This pretty much sums up how I feel too. I think he is doing a good job, because the table shows that we look like we're going to stay up comfortably and ultimately that is his job remit. However, due to the style of football we play, I no longer enjoy going to Ewood - and that's disappointing as I used to schedule pretty much everything around Rovers, making sure I could get to every game.

Next season I won't be renewing my ST (first time in over 20 years, despite living over half of them a minimum of an hour and a half drive from Ewood) - but as people keep telling me it's all about the results, so I can get the same level of enjoyment as now by just checking the full times!

Says it all for me, another season ticket holder of many years standing that won't be renewing. I’m not throwing this in as an example to all, or trying to back-up my arguments, I’m just concerned that more and more people are turning off to Rovers, and that’s coincided with Allardyces appointment at Ewood.

The point was that when your sole focus is on stopping the opposition, instead of trying to put pressure on them and attck them, eventually you will probably fail.

It might just be me, but doesn't every manager seem to comment on the adage that 'the basis for the win is a clean sheet' and therefore stopping the opposition? Either you know better than most professional managers in world football or I've missed your point. I apologise if it is the latter.

Rather a few hundred than the thousands who wouldn't if we went down.

Not a slight at you, just a bit of an alternative perspective to your argument.

It's also coincided with rovers becoming a selling club Gav.

TBH, it's a bit of both. Selling your best players, resulting in poorer performances [or should I say lack of players with flair]? and Allardyce's reputation.

We also have to remember that quite a few of the new fans only came aboard because of the ST prices. Were they all die hard fans Gav? Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect losing some of those fans - no matter who was the manager?

So the last point we took from the big 4 away was 2007?? So does that mean Hughes had a season of defeats too??

Sam is building us bit by bit....it looked like he had lost the dressing room at City, but somehow he got them back onside - he has now got 2 of our most important players for the future re-signed (Dunn & Hoilett) and he has done some excellent business in the transfer market...

Lets re-assess his position in the summer, based on where we finish compared to last season, and also compare the 2 records.

8 clean sheets in the last 17 too - which isnt bad for such a sh!t team of boring Zzzzzam football!

:rover: yet you come on here and say he has 2 games to save himself, his football is worse than wimbledons and look were they ended up :brfcsmilie:

Yes. That was when we thought we were ACTUALLY in trouble because of Allardyce. You just don't like the man. And for no good reason either. I didn't really want him here and considered him the better evil over Ince. Sam has very much won me over. Even more so lately.

Gav, if DaveyB and all the others like him want to sling their hook then good riddance. I don't care how long he's had a season ticket holder or who he is, or what his life's been like, or what pain he's feeling, he's clearly no longer a supporter so he should stop posting on here and let the rest of us get on with it.

Just as a new manager builds his team and sheds the lightweight players so it is with dipsy supporters, if your time's up thanks for the memories now shut the fudge up and ship out. I've got some supporting to do and I don't want to be forced to keep listening to the enemy within thank you.

Sam's here, he's doing a good job. If you don't like it push off BUT JUST STOP TELLING US ABOUT IT, this is a supporters internet site - it says so on the strap line!

whilst i'm not allardyce's biggest fan, there are two things that i can't understand people keep bringing up.

1. he had two games to save his job. so? he got through the tough times, saved his job and has taken us to safety. if it was true he was told what was required and delivered. what is wrong with that? ferguson almost got sacked at united in the early years. obviously i'm not saying we are going to follow a similar path but it certainly shows good can come from these situations.

2. us being a selling club. we've always been a selling club. i can't think of many players who have played amazing for rovers for longer than a season who haven't moved on, other than tugay (and had he been about 6 years younger someone would have probably tested us with a bid). it is hardly a new phenomenon. there have been 15 years of high profile sales that i can remember and no doubt others can point out examples further back in time when we were in the lower divisions.

questioning his style of play is more understandable (but difficult at a time when they are proving successful), though we are incorporating long ball with some tidy stuff so even that is harsh at the moment.

Completely regarding the selling club Den, but as for the supporters I know, all die hard, been going since before the Walker revolution.

That’s why I’m concerned.

What would you like to discuss instead? flower arranging maybe?

If Sam is good enough for King Kenny then he should be good enough for you lot!

King Kenny rates Big Sam

Or would anyone care to disagree with the "expert" who took us to the title?

Kenny knows as much about the modern day Blackburn Rovers, as I do about molecular phylogenetics and evolution.

He still holds God like status though.

Perhaps I should re-phrase that...would anyone care to disagree in the form of an intelligent, thought-provoking response?

Let's just say for a minute that one of the most legendary figures in the game, as both a player and a manager, is wrong about Big Sam deserving praise for a job well done, what exactly do the Sam doubters realistically expect him to do to earn such an accolade?

We all know that unless you have a 7 or even 8 figure transfer budget you cannot play a beautiful passing game every week, AND survive relegation, (unless someone would like to provide an example of a team that has consistently done this) so pray tell messageboard experts who know more than the guys earning millions...

It stopped being a 'discussion' months ago, it's now just a never ending caustic drip drip of pointless negativity. I heard you the first time, I got it, stop keep telling me the same sh!t over and over. I know you're not happy.

I respect yours and everyone elses right to not renew their season ticket, to stop supporting the club, to dis Sam, to yearn for the good old days but for Gods sake do it somewhere else - perhaps the Erstwhile BRFC Former Supporters Internet Site - or just the good home for the terminally depressed - but enough already with the negative sh!t.

I like most on here (including you Hughesy ;) ) thought his time was almost up around the City game and I wouldn't have been sad to see him go.

Credit where it's due though recently he has taken some bold decisions re team and tactics and it seems to be paying off in full.

The football still isn't great at times but there's at least rays of hope at the minute and we are playing some football.

Let's hope we can keep it up.

Correct - awful run of form, and lots of rumours around the dressing room kick-off etc..At that stage 2 more games without a win and I think he would of gone...however from that point forward he got a reaction from his players & now he has saved his bacon.....Since that point our style of football has changed, our tactics have taken an improved look & players such as Kalinic, Olsson & MGP have all really started to shine! :brfc:
