Thank God I'm never in a room watching a match with Abbey and Waggy. The only difference, if reputation is to be believed, is that one has a lower blood-alcohol level.

Sam was the best we could get when Ince did his 'best'. And if we did sack him after he saved us, who the hell would see Rovers as a good place to seek employment? QPR are not exactly flying.

Everyone has a right to voice their own opinion.

Regardless of what it is and what its based on, people are unique and consequently different. If chastising them and throwing inane insults is the way forward then I for one will be out of the UK quicker than a bullet from a gun.

Welcome to the wonderful UK where difference and non-conformity is beaten with a stick.

Indeed, and Billy was just voicing his. I bet he doesn't do it AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN :brfc: on topic after topic though. Personally I have both on ignore, but as this fails to work with quotes it's a little bit pointless.

Zzzzam stfu for once...gobbing off about winding the waiter up..ffs we lost so just shut up.....in telewag

He's only defending himself, his players and the club from Benitez's stupid accusations. Quite truthfully he has expensively assembled the worst and most unattractive Liverpool team in my memory. Without Torres who imo is 90% likely to be off in the summer it's kind to say they are ordinary.

It's better to stand up as a leader than to give an ingratiating smile and give way like the last clown of a manager.

I'd have expected Mark Hughes and KMD to have reacted exactly the same as Sam Allardyce Abbey..... wouldn't you?

:D

Have you seen Arnie and Danny De Vito in 'Twins' Billy?

So do you want us to sack Allardyce and replace him with someone else then if you hate him that much?!

I have watched football all my life and do recall giving keepers a right go if their kicks did not clear the half. It doesn't matter what level you play the game at, defending in the the other team's half was the key. Make them turn it over in their own half and capitalize on their mistake. It's also how pressure was applied. The continental game is in the supremacy primarily because FIFA has made it illegal to tackle. They will destroy the proper game. Look at the tackle made in Den's clip from the old Burnley game. The winger would have been rolling around ,players demanding the ref take severe action and the manager and fans screaming for banishment of the defender. Instead the winger and defender get up and a corner was awarded. The game nowadays promotes cheats, who feign injury, throw elbows on the pretext of gaining more height...tell that to the great centre forwards and centre halves of yester year who knew how to head a ball. I haven't seen a true menace in the air for years...Samba is useless in the air, as an example. We look everywhere but in England for players. Well the likes of Andy McEvoy, Keith Newton, Bryan Douglas, and Mike England graced Ewood with their presence and played the game as well if not better than the so called superstars of today. They were not one offs but surrounded each week by players of the highest calibre. The EPL is a massive business that panders to the whims of its playboy athletes and fans are even worse in their hysteria about their teams. Sam Allardyce is well in tune with what it takes to keep a team in the EPL and thus guarantee himself the rewards and the fans get what they deserve. The Football Association is in dissolution and the carpetbaggers have checked in.

I get more pleasure watching the lower leagues play blood and guts football. Sorry about the rant.

Quality post. I agree 100%

Good idea Abbey please do unless you have something worthwhile to say.

As for the article - I dont see anything wrong with it, is he not correct when he says losing £33m worth of players + older players is difficult - yet we still sit 12th, not 20th like last season.....

If Sam can continue to spot bargains and keep progressing our youth then we should be in very good shape in the next few years!

He's got a point though. I thought this Benitez v Allardyce thing was stupid in the build-up, but it is even stupider after the fact. Let it go and wait until we next play them. Fact of the matter is they won, so Allardyce can't say too much (even if we did play well). I'd much rather he focused on upcoming fixtures and signing players rather than developing personal spitting matches. Don't see why Benitez doesn't just turn around and use the old Souness "show us your medals".

If Allardyce was able to spend hundreds of millions I'm sure he could at least match the whopping two trophies Benitez has managed whilst in England.

He had his 'big club' chance. The fans hated the football (OK so they are somewhat more hysterical than most).

His football is effective (undoubted) but its not attractive and top, top players would not want to play that way week in week out.

He will never be in charge of a big club because he is a one trick Pony.

They never gave him a chance - they were 7th when he left - now look at them!

Thats untrue

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2288460/Harry-Redknapp-next-in-line-for-Newcastle-job.html

Allardyce was regarded as the man to bring glory back to Tyneside, but his signings have been disappointing and just seven Premier League wins this season have cost him his job. Newcastle are 11th

yes it make him look a genius after getting beat doesn't it.

I do understand where Abbey is coming from with this one. While I find Sam's comments pretty amusing, he looks a bit stupid for trying to celebrate a 'personal victory' over Rafa after his side lost on the pitch. If he'd have won or got at least a point, THEN he would have the right to be smug.

Sam has every right to defend his team and his tactics after Benitez's smear campaign. I think Sam's old and wise enough not to let it interfere with the day to day running of the club, Eddie.

He isn't defending the team, fact of the matter is he is defending himself and that is why he is putting so much effort in. He just shouldn't get involved in this sort of argument, he started it anyway and he's the one trying to keep it going. Just looks like he enjoys making the papers.

I'm sure this is about Sam's ego trip more than anything else, but his tactics and his methods are still representative of our team.

It's his prerogative to say whatever he wants. Souness and Hughes were both fond of speaking their minds, and it often helped stir a siege mentality at the club. Let him and Rafa have their jousting match, when all's said and done it's a storm in a teacup.

The fans hated the football - your guess?

No 'the fans hated the football' makes it anybodies guess. :)

I'm at the match most alternate weeks, so the total will prob be many more, but 4 times this season I've listened to a Lpool commentary on 5Live and heard various commentators / pundits reporting that the game was the worst Premier League game that they had seen all season. I'll even give you the matches..... Lpool v City, Stoke v Lpool, Villa v Lpool and City v Lpool.

So what's your guess Oscar?
