot and turned into us into a second-rate side devoid of confidence.
Hasta Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Hells teeth Hasta! Arsenal fans have been on Wengers case when they've dropped points this season! I was just pointing out to Jisty that some Bolton fans did moan about it. Don't get me wrong, he is my preferred choice by a long way.
