Next season is key.... this is a big summer.

We have already shifted 1 fat donkey in Benni, saving us a nice big chunk of cash...next up Reid is out of contract so that could be another 30k shaved off the budget. We have tied up the contract of Dunn & Hoilett too so that saves time in the summer.

Another key to our summer is keeping 1 man - SAMBA!

:rover: is that the benni you kept saying was the best striker we had?as for samba no big loss :brfc:

In terms of finding the net, Benni was - however he had no motivation and therefore was of no use to us. He has since moved on and done very little their either - World Cup motivation my arse!

I wonder if Sam Allardyce have been advocating and praising 4-5-1 saying its the only way forward is to trick Laws into setting up against this tactic only to see us coming racing out 4-4-2 to smash the dingles!

What have you been smoking? :)

....and that I find absolutely disgusting, to treat the fans that follow the club away from with such contempt is criminal.

Gav.... I've already pointed out on here recently that the bottom 11 clubs have averaged only 1.5 away wins each. No excuse maybe but it certainly give our poor away form some perspective which you would do well to note.

John Williams and the board will be delighted with Sam, he had the brief to keep us in the premiership and he has delivered, not only that, we are seeing a younger side with blends of experience who can only get better and all that at a cost of -£15,000,000

Name me another manager who could give us that without continually moaning about lack of funds?

Sam just gets on with it.

Finally, the 4 - 5 - 1 debate, like it or not, Sam is correct, even Chelsea play 4 - 5 - 1

so do ManU, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City etc. they just have more money and quality in certain areas.

If we can add a prolific goalscorer or a top midfielder to create things and a pacy wide man, who knows how far we could go!!

PS: I would love to see fast flowing passing football, but we havent got the personel to do that and we havent got time to risk it either, it has to be done gradually or West Brom, Burnley etc come to mind of those who tried and failed.

So, according to Sam, 4-5-1 is outdated. Well, if that is the case, it has gone past its sell-by date almost overnight. In the first part of the season he was quoted several times as saying he brought in Nico and Franco as he needed 4 strikers to play 4-4-2, and that he only 'discovered' 4-5-1 when Dunny played there in the Peterborough cup tie.

No he said he planned on playing 2 strikers, not necessarily in a rigid 4-4-2 like you state...

Sam moans about the lack of funds more than any manager I've ever known! He never misses an opportunity to mention the clubs finances!

Isn't he putting pressure on the Board to release more funding?

What was the bet again? Top 10?

and GAV - you must admit, you seem to of mellowed towards him in the past few weeks.

Better than that,between 8th and 12th i believe!

On a more serious note I think Big Sam has done an excellent job for Rovers this season,if we can sort out the away form for next season we should have a real chance of finishing in the top 10 and hopefully a stab at one of the cups.

I just hope the board carry on trying to attract more supporters in the manner that they have done in the last couple of seasons with their pricing initiatives.Does anybody know when details of season ticket prices will be released?

Doesn't Dean like giving out red cards. I'd rather have players left on the pitch and able to play in upcoming games, so while i want us to play hard it's got to be, as our manager said, controlled aggression and no silly pens or red cards, by us at least - they can collect as many reds as they want.

Top half, miles and miles away from relegation, double over local rivals.

Thread over.

Our style of play will always remain open to debate, but there's no question Sam has done a first-class job. Mid-table security and avoided a massive bananaskin today. Lovely stuff.

Oh, and his OTT triumphant 'Me I'm a Hero' pose at the end makes me like him even more. Especially after such a scrappy win (Even though we should have buried them).

He's practically Jose Mourinho, just a bit fatter.

Sam got it spot on today, givet and Roberts both came in and were superb IMO not a game for niko and pushing ollson back to lw worked a treat.

Now we have a new target this season - to stay top half. If we finish 10th this season then that would be brilliant. Remember Mark Hughes' achievements came without City being so rich and without Spurs being such a force.

Coincided perfectly with Kalinic replacing Di Santo imo.

Wow, didn't expect us to be that high. Shows what a good job Allardyce has done.

Enjoy it for the next 40 minutes or so- Liverpool are going past us at a canter.

Surprised to see Wolves and Brum so low- got the impression they were having good runs whilst Sunderland are doing better than I thought.

But no taking away from Sam the fact that he turned round a disastrous run and the target of getting 50 points is looking very realistic indeed.

Nice to get past 40 points with 6 games left.

Agreed. And it gives hope of a truly excellent next season.

Your moods swung around again I see philip. SA's now being viewed in a positive light by you it seems. However we can all rest assured that 3 defeats on the spin and you'll have him down as too bad to burn again.
