I've no real axe to grind but I think we can all take that to mean that you will never ever pay to watch a match at Ewood Park.

I was simply being pedantic with ABBEY. I love Rovers and have paid to see them on many occasions (including away games last year), my circumstances however do not permit me to make the 200 mile/5 hour round trip.

I'll make the trip for a Europa league game ;)

I don't know if this is a personal thing, but I rarely ENJOY watching a Rovers game anyway, and I don't mean this in reference to our current tactics, more-over I never have done. I'm a bag of nerves and energy before and during every single game of every season, and ENDURE would be a better word to describe my experience. Of course I enjoy plenty of other football matches, just very rarely Blackburn (with exceptions like putting 5 past the Dingles of course and 80 minutes on the clock!). As a result, I'm not bothered, to a certain extent, how the Rovers play, as long as we win the match in question. Result would always conquer over substance for me, and in that respect I think that Big Sam is the ideal manager for us in our current situation.

:brfcsmilie:

This is exactly how I feel. Slightly masochistic.

Presume he will be asked about England however hopefully we hear some news on Rovers.

Noticed he was interviewed, from Brockhall, on Sky yesterday but they only broadcasted his comments on England.

So the reserves and first team playing 3 at the back.

Nervous times ahead.

I'm pretty sure we tried it once last season late on, or maybe as a tactical switch during a game.

I seem to remember Sam saying after that it was something he was looking at.

He better get some new players in if he is intent on giving that formation a go.

They chop up the interviews when they do them and only broadcast bits at a time.

Yeah I noticed that, yesterday we heard him on England, today on Rovers search for a striker!

On formations, I think Sam likes 3 at the back as an option but would be surprised if it became our favoured or starting formation (i.e. start matches with it). Don’t think anyone regularly plays 3-5-2 in the Prem so would be a big change – who knows though…

How would we line-up with it?

.............. Robinson

...... Nelsen Samba Givet

Emerton .................... Olsson

........... N'Zonzi Pedersen

.................. Dunn

........ Roberts ..... Kalinic

It looks okay on paper. I don't know who would go on the left if Olsson was unavailable though, only Pedersen really has the engine for that role. I left Salgado out because we couldn't expect him to play 40+ game season in that role, but obviously he can play a certain number.

If Roberts was replaced with a good striker (preferably pacey) then it might be possibly work well. I just have major reservations about 3-5-2 though.

Haven't seen today's bit. Just know they get what they can while they can and then see what they need/can use. Have watched my daughter film an hour of stuff to make a 20 second clip!

3-5-2 would require great discipline from the team for it to work. Honestly looking at that line-up i see major problems with it. The central midfield area is so soft, need two defensive, combative midfielders there.

Pretty much the back three picks itself, Jones might be pushing for a place though. Emerton at right wing back and Olsson at left wing back could work, both are atheltic and have the energy to get forward and back if and when they need to. Let's face it though Salgado will be Sam's choice for right back and i could see some major problems with pace and energy as he is only going to get older and slower.

Midfield still looks weak. N'zonzi is solid but Pedersen is vastly overrated, he doesn't have the pace to get forward and he doesn't have the battling qualities to really put his body on the line and make hard tackles. Dunny is injury prone and has periods where he looks clearly out of form and offers nothing.

Roberts and Kalinic what can you say, the only two strikers we have really so if we were to play two up front it would be them two.

Looking at it i just can't see it working, not with the quality of our midfielders.

I would go with that, certainly at home. Maybe Grella for Pedersen if he's fit.

3-5-2 would have benefits as far as Rovers are concerned; it will get the best from Kalinic, Emerton/Salgado and Olsson are natural wing-backs, and Givet does OK at leftback currently but this gets him into a more natural position.

I think playing 352 in the premiership would be suicicde. Most teams play with two sets of wingers IE modern full backs and we would get over run.

I could see it as a plan B, but no more.

Agreed.
