It'll have worked if I've stopped his infantile postings.

I seem to have stopped yours too btw regarding the myths surrounding old Golden Balls. Nice to see that you have taken my opinion about his lack of all round ability on board. ;)

You obviously haven't been on that thread for a while, my last contribution is a quip aimed at you.

Yet more infantile comment shillitoe. You and waggy have much in common. Lots of spirit but precious little intellect.

By reducing it to a personal attack your inability to counter my opinion on David Beckham simply illustrates the poverty of your original reasoning.

Such a hypocrite.

My argument with Beckham needed not to go any further than when Sir Alex picked him week after week.

I guess all the caps, trophies, transfer fees etc added nothing but weight to what is a pretty watertight argument.

However, you pointing out something a raging alcoholic who never stayed in the game beyond playing said, and thought you'd 'won the argument.'

'Infantile,' was it?

I've never hid the fact that after the city game I thought it wasgame over for Sam and rightly so. However he has turned it around and made us look like a team again and long may I continue.

I'm still not a fan of our football sometimes but it's not all the time now at least.

Things are looking so much brighter than six months ago now

Sam has deservedly earned the plaudits recently but today was a disgrace. His customary lack of ambition was put into stark perspective against the rock-bottom, down to ten, second string of Pompey. Bringing Grella on well ahead of Kalinic & Hoilett was astonishing, as was persisting with Diouf, Pedersen and Roberts, who have all proven they cannot perform on a consistent basis. There was really no excuse for today's result.

Today's result means that we now have more points with 5 games still to go than we did last season. Add in a cup semi-final and having to make millions for the club from transfers and nobody in their right mind could suggest Sam has not been a successful appointment in his 18 months here.

Despite that, he can be frustrating. The main problem is our midfield. Are N'zonzi and Dunn good enough as a central two to stop us getting overrun? Dunn has been shunted aside many times by previous managers.

The fact that Sam has got us even in the mix for a top half finish when we have the woefully inconsistent/permanently injured/permanently crap likes of Grella, Diouf, Andrews, Roberts, MGP and Emerton as key members of our side-squad speaks volumes.

Today was a disappointment but a host of chances were spurned.

We have been on a good run of results so we shouldn't be tearing our hair out over a failure to win away from home.

1 Draw & now we will have to listen to the normal "sack Sam" brigade!

Let's not blame the manager for his team not taking thier chances...today the ball simply wasn't for going in!

And if it was 'for going in' would you have praised the team and manager?

It was a poor showing and a poor result today, nothing more nothing less. Calling for Sam's head is absurd, but so is shielding him from any criticism.

It was disappointing but still, with our away form, 4 points from two games is a decent enough return.

Should have been more but, well, we are Rovers after all! Never Ones to make life easy for ourselves, eh?!?

Posted

It may well yet produce a big plus for Rovers if they could remain unbeaten away from home in the last 2 away games at Wolves and Villa.

Everyone will expect us to lose versus arsenal and manure and maybe even everton and those 3 ganes will be tough enough.

Sam is taking us forwards that has to be positive.

Sam going on about a lack of goalscorer yet again. Most of the chances we create aren't clear cut score or miss chances. We haven't had that ability to create those type of chances since we sold Bentley. A Defoe or a Bent, goalscorers that will put the ball in the back of the net with decent service would struggle to score goals in this side.

A proven goalscorer would be nice Sam but you need to bring someone in the summer to create those chances.

Totally disagree with that comment. I thought Sam got his tactics spot on today and we created a host of chances. It's a long time since I have seen us dominate a game like we did today. A combination of good goalkeeping, the woodwork and poor finishing kept us out. It became increasingly difficult during the second half because of the amount of water that was settling on the pitch with the heavy rain. When Portsmouth went down to ten men he introduced the pace of Hoilett on the right and with Olsson on the left we certainly got behind the defence. Unfortunately, we simply couldn't get the ball in the net. It was simply one of those days and really can't see what more Sam could have done to get a result.

It certainly doesn't help. Niko might not be setting the prem alight in his first season but he looks more of a goal threat than Roberts and that's with hardly any support.

Shearer wouldn't score in this side.

Poor performance by the manager? Really? Was it him who hit the woodwork three times then?

This is Blackburn not Melchester! If you were an arsenal fan you would have been baying for Wengers blood in midweek, if you were a man u fan then Fergy would be too bad to burn tonight and if you wwere a Burnley fan then you'd be following Mr and Mrs Laws into the chippy with a zippo in your hand this evening.

'Calling for Sam's head' might be absurd but I doubt it will stop you (and many others unfortunately) come the time that we lose two matches on the trot. <_<

Either wait until he has his own squad at his disposal rather than managing somebody elses left over players or better for all if you go and support a top 3 team. It's prob what you really want.

You'll never be happy until hes gone!! No doubt on football manager we won the game 2-0 but games are never that clear cut are they!! Hes got us to mid table with mediocore players as you put it but in my opinion as a fan whos seen the @#/? and the glory days i will take where we are today as 3 months ago our existance was called into question if we ever went down!! Accept our club for what it is now and not 15 years ago!!

agree completely, a few inches to the left and it would have been a 2-0 win, sometimes it just doesnt come off

Some people really need to get off their high horses! Does it make you better people if you never criticize anything the manager does?

I doubt anyone is genuinely calling for Sam's head, but he screwed up today. Three points were there for the taking against a very poor, injury ravaged Pompey side who had been reduced to ten men. Yet he waited until the 80th minute to bring on a second striker. It's these overly negative tactics which seem to irk people more than anything else.

Tell me, when you're old and wrinkly, can't control your bladder and can barely wipe your own arse anymore, what are you going to tell your grandkids? Will it it be of the days where we avoided relegation, played hoof-ball percentage football, made loads of money and generally strove for mediocrity?

I'm afraid under Sam, those are the only stories we'll have to tell...

Can't agree with your point on chances - as a team, we have missed plenty of good chances this season.

ESPN earlier in the season put together a little cameo of all the chances we have missed. If you look back, there has been so many miss hits, airshots, scuffs wide, post hit - Roberts, Benni, Kalinic and others all guilty of poor finishing.

Also agree on the service point, our chances/goals mostly come from set pieces/penalties, our use of the ball is poor in the final third but comes down to lack of quality again (not luck).

Thought Sam summed it up well in his post match comments yesterday.

Sam attempted to buy proven strikers last summer remember, Crouch and Darren Bent....

You could do that with every club, though. Arsenal is a perfect example. Could probably put together a long set of clips just on Bendtner's misses - but they get enough chances to finally get some in.

You are a funny bloke Balls.

I won't go into detail about how Sam came in when we 5 points adrift, a year later where are we?

Striving for a top 10 finish.

5 players under 22 in around the first 11.

Reached Semi of a cup.

Attendances are highest they've been for years.

One of the best home records in the league.

Done the above whilst working with -20 million plus budget.

The above was achieved in a YEAR and whilst things are not perfect, can you not see progress?

Rome was not built in a day and this is far from a Sam team at the moment.
