HemelRover Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I take that as an admission that you like so many others were wrong? If so nice of you to admit as much. It's a rare quality in these parts. I freely admit he is the right man for the job now, following the Ince debacle, and I do not want him to leave. However, what Im not convinced of is if he was the right man to replace Hughes. Was he the right man to take us forward at that point? We will never know.

thenodrog Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Someone tell me why he can't sign players. That money isn't the board's, it's our extra cash from last season sales. It's there to be spent, takeover or no. Why dont you write and ask? I'm sure that they wont be able to answer and will readily agree to making you a signatory on the club's cheque book.
Brfcrule1 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Because why have this... ...when we can wait for this: RAZAMATAZ! I wish people would grasp this concept If and a big If a takeover happens we will not in the next few years be able to get torres. We will be able to target players in the 9-10M bracket. Much better players than Benjani but as for splashing 30M on a new striker is asking a bit too much too soon, maybe in a few years time. The best if a takeover happens is we might be able to get a striker with the capabilities of a Darren Bent that will probably be the level. Please would people grasp this concept.

Doaksie Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I was under the impression that Sam had rejected the Al Alhy offer a few weeks back. Have things changed since then (i.e. the never ending saga of the take-over, limited transfer funds, not being backed on the Guti deal), and he has now decided to reconsider their lucrative offer?
Mr. E Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 If he actually is speaking with Alhy, we need to get rid of ASAP. This can't be allowed to continue happening.
philipl Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I have a slight suspicion he was being a tad sarcastic Apart from missing the sarcasm, brfcrule1 is also completely at odds with those people who are arguing against me that any purchaser will need to be committing £100m to £200m to the club with no expectation of return if he seriously thinks we are going to be shopping consistently in the £9m to £10m bracket of players after the take-over.
waggy Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 sourpuss went when i was on tour with england, maybe lard@rse will follow,HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN
thenodrog Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 If he actually is speaking with Alhy, we need to get rid of ASAP. This can't be allowed to continue happening. And exactly how would you do that without having to pay his contract up then?
Fife Rover Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 And exactly how would you do that without having to pay his contract up then? Not knowing the terms of his contract it is difficult to tell exactly, but IF sam has been speaking to or negotiating with Al Ahly without the permission of BRFC, then HE is the one who is breaking his contract and putting himself at risk of losing the protection of it's terms and conditions.
unluckymorton Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 sourpuss went when i was on tour with england, maybe lard@rse will follow,HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN Hmmm... The happy days of instability, unsettling the squad, spending money we haven't got and a new rebuilding programme. Sounds great Wag.

Billy Castell Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 If he were to go, and I hope he doesn't, who'd be available to come in? I'd say Brown, Hart, Dowie, O'Leary, Coleman and Curbishley would be the names in the media. None of those are particularly inspiring. If we went for a cheap, leftfield choice, perhaps McDermott (Reading), Sousa (Swansea), O'Driscoll (Doncaster) or Steve Nichol (New England) may be up to the task. All would be a bit of a risk, but they will probably do better than Paul Ince.

PAFELL Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 sourpuss went when i was on tour with england, maybe lard@rse will follow,HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN I cannot understand your hatred of a man who, stopped the rot after Ince, stopped rovers getting relegated, who has got Rovers to 10th in the prem and to a Carling cup semi final, in his first full season. Who has brought into the squad, either via the transfer system or home grown, young players with huge potential. Who has played a role in making it hard for other teams to get a victory at ewood Park - including the so called Top 4. All with little to spend. It really beggars belief your attitude. What would you rather have? a club battling relegation, out of the cups at the first hurdle. No young players being developed at Rovers. Ewood Park being a place where any team that plays there against Rovers would get a victory. I think the question you should really be asking yourself is, ARE YOU REALLY A ROVERS SUPPORTER. Rovers had a successful season last season - yet you are not happy with that. In my opinion what club needs negative supporters like you attending?

Neither can he accept that after years of watching and talking football that his judgement and insight has been proved worthless. In a nutshell Sam Allardyce has sent Waggy from messageboard hero to zero in less than 18 months.
chaddyrovers Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Nicko, if any of the interest takeover groups take over, would they want Big Sam to be manager? or would they want they own manager in?
