MeanGreenMachine Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Why the frig would you build an infrastructure around someone who wants to jack it all in at club level in a year or two.

Just imagine how much fun he could do here with that kind of loot. That will make him stay around. Seriously though, he would certainly stay here if he had the financial backing that he would probably have if such a takeover occurred.
tony gale's mic Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Just a thought on if/when a takeover does go through. Will Allardyce be arming himself with a world class back room team - akin to the amount he had at bolton (not sure if he took them to newcastle)? I wonder if so, whether that alone will give us a push up league, not even including any signings we could make that would improve us as a team. I think given the playing staff at our disposal, 10th or possibly 9th is about as high as we can go.

Apart from Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger the rest are either sacked through their incompetence or the incompetence of club Chairman or poached by wealthier clubs. The average prem managers tenure being less than two years I think for whatever reason. Ince was sacked through his own incompetence, Allardyce copped for Ashley's inexperience and Hughes was sacked to save Gary Cook's skin. Personally I'll be quite suprised if Mancini is still in a job by Christmas.

I do believe that Sam would indeed stay here and honestly hope that he does so, as I believe you do too. Either way, we have someone who can get results and ensure survival. How he will handle money is yet to be seen.
tony gale's mic Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 I think even if City flatter to decieve by Christmas Mancini will still be in a job provided it's not too disastrous. Until they hit the Champions League he's as big a name manager as they can get right now and surely even the owners know repeatedly sacking managers wouldn't be a great advert to prospective new managers.

You think they will be in the top five or so? I don't think so myself, have the feeling that far too many egos there for any manner of squad harmony. Perhaps the backbone of England players will change this and the manager will be left to dispose of the chaff. Sam seems to have done a good job here, rooting out negativity and instilling a desire to win. Mancini can ###### off, scarf and all.
LeChuck Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Anybody else read the BBC article on ex-Rovers coach Karl Robinson?. He's not short of praise for Big Sam! "Sam Allardyce is an absolute genius," said Robinson. "He is fantastic at what he does. He gets the best staff around him and makes them believe they can move mountains - that impacts on the players."

Stuart Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Just imagine how much fun he could do here with that kind of loot. With our budget, he'd probably need a takeover to be able to afford that! In fact he's likely taken to sticking it behind his ear at night - which might also explain why he has to chew it so violetly violently.

Man management at the level of a genius.

Man management at the level of a genius. Big Sam's retort, "Constipation is always a problem, and shyte sticks" Not his fault that he wanted rid of someone and the money men asked too much, pretty good job that it worked out that way as we signed noone anyway.

The irony being that Karl Robinson jumped ship to League One instead of staying to learn from Sam's years of wisdom.

Steve Moss Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Winger ain't fit to lick Sams armpit. Don't give Wenger any ideas. He's an excitable type.

He speaks very, very highly of Allardyce.
John Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 A lot of players, who have played under him, rate Big Sam very highly - there is no doubt he has very good man management skills (something rarely mentioned). He is pals with a lot of them, however, most Premier League managers also have an enormous amount of respect for him too.

rebelmswar Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Sam talks about Wenger,Paul Robinson and the fear factor at Ewood, 13:30mins in. Sam is pulling a SAF there and no mistake I swear if he didn’t look like a stroke afflicted bloodhound, I could kiss him at times. With Arsenal looking at a tricky visit to Sunderland, I wonder why he would say such things. Good to hear the backing of Robinson too, there is no doubt he looks after his lads when they perform for him.

Cheers, might have to have a read of that. Robinson comes across very well in that interview, based on what I've read there it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up managing a PL club one day.

Well, he learnt how not to do it by working with Incey.
tony gale's mic Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Goalkeeper managers are very, very rare.
