Absolutely, Rev. I have to admit that I was totally against Sam in the summer, but as events have unfolded I haver come to accept the idea and I am now quite pleased to see him as our manager.

His obvious delight in being appointed and the fact that I have seem him at several of our matches over the last few months has given me reason to believe that he knows exactly what he is getting and I have every reason to think that he will do the business for us.

OMG. Did you see some of the divvy Blackburn fans SSN spoke to about the appointment? The first one was 'Well, we're definitely relegated now. We should have stuck with Ince.' Then another one said that Big Sam failed at Newcastle (actually improved their league position, but hey...) and he only did 'okay' at Bolton. WTF. He got them promoted to the Premiership and won European football. I guess Souness and Hughes only did 'okay' as well then? Idiot.

If you don't like him 'cos he managed Bolton, just say so. It's not a valid point, but at least you're being honest. Rather that than the crap I've heard so far.

I'm worried about this appointment.

I don't want Rovers to become the patchwork XI. It would be terrible if Allardyce starts signing short-term veterans to pad the squad, as he did with Bolton.

I know staying up is crucial but I just fear that Allardyce and his mobile phone contact list of weird and wonderful agents will take us down a very depressing road. I don't want our team to lose its identity and simply become a flock of flotsam, washed up from the transfer market ocean, who are only here to get a big move as soon as possible. That's how it was at Bolton.

That's not to mention the 4-5-1 long-ball, percentage game football.

It's sad that it's come to this - but I accept that JW and Co. didn't have many other options.

Rovers have sold their soul - in return for what? Prem football? Maybe...at what cost.

I wanted souness/ manchini but am still pleased with allardyce think he will do well with us. He's pretty muched jumped at the chance to manage us. Wonder how much he's gonna get?

Also nelson looked like an idiot on ssn, nearly crying about Ince.

I have to say I was made-up when I heard the news. I think Big Sam is the best equipped manager to get us out of the relegation zone and 'punching above our weight' as some like to call it.

People need to realize we're not a team who can play Brazilian football. We've got a small squad in terms of genuine quality and a limited budget. Sam will hopefully make us a tighter unit and play to the strengths of the players we've got, while bringing in a few names of his own. I'm confident he is the guy to take us forward.

saw those halfwits on sky, utterly clueless bunch of numbnuts. I am now convinced of a selective editing policy on those kind of clips, no way u pick 5 random fans and they are all negative and behind ince.

i'd love it in janurary if we binned off inces signings to really pour scorn on his ###### poor tenure, and i include robinson. I'd love boro or some one to have a bad injury to their goalie and bid for robbo....................as personally i think he's the worst regular no.1 we've had for 20 years. Go and sign Al habsi or play bunn anything. Different manager at spuds and straight away he's no probs by all accounts of replacing an £8.5m goalie. Fowler=gone, Carlos=gone, Andrews=presumably sam thinks like a premier manager resulting in gone.

I remember Savage's debut v Bolton at Ewood a few years ago, when Diouf dived shamelessly for Bolton's penalty. After the game Sam chortled away to himself and refused to even admit that the decision was dodgy. How I hated him.

Now though, it's as if Christmas morning has arrived early. The fat man is exactly what we need at this point in time. Rough, route-1 footy with every player dying (and diving) for the shirt. Fighting ugly, scraping points and getting "up" teams coming to Ewood. It's the only way we'll survive and I couldn't give a flying one about our footballing "aesthetics" so long as we stay up.

All this whining "ooooh, you won't see me at Ewood again" really is a load of old b*****ks. Support your team or go and diddle yourself.

So people will go watch Ince's team get spanked every week but not Big Sam's in-your-face footy?

Riiiiiiiiight.

As he is now Blackburn Rovers' manager, he will get my full support, but I have a bad feeling about this appointment.

And yes, I would love to be proved wrong.

I am the eggman...

You thought Ince should have stayed. 'nuff said.

I´ve been away from England for 3 months now, so I´ve got a slightly different perspective from those you have been watching Ince's team week-in, week-out. Simply listening to the noises coming out of ewood, the performances and reviews we have been receiving it was obvious that the players weren't playing for Ince and that he had lost the dressing. I think its fair to say that he was never in a million years going to be able to turn all that around and suddenly start pulling performances from the players. He had to go.

I think its also fair to say that many posters on here have grand delusions about Blackburn Rovers, the town, the people and the club. Roberto Mancini is not going to leave hus cushy live in Italy to come and work in one of the poorest towns in the country, infront of 15-20k fans, with no money to spend and rainy summers. If he lost his first 5 games and started making little Italian gestures to the ref from the touchline, what would the steelworker on row 25 think? He wouldn't stand a chance.

Big Sam is a Northern bloke, he knows what it means to scrape victories together and make it difficult for the opponents. If you hadn't noticed, this was also at the forefront of Hughes's gameplan for at least his first 2 years at Ewood. When Sam left Bolton he had brought in players like Okocha, Anelka, Diouf and co...all top class talents who can produce good football. Im sure his heart is in the right place and having had a year of to study the game at his own pace he might well have different ideas now on how to progress a team once he has started to grind out results.

He was the only appointment for Rovers in the first place and we're lucky he's still available now.

The only man for the job.

Well, I've only just found out that BFS has been appointed manager. To give my thoughts breifly would be underwhelmed. Of the two favourites for the position my personal choice would have been Souness.

As I've stated before I was no fan of BFS and his style of play. However, he is OUR manager now and deserves all of our collective support in what is going to be a struggle to get out of the relegation zone.

I will be trying my best to attend more games after the festive period to give my support.

In a way, I'm really gutted that I won't get to see Souey back on the Ewood touchline, especially with Tugs as part of the coaching setup. Then again, I think we all know that Allardyce was the right call.

If he keeps us up, then fantastic. However, I do fear years of terrible long ball football and a reputation as the new 'Bolton' of the Premier League, or the Championship should that be the case. But, again, survival is all that matters right now.

I'll enjoy any kind of football that keeps us up! Sam faces a massive task and although I don't like him and was dead against him being appointed six months ago, I think he's one of only a couple of available managers who have the balls to give a real good go at keeping us up. Good luck to him and now he's the Rovers boss, as far as I'm concerned that makes him the man!

Can't do that I'm afraid............ The old Bolton are still alive and kicking under Gary Megson.
