Para 3 - If offered the England job or one of the big 4 then he’d leave us otherwise he’ll stay IMO.

So he's staying then. As much chance of me and you being offered those jobs as BFS.

Rem when SA was appointed by Shepherd at NUFC and Ashley breezed in within a few weeks? His tenure was never very strong after that and interference in his management appeared overly invasive as it was obvious that Ashley saw him as Shepherd's man and wanted his own appointment in.

Who'se to say that Allardyce might now be viewing his position at brfc with from a perspective of deja vu given all the takeover rumours? New brooms and all that.

Maj this is hardly worth discussing cos if he gets a much better offer he will be off. It's the industry norm.

Yes, please read my previous posts.

Blackburn Rovers are nothing like Nutcastle United. He's done alright here in his own unique way, were at Newcastle he'd only just arrived, its not quite the same situation.

One consideration that seems to be overlooked is that Sam has a life built in lancashire, he has ties here that are not easily broken, his kids and grand kids are here and he has stated in the past that this is very important to him. He wont be swapping Darwen Moor for sand dunes.

The Dubai mob Al Ahli are about to appoint a really strange name. Well-known in England but off the map for a while...

Mark Hughes's move was off because they would not pay for all of his staff.

Big Sam was ruled out over compo.

The deal is for 2.5 million dollars but that is in total - any compo or extra staff would come out of the package.

Good news! Of the map in England or in football?

If its just England then SGE? If its in general then Tigana?

Jermaine McSporran? Nacho Novo? They're strange names.

I imagine O'Leary fits the bill, but so does Souness, McAllister, Graham and Vialli.

Big Sam was ruled out over compo.

It's inevitable that there would be compensation to pay and I'm sure Sam isn't that naive but could this potentially sour the relationship between him and John Williams?

They've always seemed pretty close but adding this to the fact there's no money - no matter what Sam does (in fact I bet Sam is scared to sell anyone as he'd be unlikely to see the funds) - it could be a problem of Mark Hughes' proportions...?

For the record, I would very much prefer Sam to stay - providing he's happy here.

Looks like this was a complete non story from the begining.

$2.5 = £1.6m?? I cant imagine Sam is on much less than that over here (tax accepted).

Why would any 'big time manager' go for an obscure job (Al Ahli not won anything since 1984) with such a small pay packet considering that compo and other staff would have to come out of the overall sum...??? This story makes less sense now than it it did a week ago. The package would have to be on the table prior to any discussions surely??

The prize money for finishing top of the Saudi League is less than £500,000 - Al Ahli have a maximum gate of 24,000...They want a manager and coaching team for £1.6m?? why was this story given real credence again??

Stating that Sam didn't get the job 'because of compensation' is just plain silly and implies that he really wanted it which I very much doubt. Hughes and Sam were probably sounded out at best and no doubt laughed their bloody heads off at the bar at night. This all sounds like the club was trying to establish some kind of credibility by linking themselves with star managers...just a very, very cheap publicity shot.

Sam Allardyce giving an interview with Gulf News about the way forward for the Rovers and using data during games and not only after to analyse the players condition all the time.

Some interesting things about the new things lined up.

Gulf News: They way forward

Bet the players are really looking forward to blood testing etc. No good for me - I'm so squeamish I pass out if I prick my finger. The way to keep me in tip top shape would certainly not be to test my blood regularly! :P

Ok then, who leaked the story?

It wasn't the club, so it could hardly have been a publicity shot on their behalf.

Work it out.

Been doing Sam's 'new' methods in at Wigan Warriors for years. He could do worse than get down to Orrell and see how it's done.

Coincidentally I rem being told shortly after the '84 LA Olympics (by a cyclist who competed there) that Wigan RLFC were leading the way in sports sciences / fitness techinques / injury treatment etc. His cycling club used to send any cyclist with injury probs there for treatment etc.
