philipl Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 One thing we can be totally certain of, BFS will not be arriving at Ewood as utterly clueless about Premier League players as Ince was. I bet he has put a shopping list to the Board 100 times more sensible and better thought through than Ince ever could.

riverside returns Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Well, just get your self down the road Mr E and watch the six fingered bretheren... Small minded person!!!
super_arran Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Warnock is utter p&nts, but the rest are examples that we have gotten lucky with. However, it can't work every time. And I am quite confident that it wont with this man. BFS as our manager, Robinson at goal, Diouf in attack....Rovers are quickly becoming an assemble of my most hated people in football. you dont think we'll get lucky with Big Sam then? we dont have diouf, it's been a few hours, i doubt he's even thought about who to replace yet. and as for hating rovers....you know where the big red X is in the top right of your screen? press it
Mr. E Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Well, just get your self down the road Mr E and watch the six fingered bretheren... Small minded person!!! As opposed to watching Diouf spitting his way around Ewood Park under BFS's smug face?
robborover Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 And then hopefully people will realize its our own damn fault for picking people who don't care about our club to manage us, and not whoever the poor new manager will be with no resources left to save us. We didn't learn our lesson from Hughes, and now we'll pay for it. Enjoy the slow demise of this club. So Sam has to support Rovers? You just don't like him. Your opinion on Sam has got nothing to do with football.
alexanders Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I have posted exactly why it will be bad for the club even if BFS does good. He'll leave us and we'll be back where we started - going down. And then hopefully people will realize its our own damn fault for picking people who don't care about our club to manage us, and not whoever the poor new manager will be with no resources left to save us. We didn't learn our lesson from Hughes, and now we'll pay for it. Enjoy the slow demise of this club. I undersand the jump ship thing and the reason why Sam quit Bolton was because he wanted to win silverware. But can you please name 1 manager who wouldn't jump ship if a better option came up? I also think that Sam wants to win silverware with us ! Starting with a kick ass victory against bluth spartans and winning FA-cup! I agree with you about Diouf, I don't want that ego around Ewood Park!

greggyk Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 As opposed to watching Diouf spitting his way around Ewood Park under BFS's smug face? mate, it was very much tongue in cheek my pi$$ take of tomorrows papers....................
gazsimm Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Mr E are you on drugs or something pal, You are talking bloody crap.
Nelsonfan Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Right now, I'm happier than I was. Will BFS be a good enough manager for us? Only time will tell, but at least he is not only experienced at this level, but he also has a good knowledge of players out there who are likely targets in January, and without paying over the odds for them either! Will BFS be the best manager to allow us to kick on (once we get out of the relegation battle - which I'm hopeful now we will) - I'm not so sure about that - but right now, I think apart from Alan Curbishley, he was the only other reasonable manager for us to go for.
super_arran Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Mr. E? you seem to dislike him more than most for some reason did Big Sam... A. Steal your wife? B. Wee on your kids? or C. Turn down your advances? Big Fat Sam's blue and white army!

So this is pretty much admitting that "hey, eventually - yes, we're screwed, but at least we might stay up for this season."? I believe Souness would have stayed. He has more ties within Rovers and it wont be easy for him to jump a second time. Allardyce on the other hand most definitely is not staying more than a year or two at Rovers, that much is guaranteed. And when he does,it'll be the same thing all over again.

CrazyIvan Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Right, quick calculation time... Games left = 21 Points available = 63 Big Sams Win/Draw/Loss ratio in the Premier League is 33%/34%/33% Based on those ratios appointing Big Sam should see us get 41 points in total with 21 points in games won, 7 in draws plus the 13 we have already. It'll be interesting to see if that's how it pans out.

Turn down your advances? Big Fat Sam's blue and white army! I just can't stand him. His tactics, his interviews, the clubs he has managed...

I think he wants to get his career back on track and Rovers is a perfect place for him now.He can become a hero saving us from relegation and you have to take into consideration that he was at Bolton for 8 years.
sambo Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Didn't learn from Hughes? A manager who consolidated and got us playing good football and doing well in the league? He might have left but he left us in a good place compared to when he came... so basically our manager has to support us?
mark1875 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 new rovers facebook group for all http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=45157606586
robborover Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I just can't stand him. His tactics, his interviews, the clubs he has managed... And I suppose Paul Ince was about to go on a 15 game winning streak with us? Support the team not the manager.
gazsimm Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I just can't stand him. His tactics, his interviews, the clubs he has managed... so what if he helps us stay up this season i don't bloody care less, now stop coming out with stupid comments "like we are full team of rejects" does that mean you only like Dunny and Matty then you bloody numpty
Mr. E Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Didn't learn from Hughes? A manager who consolidated and got us playing good football and doing well in the league? He might have left but he left us in a good place compared to when he came... so basically our manager has to support us? He knew Friedel and Bentley were leaving, knew that the team was utter pants without them, and jumped ship. Our current situation is not Ince's fault, it is the results of how Hughes left us. Everyone says I'm talking sh*t, but I am willing to bet good money that the same thing will happen again. I don't want it to happen, but it will. People need to wake up and smell reality.
Clitherover Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Excellent news. Done well to appoint (imo) our first choice manager the day after we sacked Ince.
T4E Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 If only I could be bothered to look up some of the summer posts made on here. Welcome and good luck Sam. The second best news of the day - Sillytoe is back! I've missed you.

BrianPotter Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Wow, someone sure has got a dislike for BFS! I must admit, hes not my favourite person but in all honesty I have to say I think that he is the right choice. In an ideal world we would all like a huge name to come in and turn Rovers into a top 4 club overnight but we've got to be realistic. Huge name managers come with huge price tags and very expensive shopping lists, which is way out from what we as a club can offer. Gone are the days when we can work on the money no object basis. BFS has a proven track record of getting results on a restricted budget at the highest level and this is something that we as club need. I would class the ability within our squad as greater than what he had a Bolton, and I just hope he recongnises this and we get the ball down and play a little rather than the more direct approach he used at Bolton. I just hope that at Bolton he used the tools he had to get the best out of them. We've got to get behind BFS and the team now 'cos we simply can't afford for this one to go wrong and we need everybody 100% behind the club.
