Nicko, if any of the interest takeover groups take over, would they want Big Sam to be manager? or would they want they own manager in?

I don't know the answer to that...and neither, I suggest, does anyone at the club.

Another reason why this is all rather turbulent.

YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE BELL-END

No, instead let's be happy that our manager wants to leave us for an Arab club (if true). That's the better attitude.

I'm sorry to say this, but there is a large amount of people on this message board who do not have the slightest ounce of pride or passion about this football club. Honor does not mean a thing to some people. Which is not surprising, as this is what modern football has produced. Shame.

Thanks Nicko. I think the new owner would want his own manager. Now have to wait and see. is Big Sam unhappy at the club? At the lack of transfer fund or not being able to buy players at the moment with the club possiblt being takeover?

That's not what you said in the post he quoted. You said if he's talking to them.

quite clearly if he's there talking to them about becoming their manager, he wants to leave us. Not sure how else this can be looked at?

Could be there for that. maybe just having a week holiday. Maybe he upset about the club not able signing anybody with the takeover.

For any potential new owners.

Sam has to be the best option, at least in the short to mid term.

He's worked well with little financial backing.

Improved the league position.

Buying youth for the future and also giving them the opportunities to flourish and increase their future value.

Why? would you bring in some so called big name who would probably want three times the amount Sam would to spend and take another two seasons to get back to square one.

Any new owner I would have thought, would want stability until they get their feet under the table.

Sam's the man, for know. ;)

Maybe, but even in my first post I clearly meant if he's talking to them in terms of managing their club, which is what was being discussed in the posts above.

Sky are reporting that Hughes has turned down the Al Ahli job.

Now I am worried.

I know he has been speculated with the job already, but you would think Lippi would be a natural choice for them.

And as if Hughes would turn them down. If anything, he's been turned down. There's no way Hughes and his entourage will be hired anywhere else for the money they've been reported to demand than Middle East.

Rovers are in talks about a takeover, rumours of which is that its quite advanced. Sam has already done a very good job here, and given £20m to spend could make a real impact and prove MANY doubters wrong - WHY would he go to Abu Dhabi or wherever to manage?!

Im sorry but it wont happen! Sam is simply trying to squeeze our board for some extra funds.

Doesn't sound like you have anythign to base that on.

After the takeover that may happen (and we don't know how far advanced the talks are), with let's say £20 million (but really who knows how much money they'd give him) he could make a real "impact" (whatever that means, bird poo makes an impact when it hits the pavement) he could prove many of his doubters wrong (because they've all said that he can't finish eighth at a small town team with £20 mill to spend?)

Yeah, given all that, I can see how you can categorically state that he won't go to Al Ahli now that he's perhaps in teh twilight of his career, to be given a seminal project to manage (taking a middle east club and turning them into something well-known and attractive), as well as bucketloads of dosh in his bank account.

Yeah, definitely he'll be staying with us, all the facts to hand point to it being the case. <Cough>.

Or could it possibly be that you're desperate for your hero not to go?

A Bolton supporting mate of mine maintains that Sam always said he'd retire from football in his mid-fifties. Sam may well look on an offer from Al Ahli (if there's even been one) as well-paid semi retirement. He apparently already has property in Dubai. So if you factor in his recent health issues, the fact that a large part of the fanbase don't appreciate his footballing ethos (however effective or successful) and the fact that he has no money to significantly improve the team or feed his ego in attracting players...

...what has he got to stay for?

I cannot believe what I'm reading. What has he got to stay for? Why should he be loyal when the board are not? He's just covering his back? Fans don't appreciate his style? Too many were on his back at the City game?

What???

No.1. Where was Sam before Rovers came along and rescued him from the scrap heap? I remember Sam always being linked and never getting the jobs. We gave him a chance when no-one else would.

No.2. Loyalty well don't we pay him 1.5 million a year? That's plenty of reason to be loyal to us, rovers have always had no money. Or was Sam just another to think he could get blood out of the stone?

No.3. Covering his back? You would never say the same about a player going to spurs for a chat, would you?

No.4. Fans don't like his style? that's always been the case at every club he's managed, he should be broad enough to deal with it by now.

No.5. Fans on his back at the city game, what was our form like? When had we last picked up a point? We were in free-fall, fans have every right to voice their opinion and managers must deal with it.

No.6. As harsh as this my be, Sam does not have a serious heart condition and health issues should be no problem.

He did always say that but it went out the window when he thought he could get the England job or a similar big job. Sam will still be ambitious IMO and Al Ahli will not satisfy his professional ambition. Like you say if he's after a comfy retirement it might do.

You mean compared to all the 'rumours' that he is talking to the arabs etc!? And therefore he will go!? Yeah ok

As for Hero - I couldnt stand Sam prior to joining us (due to his link with Bolton), however he has been fantastic for our club & saved us - Fact...not fiction!

Anybody who prefers not to listen to job offers is foolish in the extreme. There is little loyalty in the work place and even less in football. SA is not from Providence Street as well remember.

The Sun newspaper has stepped up its campaign to oust Fabio Capello by advocating his replacement, Sam Allardyce.

Allardyce has never lost his enthusiasm for managing his country and has done an outstanding job on meagre resources at Blackburn,' the newspaper continues.

'After saving Rovers from relegation in 2009, Big Sam guided the Ewood Park outfit to 10th in the Premier League last season. A close pal said: "Sam was not put off when he didn't get the England job last time and if it became available, he would want it."'

Much pontificating but has anybody asked Mrs Allardyce for her opinions? I would imagine ... but I might be wrong... that she is his first in line for his loyalty.

Rather an irrelevent comment when he would have the pick of the nations finest. The ability to manage on meagre resources is not a job requirement for the England position is it?..........

alternatively most who watched this campaign might say it bloody well is!!!

having just spoken to Mrs Allardyce, she would love to live in Dubai and see more of Sam at home as the pressures would be considerably less over there, he has already been in touch with Stowells of Chelsea to ensure there is a

constant supply of fine reds delivered to his residence!!! <_<

Well, I havent spoken to her of course but thats how my wife would think.

So its OK for Sam to go and speak with another club whilst contracted to us?

If its OK for Sam then its OK for the players. I seem to remember a lot of people getting on Ped's back for listening to what other clubs had to offer him, before signing on with Rovers.

What's the difference?

Big one actually in that Pedersen did nothing wrong as his contract was coming to an end therefore he was entitled to look at and talk to other clubs. Unless we have given our permission then surely our manager cannot talk directly to other clubs. Might sound them out through an intermediary but direct talks?
