when big sam went for the england job, he wowed the slection panel during his interview with his presentation.

the bit where he fell down, was that he was so vocal on the changes needed to the grassroots of the game if the england team were to propser in future generations. he said that we were doomed if we didn't make fundamental changes - this stopped him from getting the job.

the guy knows exactly what he's doing.

His knowledge of the league is fantastic

He gets the best out of players

He knows how to create and them against us atmosphere that works so well with small clubs

He can spot a bargain

He can make us hard to beat

In fact - the only negative thing, is that the press labeled his football boring, but that was only ever because he kept upsetting the big 4. We always hated the press for a wrongful description of rovers, yet we seem to want to believe them about bolton, despite their fantastic success with him.

Big Sam for me!

Well said AndyC, I completely agree.

Can't see a lot wrong with that post, mate - aside from the odd typo! Spot on assessment.

Best post I've read on here for a few days.

The last point should pinned on this messageboard, the official messageboard and to every lampost in Blackburn. We were stuck with our media label for years after it was justified, and the same happened with Bolton. Yes, in the first few Davies-lone-striker years they played awful stuff (not too different to the beginning of Hughes' reign with us), but when he managed to get players like Okocha, Diouf, Anelka etc. through the door they were no worse to watch than anyone else apart from Arsenal and Man Utd.

The great thing about Allardyce is that he will have a list of targets as long as his arm and, providing we are willing to shell out, a fully researched list of staff he can bring in who he has relationships with, and methods that he wants to use, and fully formed ideas about tactics and formations.

There is no one, literally no one, in world football who will be better prepared to take us on. He knows what lancashire is all about, he knows all our players, he will know our strengths and weaknesses, he knows what is required to sort us out, he works like a maniac.

He will also be desperate to prove that Newcastle was a blip and the FA were fools to turn us down for the England job.

Sure he will play the percentages and we are not going to pass it like Brazil. But on the other hand that is precisely what we need right now.

I am certian that as he looks at our team he will have identified how he can fit our team together to suit his style of play.

Cruz - up front or as the right forward in a three

Dunn, Tugay, Andrews and Carlos - to vie it out for the creator spot behind the central striker (the Okacha/Nolan position)

Pedersen/Treacy - left forward supporting the striker, decent in the air for the high sweeping cross balls. Much like Gianpokkolus (however you spell it).

Grella, Mokoena, Vogel - to split the two holding roles in front of the defence.

I wouldn't be suprised (assuming of course we get him...) that we would go for a pacy striker or a big quality centre forward in Jan who can will balls in the air, and a right winger. He will probably look at the defence too. I would be worrying if I was Nelsen as his form has been so poor he could be deposed. Roberts, McCarthy and Derbs may all struggle to fit the BFS style. Apart from that he already has the raw materials to get the team playing his way.

I just hope Sunderland don't come in as otherwise it seems nailed on, provided the Trust comes up with the funds. No brainer.

Also, although a bit over the hill, he got Mario Jardel and Jared Borgetti to sign for them and although they didnt set the place alight, they were definitely in the 'flair player' category. Not forgetting Ben Haim at an absolute snip, proving he can spot a player with potential.

I was in the no to BFS camp in the summer but i've seen the light!

To me he was the obvious candidate in the Summer, and to a blind man on a galloping horse he is the obvious candidate now.

The only slight nagging doubts are the lack of a right hand man now Brown and Lee are in comfy jobs, and his reluctance to play first choice xi's in the cup competitions.

Sam will be sorted and will already have sounded out a number two, he really is thorough, he will have evaluated our weaknesses already and know just what to work on and he will get back to the dynamic training approach which was embraced by Sparky.

Make no mistake about it, he may have a large backroom team but he was the innovator of sports science techniques in the Premiership!!

Dont discount Campo as his number two either!!

Joey

Lets be rational about team selection in our current predicament.

SHOULD Sam take the job then its the end for Andrews and Carlos, they will not figure in his selection.

From the back, he will sort out issues with the central defenders. Out will go Nelsen and in will come Ooijer. So, Sam would probably see Samba and Ooijer as the rocks on which to build.

The full backs will be Simpson and Warnock. I would further suggets that Simpson may well find himself under threat as HUNT from BWFC becomes a right back target.

Midfield will see Emerton, Tugay, Dunn and MGP take shape to be complemented by Vogel and Grella. Those players are the ones I will suggest that SAM would concentrate on as being the work hub of the team. A target undoubtedly will be NOLAn to supplement this lot.

Up front, I can see Sam going with RSC (Until he leaves) along with Benni and Roberts, once RSC moves on then Sir Matty D supplementing them.

BREAKING NEWS SAM GRTS THE JOB

My gut feeling is Allardyce is going to turn us down for a number of reasons...the main one being that we represent an identical challenge to the one he faced at Bolton, I think he'll want to do something different.

The good thing he has in his favour is that he can only improve us. Even Mike Bassett couldnt make us any more of a shambles than at present. If he joined us in the summer, he would've been judged on what Hughes achieved. Now he's onto a winner and hopefully, our fans will give him as much support as possible. This could all be a blessing!
