Brought bit of Big Sam's patented innovation to training today.

I stood in the midle of the five-a-side pitch with my ghetto blaster, dancing to 'Groove Is In The Heart' by Deee-Lite.

The challenge for the lads was to resist the groove of the beat and my moves, and concentrate solely on the football.

They failed. Within minutes, the entire squad had abandoned the kickabout and had joined me in the centre circle, dancing their testes off.

I was initially apoplectic at their tactial failure, but then the squad and I started dancing as one and became lost in the beautiful vibe

Thebig_sam has gained another follower. Lovely stuff

so, alls waggy and me have been told for the last season or so is ,big sam is the ONLY man capable of managing rovers. Now things may or may not be changing ,does this still ring true or will everyone still be happy with penalty spot launch footy or will big wonga mean things should be different?

I still think Sam is the man for Rovers. I don't believe he's a one trick pony. But I don't think things will change overnight. Stability is important. If improvements are made here and there, gradually over a period of five years, I think we will be challenging for Europe within that time.

In general it was dull - apart from 6 games that were enjoyable out of a season of how many? My cup runneth over .... ;)

We did improve, from being unwatchable to mainly bearable with odd bit of decent stuff thrown in. Overall though, still nowhere near enough entertainment. As I've said before, the season looks a lot better on paper than bearing witness to it actually was.

The young players were brought because of circumstance (injuries, suspensions etc) not from any great managerial masterstroke. It was heartening to see Phil Jones break through, and to be fair BFS stuck with him so credit for that.

I spent around $500 to go to Sydney for one night, just to see Rovers play one game. It was a fantastic experience and seeing all the players up close was a dream come true.

Consider yourself lucky you get to watch these players as regularly as you do, some of us aren't so fortunate. The entertainment value comes from watching the team you love and the players you support. Given your past comments about MOST of our players, it's no surprise you have a torrid time. I'm not even sure why you bother? You hate the manager, you hate the players, you hate the tactics. To please you we'd have to scrap the entire club.

So by your logic; just because you can go to see the games you should be happy with whatever old tripe you're watching.

But Abbey if we get all this money and Allardyce has us playing like Arsenal (I do have serious doubts about both btw and refuse to get carried away like most of this board) I'm sure that you and waggy will still hate and resent him being in charge. Allardyce has punched his weight despite our finances causing him to metaphorically have one arm tied behind his back.

You've both stubbornly painted yourselves into a corner over a manager who has kept us in the Prem very much against the odds and steadily continues to turn in improved results despite having imo on paper a poorer squad than each of his two predecessors. btw that is in no way a criticism of Mark Hughes.

You really do talk out of your arse miker. I don't hate anything, I'm not childish - but that's the way you come across on here when you jump up and down because people have the temerity to disagree with you, which is pretty much all your posts consist of.

I think some if our players are overrated. I think our manager can be tactically naive. I think our football is dull to watch. I'm not a sheep who blindly agrees with everything the club/manager does because it'll somehow make me look more if a fan. It's called having an opinion, and a messageboard is a place where you voice them. Which bits of this are you struggling with?

Having been a season ticket holder for 28 years means I can say WTF I like thanks, whether you like it or not. I'm guessing you jumped on board in 1995?

As for why I bother?? Because I was born in Blackburn, have lived here for 39 years and chose my current house based on it's proximity to Ewood. Because my Dad took me in 1982 and I was hooked. Because I've been there on a foggy Wednesday watching us play Oxford in the Simod Cup with 1900 hardy souls, I've frozen my nuts off on Oldham's open away end in sideways sleet, I was there at Selhurst Park in tears (still can't believe Howard Gayle missed that pen in the home leg). Because football, Blackburn (the town) and Rovers runs in my blood. My Dad coached Town teams, my Nan worked for Rovers. Both my Grandads were Rovers fans - I was brought up on tales of my Grandads away-day exploits in the 30's. Tales of great players like Raich Carter (look him up). That good enough for you?

Now why do you bother? Aren't there teams more local to you that you have more affinity with?

Hey Mark.... why don't you write to that oily French marketeer type chappie whose piccy was in't telewag last night.... I'm sure that he could use a good No 2 in order to market the club abroad by winning new friends around the world and welcoming them to the club. You'd be perfect.

I've been watching Rovers for 55 years plus - does that make me a better supporter than the fan who "jumped on board" last week ? I don't think so.

The fact is you are very negative about Rovers, and you don't like it when your views on certain players and the manager are challenged.

The club needs as many supporters at home and abroad without your ridiculous nonsense. Welcome aboard miker.

Jesus, I actually manage to spend a few hours working and all hell breaks lose (the huge pile or "Report" emails testifies). We have 2 admins and half a dozen mods, all of whom (as far as I know) have jobs. Don't be calling for us to "sort this out" a matter of minutes after it happened.

.... anyway, we're dealing with it.

oh and another tip, quoteing something you know is likely to be moderated away just means your post goes to, nothing personal, but there is no point removing one post, but leaving 20 that quote it

and as somebody said, this is a fat Sam thread, not a racism discussion.

That as a cracking post until you spoilt it with that end line.

Ok, it was first thing in the morning and maybe I was slightly annoyed at that point - perhaps it was a little harsh.

However, it was meant as a genuine question - he asked me why I bother and I answered, I just wanted to know why he chose Rovers?

I wasn't saying I'm a better fan, he asked me why I bother with Rovers and I answered. I was merely asking the same. At the same time I was trying to make the point that I've paid my dues enough to give my opinion whether you, Miker, Big Sam, or anyone likes it or not. If you don't agree, fine that's your opinion but too many on here seem to take it as a personal attack if everyone doesn't blindly agree with everything the club or manager does - to the point of not even bothering to put a counter-argument across and just be insulting.

Your middle paragraph - pot, kettle, black, much? You are particularly guilty of going off on one if people disagree with you - perhaps you need to read back some of your posts.

And Jim, thanks for the constructive criticism, but I'll take your appraisal with the contempt it deserves, given much of the tripe you come out with.

Can you imagine the headlines, and the letters to newspapers/SSN if that ever happened?

Who cares? Theyd only have been sent by know nowts. The FA have said that the next manager will be English. It might be Woy, it should be Sam but it will be good old chirpy cockney arry (if he's not been banged up by the Revenue.).

And we'll win sweet FA again.

We'll win sweet FA whoever is manager - we just don't have the players. I fear that until we've got a deeply-embedded, grass roots coaching system to rival the likes of Spain we're doomed for failure after failure on the international stage.

Like what Sam is saying about a slower approach, identifying the right players & not just jumping in with 2 feet. I also like how he says value for money is still needed on deals & he wont overpay.

He is also very confident that he has the sales technique to get the big players to want to join us.

Exactly the right approach IMO, we don't want to be doing a City and blowing vast sums on average players.

However, and I know this is not necessarily his fault, as a club we are guilty (at least in terms of wages) of doing exactly that - how else did the likes of Roberts, Zurab, Andrews, Pedersen etc end up on such huge contracts?

As well as being prudent with fees, we need to learn from the mistakes with the likes of those 4 and make sure we're getting value for money on wages too.

Having said all that, I think a marquee signing like a Beckham early doors would be a massive boost on a few levels; press attention, a sign of intent, shirt sales, attendances, exposure in foreign markets etc.
