Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Even if Big Sam is interested, he can't say he wants the job while we already have someone employed, so why the surprise?

Commondore Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 RE: players out of position - Why do you think Souness lost the plot like he did? When you consider the teams that he built during his time here. Players like Dunn, Duff, Berkovic, Tugay, Jansen, Cole, Sukur etc. Then we ended up with Dominic Matteo and Gresko playing midfield, and Paul Dickov as our number one striker. It just feels really strange how he completely lost the plot and turned into us into a second-rate side devoid of confidence. Seriously, how did that happen? I have the same thougts about Allardyce as I have about Souness; Why don' we look after a quality manager instead of a hardman to threaten and scream our club above the relegation zone?
Hi Mack Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Seriously, how did that happen? I have the same thougts about Allardyce as I have about Souness; Why don' we look after a quality manager instead of a hardman to threaten and scream our club above the relegation zone? We cant take another risk! We need someone whos been through this before!
Commondore Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 We cant take another risk! We need someone whos been through this before! It's one thing "taking a risk" on a good manager and one thing "taking a risk" on a manager with two seasons of League II experience... I don't think this has to be a relegation battle yet, and that we still have theoppurtunity of steering into midtable mediocrity with someone good managing us. It might be time to worry, but not to panic.
neekoy Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Big Sam has ruled himself out, the way it was put it sounds like he was only interested when it was down to three, anyone think he isn't going to hold the club to ransom now it appears he is in the driving seat?
tchocky Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Last night I dreamt that he was appointed..
Bobby G Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I wish that dream comes true...Id be crapping myself if I was one of the players and he walked in.
philipl Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 It won't be Allardyce. I am as certain as I can be that he will not be appointed and I have switched from being pro to being against him in the past couple of weeks.

He was pretty offended by the abuse he got from Rovers fans in summer. Fickle bunch, eh?

tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 Here's the exact quotes from Allardyce: Allardyce was one of three people shortlisted for the post in the summer, but he insists he has no connection to the role now. “That is pure press speculation,” he told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme. “As far as I am concerned, there was a chance that I talked to Blackburn when it was between me, Paul Ince and Steve McClaren. “But that has been the sum total of any contact between me and Blackburn since then. There’s nothing in it at the moment.” The former Bolton and Newcastle boss did admit, however, that he was keen to speak to Sunderland about the vacant manager’s post at the Stadium of Light. “There’s been no contact between me and Sunderland,” he said. “But I’d like to talk to them. I think that would be nice and we could see where went from there. “I’d like to get back into the game obviously now. I’ve recharged the batteries, I’m raring to go and if the opportunity came along, as long as it was the right club for me, that would be great.” To me that's a man who would obviously prefer the Sunderland job, but he hasn't denied interest in the Rovers job at all. His statement at the end also shows he really wants to get back into management. Interesting he says "there's nothing in it at the moment". All I've heard from a few Sunderland fans I know is that it's unlikely Allardyce will be considered and I think Sam has said this to see if Sunderland come after him since there's another job going if they don't. Sadly though I think our board would prefer Souness. The mind boggles to be honest.
Ray-Von Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Agree with your last sentence 100%. I would have imagined that if Sunderland wanted Allardyce, he would have been installed by now, after all it's two weeks since Keane walked.
Mc Love Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Sam is the man... Big Fat Sam (full-length version) When he hears that alarm-clock chime, Big fat Sam is there on time. Putting on his coat and hat, In less than seven seconds flat. He's always on the scene. Big Fat Sam! And his hairs bright and clean. Big fat Sam! You can not ignore, Sam is the hero next door. Driving down the busy streets, Greeting people that he meets. Rovers could be in a jam, So, hurry hurry Big fat Sam. So move aside, make way. Big Fat Sam! 'Cos he's gonna save the day. Big Fat Sam! He's the one we adore. Sam is the hero next door. When he's winning games, He's always cool and calm. And everyone admires, When there's a relegation battle. He's great, he never tires. He always sees it through And that's true. So move aside, make way. Big Fat Sam! 'Cos he's gonna save the day. Big Fat Sam! He's the one we adore. Sam is the hero next door. If your team's in a mess Sam will dig in and set it free. If you're stuck give him a shout. Sam will always help you out. Hooray for Big Fat Sam! He's always brave and strong. Hooray for Big Fat Sam! And when there's something wrong. He'll always be along To help both you and me Don't you see. He's always on the scene. Big Fat Sam! And his hairs bright and clean. Big fat Sam! You can not ignore, Sam is the hero next door. Everybody knows Big fat Sam. Dressed in his best clothes. Big Fat Sam! Well, we've seen him before. Sam is the hero next door. So move aside, make way. Big Fat Sam! 'Cos he's gonna save the day. Big Fat Sam! He's the one we adore. Sam is the hero next door. He's always on the scene. Big Fat Sam! And his hairs bright and clean. Big fat Sam! You can not ignore, Sam is the hero next door.
Mc Love Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Where have all the good men gone And where are all the gods? Where’s the street-wise Sam To fight the rising odds? Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need I need a hero I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I’m holding out for a hero 'till the morning light He’s gotta be sure And it’s gotta be soon And he’s gotta be larger than life Larger than life Its just like Sam Allardyce
waggy Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 your living in cloud cuckoo land if you think bfs would come to ewood
tony gale's mic Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 your living in cloud cuckoo land if you think bfs would come to ewood You're not even on this planet if you think Ince should have stayed at Rovers (I use the past tense as it appears he's been sacked and we're waiting for an announcement). He'd prefer Sunderland but they're not going to appoint him. Bottom line is he really wants to get back in a job. I don't think he'll be our next manager though, our board are too stupid to see the obvious.
Mc Love Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Club has announced Sam is in charge, just kidding!
colbert Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Club has announced Sam is in charge, just kidding! Hold that thought, Paul ince has just been sacked!
T4E Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 your living in cloud cuckoo land if you think bfs would come to ewood Just like we were living in cloud cuckoo land thinking that Paul Ince was going to be sacked before the Summer.
Blackburn Ender Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 If it's BFS, he'll expect and be given at least a 3 year contract and, if he keeps us up, then that's yer football for the next 3 seasons. I'm not getting excited by that prospect, I can tell you.

I'm not getting excited by that prospect, I can tell you. Because we played like Brazil '70 under Hughes right? If we get BFS in (and I don't think we will), I'm looking forward to the very realistic prospect of top 10 finishes and maybe European football at Ewood again. If Sam could do it with Bolton, and his protége Phil Brown looks like doing it at Hull, there's no reason why Sam can't do it here either.

Maybe it was Phil Brown who was the brain behind the Bolton operation too? Brown comes across very well in the interviews I've read.

Maybe it was Phil Brown who was the brain behind the Bolton operation too? Brown comes across very well in the interviews I've read. or maybe it was Spragia.

Brown comes across very well in the interviews I've read. Anything to discredit Allardyce... Brown has said he learned his management from Sam, plus I think Allardyce had another couple of years at the club after Brown left.
