While we are in an enviable position, it should be remembered that we have a very tough run of games on the horizon. While we won't be in a relegation scrap, we shouldn't get too excited either, because I don't think we'll be sitting any higher than 12th - 14th come May.

I would take that, then build on it next year.

So does anyone know why Sam ignored Chimbonda on the bench and stuck a midfielder in at Centre Back?

Because Andrews slotted into centre back without being asked to, Sam decided to keep him there. Also, whilst discussing changes on the bench, Bobby Mimms mentioned that he used to play at centre back from his Wolves days.

Bobby said he'd played there a couple of times for Wolves. He wasn't a regular in that position.

Allardyce has stripped this football club of the things we have always been able to latch on to. Flair. Courage. Belief. Grit. Expectation. Pride.

I would take any other current PL manager over him, bar his own protegee Phil Brown, and the dismal Megson.

Allardyce has stripped this football club of flair, courage, belief, grit, expectation, pride. laugh.gif

In view of the brilliant job the manager is doing in difficult circumstances at Ewood, hands up all those who agree with the above.

Easy to trawl other's posting history and then pull them apart with the benefit of hindsight. Could easily do the same with some of the garbage you've posted on here about Andrews.

The most important turn around recently for me, especially ahead of the summer, is that Allardyce's signings are starting to do the business.

Kalinic is obviously the most important one due to the outlay shelled on him, and though I don't rate N'Zonzi quite as highly as some around here, he will certainly go down as a successful signing.

Hopefully Salgado can continue to prove his worth, and Diouf can maintain recent good form. Givet should now be given a run at centre half, a position in which I personally feel he is one of the best in the league, and over the next few weeks Basturk should enter the fold.

I feel all this is very important, as we know the board are very cautious with the clubs money, so Allardyce had to prove he was trust worthy in the market, and hopefully now we will see ALL possible loose funds released for him, as I can't help feel that so far money has been held back.

Whilst its good to finally see one or two coming more to the fore, I don't believe money has been held back.

I was lead to believe as opposed to decreasing the wage bill as the club wanted by £5million we had actually increased it. Its just not JW's style to hold back funds, we got in two prior to Benni leaving and they have publicly stated that his fee is still there. We just don't have any, we don't generate any, so pound-shop style bargains it is.

We have to hope that we haven't spunked the increased TV money for next season already, so we can go out and sign a top quality player or two in the summer without selling.

Why has it taken you 114 days to think up a retort? You were only banned for 2 months so it can't be that.

I see the armchair fans are getting their excuses in early.

Meanwhile the real supporters are preparing to brave the weather and get out and support their team.

Tris where did you find that? Has there a messageboard cabal been formed somewhere?

I knew Jim had gone quiet for a time and guessed as much, but I can never seem to find out stuff like that on here.

Poor effort but then it is early in the day.

"Would anyone pick him for the Bolton match"??

By the way ... whilst Andrews was in your happy "out of favour" period, Rovers had a shocking run of no wins in ~10 games. Before he was dropped we picked up points, and now he's back, more wins and more points. Even when your hated hero is forced to fill in at centre half.

Much, much better after your usual late-night skinful.

Memo to self: must look through the Allardyce and Ince threads for your hilarious statements attacking the former while singing the praises of the latter.

Addendum to memo: can't be arsed because the clown will repeat his tripe sooner or later. laugh.gif

Sam will be on talksport shortly, for those interested.

Did he say anything of interest?

Can we get this thread back on topic please... it's supposed to be about Sam Allardyce and last I heard he spoke perfectly good English

<Cough!>

He's come in for flak on here numerous times for things he's said, where the precise meaning of what he's trying to convey has been lost as he's mangled his words.

He spoke about the game, pretty much the same as on the BBC etc. They asked him more about Pompey, he said that he didn't want to see them go under.

Was rather brief if I'm honest, he sounded in good spirits and said we could now focus upwards again.

A good article in the Times today from Keith Hackett which refers to his "discussions" with Alex Ferguson and Sam. He rates them both highly despite their reputations. Reveals that Sam introduced him to Prozone and to a more professional approach to football. His analysis of matches is thorough and this has influenced Hackett`s work at promoting the standards of referees. I think we are fortunate to have this guy as our manager and I have every faith in him to restore the fortunes of the club in the future.
