We won our last game 47er?

As for the burnley game, if we go over there have a go I'll not be slamming the manager, but if go over there and roll over like so many times in the past year I'll be hammering Allardyce again.

And if we win you'll come on and tell us ''So we win away to a team in the bottom three and some people try and pretend the garden is all rosy blah blah blah, me and 20 mates are all considering not going next season blah, blah, blah...."

I guess you've not had much experience of beating Burnley, but……..

I'LL BE IN A STATE OF COMPLETE EXSTACY SHOULD THIS HAPPEN, AND WON’T BE CRITISIZING THE MANAGER IN ANY SHAPE WAY OR FORM FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS I’D SAY.

Hope I’ve cleared that one up :tu:

Im pretty content with Sam and what he's done.simply cos few managers can achieve anything with no money..,but Hughes for me was the one who could guarentee our future with bargain buys we can then sell for millions..For me its about hope and being a contender..Some clubs would love our problems

So the last point we took from the big 4 away was 2007?? So does that mean Hughes had a season of defeats too??

Sam is building us bit by bit....it looked like he had lost the dressing room at City, but somehow he got them back onside - he has now got 2 of our most important players for the future re-signed (Dunn & Hoilett) and he has done some excellent business in the transfer market...

Lets re-assess his position in the summer, based on where we finish compared to last season, and also compare the 2 records.

8 clean sheets in the last 17 too - which isnt bad for such a sh!t team of boring Zzzzzam football!

Not having a go at your here Gav, but plenty of the people who put themselves against Allardyce from the start were complaining about the 3-2 win at home, saying they weren't happy with the approach after going 3-1 up.

I have no idea if there is any truth in this or not, I do remember someone saying similar back in Jan (maybe nicko that Sam would retire from management at the end of the season). anyway from another MB.

The chairman of the LMA is retiring and Sam has been lined up as his replacement, also that Curbishley has been seen at Ewood a few times recently.

Anyone else no anything on this rumor.

I do respect him for the job he’s doing down at Ewood, even though the football is poor to watch. I think his dealing in the transfer market have so far been extremely good……

This pretty much sums up how I feel too. I think he is doing a good job, because the table shows that we look like we're going to stay up comfortably and ultimately that is his job remit. However, due to the style of football we play, I no longer enjoy going to Ewood - and that's disappointing as I used to schedule pretty much everything around Rovers, making sure I could get to every game.

Next season I won't be renewing my ST (first time in over 20 years, despite living over half of them a minimum of an hour and a half drive from Ewood) - but as people keep telling me it's all about the results, so I can get the same level of enjoyment as now by just checking the full times!

I was one of those - obviously I was delighted we won, but wasn't happy that the message given to the players at half-time was 'as long as they don't score, we win' - hardly inspiring stuff is it?

Yes I'm sure that's all that was said.

Or perhaps it was more 'if they don't score we win, so keep it tight and gaps will appear at their end and we can score more etc etc."

But even if it was, it doesn't make for ammunition to criticise the manager does it?

Don't think Chimbonda was £3m?

Me neither, I thought he was half that.

Hughesy sam does not have that for a matter of fact he needs to sell this summer in order to buy

I don't think that is 'a matter of fact'? According to JW, as long as we don't finish below the budgeted place, Sam should have the Benni money to spend. I guess any improvements on the budgeted place will also go to him.

Last summer we had to sell to fill holes in the budget...mainly having dropped from 7th the previous year to 15th (best part of £6 million gone there) plus having to fire Ince and his halfwits and bring in a new management team, which was not budgeted for. Thankfully we don't seem like we're going to have any nasty surprises this year.

How do you know that's what was said for certain? Any manager is going to talk about keeping it tight if they're winning at half time. For all the criticisms you can level at Sam, I don't think motivating us when playing at home is one of them.

I no for a fact that we need to sell atleast 1 palyer this window to balance books

After the match Sam said that he 'just' told the players that as long as they don't score, we win. I don't know what else was said, but I do know that this was said.

Personally I want my manager to inspire the players, and at half-time in that game we had all the momentum - the message should have been 'let's go for the throat - keep the pressure on them, as well as making sure that we keep our discipline, because one more goal will completely kill them off'.

By dropping deep and our main objective being stopping them from scoring, we allowed them back in the game, and had the game gone for another 10 mins, imo, they would have equalised - so, again imo, it is a vaild criticism.

It's like the old adage - play for the draw and you'll likely lose.

Only we've only lost two all season at Ewood, so either your adage is wrong or Sam hasn't been playing for the draw.

The point was that when your sole focus is on stopping the opposition, instead of trying to put pressure on them and attck them, eventually you will probably fail.

So, with regards to the Burnley game (which is what I was talking about), we essentially tried to play for a nil-nil in the second half - we failed, they scored, and imo had the game been 10 mins longer they would have scored again. Now obviously we were already 3-1 up, so in the grand scheme of things maybe it doesn't really matter that we surrendered all the momentum and pressure that we had built up in the first half, maybe it's ok that we finished the game hanging on, backs against the wall, in a game that we should have been out of sight in - I don't know.

After all, it's only the result that counts right? That's why, as I've already said, next season I'll just check the full time result - that way I can still enjoy the result (providing we win, of course) without having to freeze my ass off watching paint dry for 90 minutes.

You can't give Sam the credit for us being in the positive with regard to transfer money since the big outgoings (Santa Cruz and Warnock) were Hughes' signings, not his.

However, he has brought in some potential sell-on material in Kalinic and N'Zonzi. Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is about N'Zonzi, but my opinion on that doesn't really matter as long as someone comes along and offers big bucks for him. Kalinic is a star in the making though. We really need to hold onto him for as long as possible...

I'm not sure if I was in that camp, I was just over the moon we beat them, not been as happy for ages in terms of football.

I think in some cases because I back certain fellow posters on this site, I get grouped with comments made by them, and not actual comments I make.

Comes with the territory I guess.

You cleared up the Burnley one yes, but you're yet to give a half decent reason for why you're still wanting a change in management.

Not sure i've asked for a change in management? not recently any way?
